Lone Star is good for nonfunctional patients. They use a beginner level curriculum. I was expecting more one on one counseling, but counseling time was minimal. I wanted more time counseling and I wanted them to ask me the hard questions. Instead, they only asked basic questions and checked boxes on some documents. I pleaded over and over to deviate from their predetermined questions and help me get to the sources of my anxiety and depression, but it never happened during my six day stay. The meals were good but the portions were too small. I found myself very hungry at night. Also, they would not give me my cpap until after 10:00 pm every night and would wake me up early to take it away from me. I had to sleep with a technician watching me all night because of my cpap machine. This was very uncomfortable and strange. One of the night time nurses was very rude and disrespectful, but the rest of the staff was incredible and demonstrated empathy at all times. Saturday and Sunday was a complete waste of time. I suggest checking in late Sunday or very early Monday so you might not have to deal with the monotony of the weekend doing absolutely nothing. I recommend looking for another behavioral hospital if at all possible. read more

Lonestar is a money pit. They are real nice to get you in and on the tit of your insurance. My son voluntarily checked in to the Grant Rd facility. Once through the door (after intake), he was thrown into a common room where it was complete chaos. The patients were out of control, most of them needed to be in a psych hospital with constant supervision. No supervision in Lone Star...... My son went to his room for some solitude. His roommate talked about killing people all night. That was in between him laying flat on his back and spitting up in the air. Not a safe place. That place is enough to drive a person crazy!!!! My son was able to contact me in the morning and he told me about his night and requested to go to another facility. When I arrived to check him out, the only concern they had was that he was able to contact me. They were apparently mad as hell about that. I was told that because he broke their "rules" that they were going to "have to" put a hold on him. I literally had to have a fit in the waiting room to get him out. I have contacted his insurance company and advised them of this incident so they would not approve anyone else to be treated like an animal. read more

The staff is as unstable as a heroine or PCP addict who can't find a fix. They pose as professionals, but forget to call back or just don't have the right consequences. They lie & as full of Sass as a Lama is spit. It's not as high traffic as other establishments, as unestablished it is, so their reviews are as low in quantity as they are in quality. read more

I honestly loved this hospital. It was nothing like a psych hospital I've ever stayed at. The staff was amazing, caring, loving, and accommodating. HOWEVER, one of their staff members was manipulated by my con artist ex-boyfriend into giving him my health information against my wishes. They were not even supposed to admit that I was present at the hospital, much less give information on my care, diagnosis, treatment, and wellbeing. I know my ex is a psychological liar and he's also an actor misrepresenting himself as a medical doctor, but these people are there to protect us. And violating my HIPPA rights was downright wrong. I hope they can improve their staff training and make sure this never happens again. read more

Do yourself a favor and just get thrown in jail, honestly you will be better off. I came on a Friday and once I was admitted and in the facility THEN I was told "oh there is no doctors or help till Monday". I said I wanted to leave then, then the male nurse said they would start proceedings to commit me. The facility is gross at best. Smells like urine and shower was nasty so I didn't shower while I was there as my gross body was cleaner than that shower. The food was ABSOLUTELY vile and disgusting. Think a slice of expires deli meat thrown on stale bread with nasty cheese. (One up side is I lost weight). As for passing the time? Look at the walls and pirated copies of horses on the walls for days on end. The female nurses and techs were kind and honestly wanted to help with the limited resources they had available to them. The owners honestly could careless about helping people. It must be just a money making enterprise for them with zero interests in helping people. They don't even make the weakest attempt of any comfort or dignity for their "patients". I have never been to jail, but I swear you honestly would probably be better off just getting thrown in the Harris County jail. read more

This place needs to be shut down!! I was voluntarily the bathrooms have rusted screws. Filthy showers. The patient next to me left fecis on the toilet and the nurse told me to clean it. I signed a 4 hour release and they refused to let me call my wife or attorney. The owners son is also a tech there and told me they arent there to wipe my ass. Food is stale and the nurses don't monitor the halls and when they do at night they are sleeping. read more

This place is a hot mess. Patients are left unattended in a room called the "day area' most of the day. I witnessed a fight break out and a patient escape all in my first 2 days. The groups are run by scared looking college students and most the patients are zombies if not bouncing off the walls. The nurses are in a glass room and rarely ever get up for ANYTHING. The techs flirt and horse play ALL day like children among themselves. The food is ok if someone doesn't eat your plate. It was a waste of my insurance. read more
