Even better than Pies & Pints! Lola's is set in what seems like somebody's house, which is substantiated by very homey-feeling service. The pizza itself is a little greasy but otherwise very delicious. I had the portabella pesto pizza (with pepperoni) and I loved how well the the different ingredients went together (especially the cheese, though I can't recall specifically what it was - ricotta maybe?). It's also worth noting that I usually hate mushrooms but they went perfectly on this pizza. One other menu item worth noting - the kale salad. It is perfectly dressed and has a bit of cheese for flavor, but still manages to be a very healthy and flavorful starter option. read more

In my opinion, the best restaurant in Charleston. We've been here many times, but never more than once a month. Still, several workers remember who we are & what we like. The wait can be long-ish on a busy night, especially if you've come in a group. The restaurant feels like a small house, so seating is limited. But they set up a charming front patio area where you can grab a drink from the bar & wait. I've never waited longer than it takes to finish one drink. Their drink selection is always good. They usually have a couple of drinks from Rogue brewing & Sierra Nevada. I usually go with the rogue good chit pilsner. They also have a wine selection that I haven't really delved into, but my gf switches between the red & white sangrias each time she goes. Both are good & very sweet. I start every meal here with the pan-seared goat cheese salad. That shit is amazeballs. It's not a lola's experience of you don't get that. All of the pies that I've tried here are great, but I'm sticking with the steak & cheese with jalapeños from now on. Make sure to ask for parmesan, they'll grate some off for you in a small bowl. I've been here about 5 times now, and it's still, hands down, my favorite pizza place around. There's plenty of interesting vegetarian options, and every pizza I've tried has been delicious. My favorite pizza there now is the Gorgonzola Rosemary Fig. It's amazing. The goat cheese salad and sangria are also top-notch (the sangria is stronger than normal- It's made with a dry red wine. It's fantastic). Their crème brulee is also delicious. The parking lot is still the same- tricky to get in and out of, and small. If I go when I think Lola's will be busy, I park up the road. Also, while I have seen large groups there, there's not tons of space, so I try to only go with small groups. read more

An excellent experience every time! The changing pizza combinations are well-thought out and well-prepared. Don't just get pepperoni, although very good, that's not the point of the place. The converted small house ambiance is excellent, but cramped. The bar is in the first room and has filled up with wall-to-wall people at times, making it hard to pay the bill and get to the exit. I agree with Luther F.'s review - MUCH better than Pies & Pints. Arrive early or you will have to stand around on the yard/gravel lot. Waiting in the rain? Sorry, once the porch fills up you're wet. We really enjoyed this place! Very cool location, and lots of interesting pizza options. They have a special pizza of the day, which was pork, corn, poblanos, and a special sauce. It was definitely delicious! They were also very accommodating with doing half-and-half even on their specialty pizzas, as well as being great to the kids. The kids seemed to love their cheese pizza as well. Sometimes places that do artisan pizza well don't do the basics well, but Lola's did a great job at both. Next time we come back through Charleston we will make another visit! read more

The pizza is good...just go early to avoid a wait. They are frequently out of selections but the sangria us very good. Usually a good beef selection. If you want delicious gourmet pizza and/or salads with some locally sourced, healthy and unique ingredients, in a casual atmosphere with great people, Lola's is THE place in Charleston for you. Don't forget to try some locally made Ellen's ice cream for dessert! I love the roasted sweet potato salad which also features avocado, feta, fresh orange and red onion with a cilantro lime vinaigrette dressing. Hard to go wrong with the kale salad or goat cheese salads either. My favorite pies are the artichoke & goat cheese and sausage & onion. And I don't have to choose between the two, I can get half of each with the large! They also feature some local and popular out of area craft beers and wines by the glass or bottle. Windy roads lead to beautifully set house and nature's backdrop. Immediate parking is scarce but there's plenty around the corner and Walgreens. Menu is short and I hope they eventually extend. The short haired bartender is always friendly and drinks are delicious!! Servers also make you feel comfortable! Check this place out for amazing pizza and salads!! read more

What a great find this was! Although parking was a bit of a challenge, it was well worth it. This crooked little house was full of great food, great drinks and great service. We have been to Lola's at least 20 times, with friends, family, and everyone in between!!! Never one time had a bad experience. Not one. Fresh toppings(it's more rare than you think), excellent sauce, great choices, and omg the fried goat cheese!!!! Listen, I don't know the restaurant business. I know that it's becoming increasingly more difficult to find consistency going out to eat, which is frustrating. A solid pizza place with personal service. The pizza was good, the meatball was solid with the steak pizza being mediocre. They have a great beer selection and have really great sangria. We had dessert and the coconut creme brûlée was great but the flourless chocolate cake was just ok. You should definitely come and check it out! read more

Lola's was one of the highly recommended restaurants in the area- so I have NO idea why it took me so long to finally try it out. Love the cozy, homey atmosphere of the restaurant. Well, duh! Lola's runs their business inside a house. With a hipster twist! They don't take reservations, but my party of 6 was able to quickly get a table on a Friday night. Coming with a big party is always a plus (although I don't recommend it since I feel like it's more of an intimate setting) since you can try more variety of what they have to offer. We got the Sausage & Onion, Steak & Cheese, Fresh Mushroom, Spicy Shrimp & Sausage, Pesto Portabella and one of the special pizzas of the night. They were all super tasty- but I highly recommend the Pesto Portabella. Nice blend between the pesto & cheese. I thought the roasted garlic would be a bit too overpowering, but it worked well with the other ingredients. Their special was tasty too- but I forgot the name and what it had in it so it's a bit useless to recommend? Hehe. I love the crunchy, yet fluffy crust of the pizzas. Oven-baked perfectly right! They also have a great selection of beers as well. The negative: 1) I think we were seated next to the heater/ac unit. Whatever it was- it shook the entire floor of our area and it was giving me bad motion sickness haha. 2) Our waitress was kind & helpful, but service was still slow. It's also pretty hard to get a hold of them due to the structure of the place. 3) Horrible parking. There is only limited spots available right next to the house. read more

My husband and I order Lola's at least twice a week for a reason... it's the best food in Charleston, hands down! The Rosemary/Fig pizza is serious stuff, as is their traditional Margherita pie and Goat Cheese Salad. The servers are terrific and really appreciate their regulars. We love Lola's! read more
