When I first moved here I found this bakery & religiously would come back due to the bread being so delicious & never had any problems with service. Recently however I saw they had these that they didn't have before so I wanted to try it. Once I got home with my coffee ready I seen that the strawberry has mold on it! Not only that I thought to myself, " let's not make it a big deal and just take the strawberry off" , WHICH I DID & the filling had this grey/blackish color to it from where the strawberry was so I just threw it all away! I'm so sad I had to throw it away & didn't want to go out of my way to bring it back to their store. They should check on certain items to assure perfect quality or just simply take it off the menu. read more

I picked up a tres leches cake from this bakery only to come home to realize the cake had gone bad. The cake tasted sour, and was hard (including the frosting). I brought the cake back and got a refund but the lady there didn't even apologize nor did she acknowledge that they messed up. She still told me they made the cake on that same day which is absolutely not true LOL. read more

It smelled so good, there was a line when we walked in for their bolli and mexican hot chocolate, darn it I should got some! there were ppl coming in and out for just bollis you know they gotta be bomb! They had a tamale sign lots of selections of pan dulce. I ordered red velvet with cream cheese filling, vanilla with fresh strawberry filling, and marble with strawberry filling ca t wait to taste and provide my feedback. I'll also try their other items . Don't set your expectations too high and you'll enjoy it. (You do get a bang for your buck for this) For only a dollar, I tried the pan dulce, pink sweet sponge cake with coconut flakes on top. I didn't expect it to be amazing but it wasn't bad either. I grabbed it from the back of the shelf using the tongs and it wasn't stale thankfully. (I worked at a bakery, always grab from the back) I'd stick to the classic breads everyone gets as it seems some people definitely see their freshness waver sometimes. I've been here once just to check it out. I have to say that it's a cool experience to try and it's right next to Food4Less. There are many different kinds of bread and cakes that you can find here. They put all their bread on shelves, but I'm not sure what variety of bread are here. In my perspective, I thought that the bread was a bit too sugary and dry for me. Service was nice enough. The woman who helped me when I got there had answered the phone, and let me know they had a pastel de tres leches available, so I headed right over. Customer service was ok. I had to wait a bit behind the counter even after the lady saw me, but I figured she was busy. I had to say excuse me twice. I even wondered if I wasn't loud enough or was it because I didn't speak Spanish. Because she either knew the next person who came in, because they spoke in full on Spanish engaging in a conversation as soon as he walked in. Or maybe I looked lost, haha. Who the heck knows. I called like an hour before closing to see if they had tres leches cake and they did. So I rushed there excited that I would catch some. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY. unreliable, the owner is never there and even after contacting her via text message to let her know my situation, has the audacity to leave me on read. don't set your expectations too high for their cake's. had my 3rd bad experience at this bakery trying to give them a chance to prove me wrong but I guess not. I was supposed to pick up a cake at 12pm Sunday, (this cake was paid in full about 3 weeks before) got there but the backer had just gotten the cake out of the oven and had me wait another hour for him to finish it, not only was it given to me late, but also modified it with out my consent. it looked nothing like the reference pic gave them. the excuse the backer gave me was that he was not notified earlier that he had a cake at 12 and that the cake was different because the fondant they buy already comes with color when he clearly had BLUE food coloring all over his hands. not only was he lying to my face, but had the nerve to say... "I'm sorry but I'm still a lil hung over from last night" like????? excuse me that is not of my concern and def not the best thing to say to a customer when she's already pretty pissed off. like I said, the owner was notified and there was no response . don't waste your time and money guys, NOT WORTH IT. read more

I spotted Lolas out of the corner of my eye one morning while running into Food 4 Less to surprise my friend who was having a tough morning with tea. Well I bought the boxed tea from Food 4 Less and thought she also might appreciate some baked goods and decided to go into Lolas. Lolas has an assortment of cookies and pastries to choose from and I was able to pick up what I needed for my friend to put a smile on her face. Personally I usually find Mexican Bakeries to be a bit blase because they typically lack variety. HOWEVER the ONE thing I L-O-V-E about Mexican Bakeries is that they sell Bolillos con Chili or in American terms a hoagie style type rolls filled with cream cheese and jalapenos. Lola's does add ham to theirs which is different and I always look forward to the cashier asking me if I want it warmed up (good customer service). One bolillio con chile = $1, tax included. If yelpers decide to purchase Mexican style baked goods in Riverside, skip the grocery store if you can and go to Lolas as it is the best place for them I've found in this town; but it still is the average Mexican Bakery experience explaining my 3 star rating. read more

In the past our family has enjoyed the mexican bread from this bakery. As we were celebrating a 40th wedding anniversary I approached them with a picture of a foolproof cake or so I thought. It was a modest cake, nothing fancy, two tiers, light mint shade in color with pearl sprinkles. No flowers necessary as in the reference picture I had shared with them. I asked for it to be ready by one o clock on the anniversary day. When I arrived they said it wasn't done. I was shocked, then they clarified it was baked but not frosted. I was asked to give them 15 minutes to get it ready. I just kept thinking to myself how this would turn up. If they were still going to manage to do a good job or if they were just going to rush it. Well, I waited outside and gave them extra minutes. When I returned and saw the cake it was not what I expected. I was hoping for a clean cut cake. I didn't want icing piping but they decided to do that. All in all I was just happy to have a cake. I was disappointed that I had ordered this way in advance and they waited to put it together after the pick up time. The flavors for the main cake were specified too and they also filled it with different fruit. I had requested strawberry and banana and was given strawberry and peach. I wouldn't have minded if they had at least mentioned a change out of necessity. I had also paid for the cake beforehand. I don't think they paid attention to my requests as they got the flavors wrong and when they asked me if I had already paid for the cake and had responded affirmatively they were rushing through looking through their receipts, looking panicked as they had just handed me the cake. read more

Absolutely horrible service! We ordered and paid for a cake in advance. Cake was supposed to be ready at 1 p.m, granted we got there late and they had just started decorating the cake. The female owner of all people was so RUDE! She asked us to leave and come back in an hour so they could finish the cake that was already late. The ending result was absolutely horrendous. The female owner once again came to us with the most disrespectful attitude and excuses as to why her team failed to do the job correctly. I will say we ended up taking the cake home (because we really needed a cake at our party) and the flavor and everything on the inside was pretty good, yet that doesn't excuse the poor work they did. I decided to have them bake my wedding cake because in the pictures the cakes were so beautiful, but when I saw my cake I was so dissapointed. my cake looked like it was falling apart, they got the color all wrong, it didnt look anything like the pictures, and they didnt even get the flavor right. I asked for german chocolate and was told that it would be no problem.. they gave me what taosted like something from a box of cake mix, and it was regular chocolate, not to mention they were AN HOUR LATE. everything was terrible. a wedding is supposed to be fun and as stress free as possible. the last thing you should need to worry about on your big day is wether the cake will be there on time... dont go to this place it sucks read more

I'd like to say that the taste of the birthday cake I ordered for my husband was great but NO...I arrive to see my Tres Leche Cake covered in peanuts and the foto placed in the wrong direction and NOT EVEN CENTERED. I ask to have that corrected and the counter person says to me...Ooh she must have ran out of almonds and we sometimes use peanuts instead. I responded, "if you were going to change something I specifically asked for you should have called me." Worst thing is that if they had been concerned for customer satisfaction they would have went next door and bought some slivered almonds and placed them on instead of those nasty peanuts. When have you ever saw a Tres Leche Cake with peanuts. And above all since when does the baker decide what your cake that you paid for is going to taste like. The girls tried fixing it but in all honestly when they called the owner to explain what was happening she simply told them...Give her her money back and get rid of her. So now I'm left with no cake for my husband's party. To think that I traveled 30 minutes in traffic to this bakery on someone's recommendation...I am truly regretful. I will NEVER come back to this hole in the wall. And honestly I'd never recommend it to anyone. If I could put 0 Stars I would.
