The parking lot is not adequately equipped to deal with three busy restaurants (La Bamba, Pizza Lovers and Bonefish Grill) in a small plaza. The Mobil gas station is positioned at the North end of the plaza. Literally, we limit our visits to the plaza due solely on the horrible parking. The UPS Store just to drop off a package can also be a challenge due to congestion but at least they offer one posted UPS drop off space. Each time visiting, I have to vie for a space after circling the lot a few times causing me a headache before happy hour.

Sundy Village is a new seven acre mixed use development centered around the historic Sundy House,…read morewhich was built in 1902 by John Shaw Sundy, Delray Beach's first mayor. The development preserves six of the city's oldest pioneer buildings, combining Queen Anne and Colonial Revival architecture with modern restaurants, shops, and office space. Historic buildings include the Cathcart house. the third oldest house in the city and an example of French colonial Architecture, The Rectory, a 1912 home for Methodist clergy, and 40 and 16 South Swinton Avenue which are three structures built in the 1930's. John Shaw Sundy came to South Florida as a construction superintendent for Henry Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway before building his home at the corner of Atlantic and Swinton Avenues in 1902. The Sundy House became one of the community's earliest gathering places. It served at various times as the town's first bank, a schoolhouse, the meeting place for the First Baptist Church, and a center for civic events. The Sundy family remained on the property for decades, and the home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. In later years it became a boutique inn, restaurant, and botanical garden. The project was originally proposed as Midtown Delray before being renamed Sundy Village in honor of the property's historic home. The recently completed first phase includes approximately 100,000 square feet of Class A office space and 30,000 square feet of retail and dining. Future phases will add another office building, a public parking garage, and the restoration of additional historic homes, including the reopening of the Sundy House as a restaurant. Rumored future tenants include Barcelona Wine Bar, Double Knot, Taco stand, Delray Beach Craft brewing, and Drinking Pig BBQ. I had the opportunity to explore Sundy Village while visiting Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, which occupies one of the beautifully restored historic bungalow, the 1925 Thieme House. I love how the developers were able to repurpose these historic buildings instead of tearing them down and losing this history forever. Instead they chose to celebrate it. The Delray Beach Historical Society has installed attractive interpretive plaques in front of each structure, so that you can quickly learn the history of each building. One of my favorite features is the large historic looking windmill and fountain near the entrance. The windmill is a recreation of the original 1902 water-pumping windmill and water tower that once served John Sundy's property. It creates a focal point to the development while also celebrating Delray Beach's pioneer heritage. I look forward to seeing the remaining phases completed and watching this unique development continue to grow.

Parking was an issue and it was not even a weekend. We had to park across the street at the Tennis Center. Also noticed that The Taco Stand and a Delray Beach Craft Brewing was coming soon. On my next visit, I want to try the Barcelona Wine Bar.

Huntington Lakes Section Two has a satellite swimming pool. In addition, there is a long, scenic walking trail behind some buildings in Huntington Lakes Section Two. Walk, run, skate or bicycle on the walking trail to keep fit. Located near Jog Road and Lake Ida Road, the nearby San Marco Shopping Plaza has a large Publix, delicious Nino's Italian Restaurant, Ruvens Deli, and a handful of other eateries. San Marco Shopping Plaza has a beauty salon, UPS that takes amazon returns, Walgreens, and other stores. If you are a pet parent, there is a veterinarian in the shopping plaza. Huntington Lakes Section Two is meticulous. You never see a spec of litter anywhere. The community air and buildings smell fresh. You feel a sense of 'tropical serene' with the palm trees by the buildings. Some of the condos need updates for today's trends. There are some beautifully renovated condos with stunning views of paradise. You have the option of simply moving into a renovated condo and immediately enjoy paradise.

We made an appointment with Diego and he came personally to design and give us a free estimate. We had an idea of what we wanted but had no clue what we needed to get there. Our backyard was unleveled and we had a mess of underground roots and tree stumps left over from the hurricanes 2 years ago. We also had a fence that was falling over and rotting due to the pooling of water in our yard whenever it rained. Diego provided solutions to our issues and diagram of what he was planning to do. He also gave us a realistic estimate of how much time it would take to complete. Even with some hiccups that occurred during the process (a sprinkler burst during the digging process which if you know anything about landscaping, happens frequently). Diego and his staff corrected the issue right away and kept us informed through the entire process. We have used landscaping companies in the past and this is the first time we have been so ecstatic about the quality of work and professionalism of a company.
