This Lola's Cupcake Counter is just a counter, across from the frozen yogurt counter inside TOP SHOP on the ground floor! It's right by the Oxford Circus tube station. Don't be like me, and go to Great Castle Street and try to find the counter...it's inside the shop. There were two people before me buying cupcakes= good sign, so I took a look at the menu and then at the cupcakes themselves. They had boxes of a variety, 4 regular sized for 9.99 pounds. I ordered a regular sized red velvet cupcake; there are mini versions as well. They actually ran out of the regular sized red velvet, so I chose the last gluten-free version. I think it's just the flour they use that is different, I forgot what the sales girl said. My total was 5.40 pounds. If you say "takeaway" i think they put each cupcake in a plastic protector...I didn't say that and she gave me a handy paper box, though I was a bit worried they would be squished by the time I got home.
Red Velvet Gluten free: For a cupcake that has been sitting there since the opening of the day...which was hours ago, the creme cheese frosting was SOOO soft and moist (like whipped creme soft!), the cake part was also soft, but a bit dry, but it's pretty good for something that just sits there all day with no cover...For how it looks, they sprinkle glitter on top of the cupcake, the middle of the cupcake, (looking from the top) has the red cake crumbs with loads of glitter which I find particularly attractive and indeed played a part in me getting 2 cupcakes instead of 1. The frosting is all glitter, so but you really have to stare to notice, as I didn't notice until i got home. I can honestly say this is the softest frosting I've had in my life. I want another one! Just because of the amazing frosting!!!
Cookie Dough: You would think the frosting is really hard, but after you bite into it, it's very chewy. The frosting is just too surgery for my liking :( The inside of the cupcake is just like a chocolate chip muffin, the texture is a bit dry, again, but this glittery frosted cupcake looks amazing, that I will just ignore it because it's still very soft. The cookie on top is very good. I'd probably wouldn't buy this again though,,, read more
