It's currently $14 a night to camp here plus an entrance fee on top of that. If you have a parks pass you can avoid the entrance fee, but you will still need to pay the camping fee. I think the price is pretty fair. They have fairly clean bathrooms and they keep the area really clean. It's also very beautiful. This place was extremely packed. It wasn't assigned campsites so you could try to get farther away from people, but it seemed to be pretty close quarters. I stayed here two nights and I would do it again. However, I'd much prefer to find a campsite that is more secluded next time. It's a beach so if your car doesn't have four wheel drive, stay away from the super sandy areas. I saw one person get pretty dug in and nobody around had a way to help pull him out. All in all, it's a beautiful place to camp. Definitely not the best camping area I've ever been in, but it'll do.

I had a great time camping at Lone Rock Beach. What's great is that you can able to drive right up to the beach and set up camp (you need to be within 200 ft of a bathroom unless you have a Port-a-Potty). Just be careful when you drive. My group had a 4-wheel drive SUV and it did fine, but we saw several sedans and RVs get stuck and have to get towed out. When driving, stick to the gravel and only drive on the soft sand for the least time you have to in order to get to your campsite. Open fires are permitted at the campsite, which was awesome. Bathrooms are outhouses which have flush toilets, and the only showers are cold outdoor beach showers, so just FYI. When I camped, I loved how quiet and peaceful it was, despite how popular the campsite was. All the other campers were so nice and respectful, and the water is calm and relaxing. Be aware of possible winds, and make sure you stake your tent down! Finally, I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets and an amazing moonrise while camped at Lone Rock!! It's just a gorgeous place and an awesome campsite.

We came here to relax on our last day of our Grand Canyon/ Horseshoe Bend / Antelope vacation trip in April. It was a beautiful fun little beach that our dogs LOVED to run around on and play in the sand. We'll definitely come back to this beach again someday. Beautiful drive up beach and nice people there.

My favorite campground on the lake and possibly in Northern Arizona. I've camped all over the place and LOVE Lone Rock, especially between October and April when it is least-busy. During this time the water is generally cold, but calm. Very little boat traffic and almost nobody on the beach. 4 wheel drive is recommended if you want to explore the far reaches of the beach. The eastern side is gorgeous and is harder to get to, which means most people don't bother. You can get a sedan out there, but you have to be very careful about where you park it. I've towed many people out of the sand here. There is generally someone around who can rescue you - just make sure you THANK THEM for their trouble! A beer goes a long way when someone unsticks your car/motorhome. Pit toilets are a far walk during the off-season, so I generally set up camp and use my vehicle to get to and from the bathroom. During the regular season, this place is packed with houseboats and tent campers alike. Don't expect serenity or solitude during the summer, even if you're there mid-week. Overall, highly recommended. Enjoy, and please pick up your trash!

Disappointed. I mean, it's pretty but the website was inaccurate. $25 entrance fee and $14 per night to camp. The website said nothing about this. It only said $10 per car. We paid it and didn't stay because it was incredibly windy (not their fault) and not only did we know we would struggle with a tent, but the rocks and sand the wind kicked up actually hurt. It was miserable. We didn't stay more than 20 minuttes. Paid and left. It does look like lots of bathrooms though.

Sickest spot ever!! Nighttime views are amazing and the sun rises just over the canyon across the lake, it was beautiful. First time ever camping without experienced campers and this place was perfect! I was really nervous because we drove a Honda Accord and everyone else had trucks, RVs, and SUVs, but we were able to drive through just fine with caution. If you're planning on taking a Sedan to campsite try to come during the day, PAY ATTENTION AND DRIVE ON THE HARD SAND. Came the first weekend of November and weather was perfect during the day, however, be prepared at night because it gets really cold/windy! I loved this place for it's beauty and seclusion, but also 15 min to the city of Page which has a Safeway, Walmart, gas station (everything you need). Also 20 min away from Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe bend, which was the main reason for our visit. Camping rate is $14 a night and you can camp as close to the water as you want, first come first serve! Other campers were really friendly, but also respected privacy. This place was not packed at all which was really nice, I think this is a good time of the year to come. Toilets were cleaner than I expected, but I would bring your own toilet paper unless you don't mind single ply. Overall a very clean lake to stay at for a great price. I wouldn't swim in the lake unless you have a paddle board or kayak to get you farther out. The water by the shore was really muddy and smelled like bird poop, I didn't really feel comfortable walking in it. Would definitely come back here with my family!

Those is one of the best campgrounds we have stayed at! If you like beautiful sand, water and sky's this is the place for you. The weather was perfect in May, the people were super friendly. There are flushing toilets about every 100 yards that are clean and smell decent. We stayed for a few days, and Page AZ is only a few minutes away for ice and more beer. We kayaked around the canyons and amazing rock features. We will be returning soon and frequent. Camping fees are $16 per night, plus entry fee of $9.

We love the lake and rec area. Been here two years now. Love to park on the beach in dispersed camping. Word of warning besides not going on holidays and terrible sand storms Bring patience with you because, if you take too long at the gate, all the people in line get out of their vehicles and get pretty mad if they have to wait... meaning, if you ask questions, better hope no one in line has a loaded gun. Also, the really impatient ones will try to drive down the shoulder and cut in front of you. If you report them to the gate person, they will send them to the end of the line. To be fair, wait your turn and stay in your vehicle because you will eventually be holding up the line. So be PATIENT. Furthermore, the short dark haired lady, Mary Little, isn't very articulate nor does she take the time to explain the details of your purchase or what's available to you cost wise. Ask lots of questions and you'll save yourself money. Get a national park pass for $80 and it's only $14 a night to camp. Otherwise, about $39 a night. Also, a boat pass for 1 year is $50. Otherwise, $30 a week. I don't care how long she's been there, she's terrible at communicating or she doesn't like white people and doesn't explain the cost benefits. The park rangers try to look tough by being present and intimidating, all of which they are not. Please, just because you are in uniform doesn't make you ALL THAT. If you have a little man complex, go ahead and hide behind the uniform, stand at the gate and try not to look like you have some authority. Otherwise, train your gate people to take the time to explain transactions before assuming everyone who comes in knows. I do believe this place is a once in a lifetime experience. Just don't forget your patience..

Softest sand. Best morning swim here at Lone Rock.

We got stuck in the sand, but I'm still giving it 5 stars. DO NOT TRY TO CAMP AT NIGHT. Get here earlier/when the sun is out if you are an unexperienced camper. This way you can see clearly what road/track to the beach to take that will not get you stuck. Despite a long night, we woke up to the most magical lake. Definitely coming back to Lone Rock- more prepared and ready to spend more time here!

Yes it is. There were quite a few dogs while we visited here. The lady at the booth to the park entrance said they were fine (and very cute). :)

The day before our tour, Julia called to let us know strong headwinds were expected and asked if we wanted to adjust our time. We already had a different morning tour scheduled, and they were incredibly accommodating with our plans. At the launch site, we met our guide Logan, and we were lucky that it was just our family of four on this tour. Husband and I wore aqua shoes and my daughters opted to wear their Birkenstock sandals and go barefoot, which was fine if you're okay with getting red mud on them. Logan was friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. I was a bit nervous since I'm a beginner kayaker, but he let us move at our own pace. It ended up being a great workout while still feeling peaceful and relaxing. The scenery was absolutely stunning. The canyon was quiet, beautiful, and not crowded at all. We paddled across Lake Powell and into the canyon, and the cool lake water felt amazing in the warm end-of-March weather (mid-80s). They provided life jackets, offered bottled water, and Logan even took photos of us both on the water and at the end of the canyon, which we really appreciated. He also shared helpful paddling tips along the way. The entire tour lasted about 2.5-3 hours and was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Highly recommend for families and beginners looking for a scenic and well-guided kayaking experience!

This tour is really for everyone and I can't recommend this tour company and John enough. Because we traveled during off season, we had the entire lake and trail to ourselves. John left much time for us to take cool pictures and was a wealth of knowledge. He made sure to engage with each person in the group and was successful in getting the more shy individuals to step out of their comfort zones. John and Sid (the other employee) made this tour worth it. They provided awesome recommendations for things in the area and also future outdoor related activities in the U.S. Be sure to pack enough water. Remember you are in a kayak and your items will likely get soaked. Luckily they provide one water proof bag per kayak which can hold your phone and camera. If you feel the need to pack more, I recommend that you bring your own waterproof back pack. I opted to go barefoot in the kayak and wear shoes on the hike. You will have to walk through water to get on and off of the boat. Do not let your size and fitness level deter you from this tour. The team is incredibly accommodating and reassuring, making this the perfect tour for all. Highly recommend this tour and either Sid or John!

A friend and I booked this event for her 40th birthday and it was the absolute highlight of our trip! We were thinking of renting kayaks and doing it ourselves but are both so grateful that we didn't because our tour guide, Ryan, was fantastic-- extremely knowledgeable, helpful, witty, and patient with us, as we were both beginners. She said yes but the benefit of using them was they carried the boards down and up a steep hill. We were there on Saturday April 25th. So we rented two paddle boards and she warned us about the winds. It was like $155. She was nice so we went for it. We get to the site and are waiting around. They haven't even taken the boards off the truck, but we were fine waiting. Layla finally made it up the HILL and had 2 boards taken off the truck and laid on the ground. I asked if any of the MANY men who were there and carrying kayaks down, was going to carry them down. She said no, you carry them. And that hill was STEEP. I figured meh, okay. I was annoyed since we were told they'd be ready for us at the bottom. Layla carried my paddle. Once I saw the hill, I was even more annoyed but I already paid $155 plus $30 entry to the lake. When we got to the bottom, she mentioned when we got back I had to carry it back up. I said I'm not doing that. lol. She held my leash so I could climb on my board. Not an easy task where we were. The paddle boarding was rough but we knew that, the girls at the office warned us. 5 miles later we returned. I STRUGGLED getting off the board and trying to haul it up by myself, my body was shaking and I was visibly exhausted. A young man who worked for this place, WATCHED me struggle. Asked how it was, I said it sucked. He mentioned me carrying the board up that steep hill, while I was shaking from exhaustion and out of breath, and I said "I'm not doing that" and he replied with "why is it heavy?" I did carry my life jacket and paddle...but after that comment I REALLY didn't want to. Layla gave me a water at the top and said to take a breath, I was breathing very heavy. I'd say don't rent paddle boards. You will have to carry them up and down the hill and will get no assistance getting off the board either. But they did carry the kayaks and help those people who also paid like we did, in and out of the kayaks. So maybe rent those and not the paddle boards.

Check-in felt a bit like standing in a slow car rental line. We waited about 15 minutes while a line formed behind us, and there was a form with disclaimers to sign before getting the room key. Our room was in Building 7. The rooms feel dated, and housekeeping seemed inconsistent. We had 2 bath towels, 2 makeup towels, and 1 hand towel, but no washcloths and no pool towels. The front desk said pool towels should be in the room, but there are none available at the pool itself. Our bathtub drain was clogged, so water pooled during showers, and one of the bed frames had something unpleasant on the fabric that clearly should have been cleaned. Amenities were also disappointing for a property charging a nightly resort fee. The hot tub jets were broken, the water wasn't warm, and it looked pretty dirty. The pools are not heated, so they were ice cold in April. Ironically, the hot tub appeared to finally start working the morning we checked out. Food options on site include the Driftwood Lounge, a breakfast deli, and the Rainbow Room for buffet and dinner (reservations required for dinner). The buffet was just okay -- next time I'd skip it and order an entrée instead. The hot & spicy wings at the lounge were decent. Overall, I gave it 3 stars because the staff were very kind and the views are fantastic. If we stayed again, we'd come with the expectation of enjoying the scenery rather than the amenities.

Here are some takeaways from our most recent trip on a houseboat in June 2022…read more.. 1) You have to book this boat 1 year in advance. Expect to pay around $8k plus gas, plus insurance. It's roughy $10k for a middle of the road boat for 5 days when it all adds up. 2) We had the 62' Journey. It did not look like any of the pictures online, it was much dated, but it worked, for the most part. Make sure you check everything before you go - the fridge, freezer, are so important, the generator too! 3) We did a "pre-board" and I recommend doing this if you are renting a boat in Powell. What a pre-board means is that at 5pm the night before you can board the boat, vs. waiting until 3:30pm the following day. This way, you wake up the next day, get checked out and you are on your merry way to find a spot to dock your boat. It's a great way to go. It does cost extra, and also know they will not let you on that boat anytime before 5pm, we tried. If you go this route as well, know that the people working on the dock are busy with the people who are boarding for that day, they are driving golf carts with their luggage and food, etc. and will not likely be able to help you until the next day, if not later in that day, so be prepared to carry your stuff to your boat, if you don't want to wait for someone. 4) Get the insurance. Do not sign up to pay for anything that breaks on that boat, it's $70/day for the insurance and trust me when you look at your boat you are going to want that. 5) If you are not savvy with boats, don't attempt to do anything if it's really windy or there are other poor weather conditions. You will have a hard time, and if there are any conditions like this I recommend waiting til it dies down to move your boat, park your boat on shore, etc. We were listening to the radio at the dock and we happened to come back in on a very windy day. It was A MESS. People losing anchors, things breaking, hitting other boats, etc. Just sit still if the weather isn't good and wait for a nice calm day to move your boat. Honestly our kids enjoyed their time being parked at the marina and on the boat, you aren't missing much and you will be safer. 5) Here's some general houseboating tips -- the slide is fun AF :), bring an iphone cord that adapts to the standard outlet so you can play music or bring a portable speaker, bring DVDs, bring a UHF radio so you can connect with the boat, and/or bring walkie talkies, you will want binoculars to see the numbered buoys, plan your food each day so you don't overpack, keep your meals simple. You do have a cooler and you will need quite a bit of ice, put some ice in your freezer so you have backup during your stay on the boat, ask the dock for a tow rope for your speedboat, and ask the person checking you out for recommendations on where to park, do your research first but ask them, they know best! For the price they charge you could go to a tropical island...the beauty of Powell is that 1) it's beautiful and 2) you don't have any service. #2 is a huge draw for me. It's truly a place to disconnect. You are basically camping on the water, just keep that in mind, it's an experience for sure! We saw Antelope marina on our way in/out of our camping spot. I would consider them next time, their boats looked nicer and they have good reviews on Yelp, they are closer to Padre Bay too, just a thought that was going throug my head...no idea how the experience is there but maybe take a look at them as well. Also the Axiom Star is the best boat, if you can get it. It's really lovely inside. The other one that is on the nicer end is the Wanderer. But if you can get the Axiom -- it's very very nice. Much nicer than what we were on! I had tried to book that a year in advance it was already taken.
