Lone Star is good for nonfunctional patients. They use a beginner level curriculum. I was expecting…read moremore one on one counseling, but counseling time was minimal. I wanted more time counseling and I wanted them to ask me the hard questions. Instead, they only asked basic questions and checked boxes on some documents. I pleaded over and over to deviate from their predetermined questions and help me get to the sources of my anxiety and depression, but it never happened during my six day stay. The meals were good but the portions were too small. I found myself very hungry at night. Also, they would not give me my cpap until after 10:00 pm every night and would wake me up early to take it away from me. I had to sleep with a technician watching me all night because of my cpap machine. This was very uncomfortable and strange. One of the night time nurses was very rude and disrespectful, but the rest of the staff was incredible and demonstrated empathy at all times. Saturday and Sunday was a complete waste of time. I suggest checking in late Sunday or very early Monday so you might not have to deal with the monotony of the weekend doing absolutely nothing. I recommend looking for another behavioral hospital if at all possible.

Once through the door (after intake), he was thrown into a common room where it was complete chaos. The patients were out of control, most of them needed to be in a psych hospital with constant supervision. No supervision in Lone Star...... My son went to his room for some solitude. His roommate talked about killing people all night. That was in between him laying flat on his back and spitting up in the air. Not a safe place. That place is enough to drive a person crazy!!!! My son was able to contact me in the morning and he told me about his night and requested to go to another facility. When I arrived to check him out, the only concern they had was that he was able to contact me. They were apparently mad as hell about that. I was told that because he broke their "rules" that they were going to "have to" put a hold on him. I literally had to have a fit in the waiting room to get him out. I have contacted his insurance company and advised them of this incident so they would not approve anyone else to be treated like an animal.

My one regret, coming here and following their advice. I feel as though I am the only one that has actually used this groups services that is not her friend or a student to offer a review. You're wanting the experience of miss Wine as your counselor, I'm sorry but that's not going to happen, and will likely never see her. Unless you go to one of her general speaking events for additional fees to attend. Her schedule consist of writing blogs, and for other forums at her home which she freely states on her e-mail notifications. You will only get one of their other young "qualified" counselors. In my personal experience, if you want to waste thousands of dollars to make things progressively worse in your relationship, come here and follow their advice. You will end up in divorce. I had Sarah Dailey as my counselor and I'm sorry to say I was disappointed in her abilities to manage our sessions. Each time we came out, it was worse and worse than before. I would say this group tries, but they have not gained personal experience in dealing with these types of issues with marriage partners. Worst of all this group will actually lie to you and renege on commitments. Be sure to ask for a lawyer referral before you spouse does when you start. Their family law referral is the Rudisel Law Firm if your the unfortunate one that asks second, and they give you the "we don't have any referrals we can provide you" line. So, good luck to anyone that is reading this post. I wish you all the best in the struggles you face. I would suggest going to Shield Bearers instead. They offer discounted rates if you need them.

I want to be very clear: the clinical care at this location was decent. My provider was…read morecompassionate and helpful. Unfortunately, the front office staff -- specifically Alicia and Brianna -- made continuing treatment here impossible. From my very first appointment, there were serious issues with billing and communication. Alicia gave me multiple different copay amounts, was rude when I asked for clarification, and created unnecessary stress during a visit where I was already anxious. The visit was handled so poorly that Brianna offered to waive it entirely -- not because I requested anything, but because the service had been that bad. Over time, it became obvious that Alicia and Brianna use the same passive-aggressive, dismissive style of communication. It's a pattern, not an isolated incident. Every interaction was overly polite on the surface but evasive and unclear underneath. Instead of answering direct questions, they consistently redirected, provided contradictory information, or responded with scripted messages that avoided accountability. At one point, I saw two completely different balances in their system -- one for $196 and another for over $600. When I asked why these numbers existed and what they were based on, Brianna's response was to bring up the waived first visit, as if that justified the inconsistency or shifted responsibility onto me. It felt like a passive-aggressive attempt to connect unrelated issues instead of providing a real explanation. And to be very direct: I don't appreciate being patronized by staff who clearly aren't equipped to explain their own billing system. My anxiety is directly tied to finances and medical billing -- something I communicated clearly. Instead of offering clarity or empathy, I was met with condescending tones and evasive answers. The last straw was Brianna throwing the waived visit back in my face after she was the one who offered it due to their poor service. I will be posting the screenshot because no patient deserves to have a "favor" used as a tool to deflect blame. It became clear that this office does not value transparency, accountability, or the emotional well-being of the people seeking care here. The provider was great, but the administrative side is chaotic, dismissive, and ultimately made this clinic feel unsafe for me. I will not be returning.
