Conveniently located in the heart of Logan Square on the corner of Milwaukee Ave. & Medill Ave (right by the CTA California blue line stop), this decent-sized tattoo shop is a beauty to behold. The floors are immaculate, the decor is very fitting, and the paintings on the walls are intriguing and exude creativity. The studio has a gallery-feel to it, which is what you want from a custom tattoo shop. Gifford Kasen's work is mindblowing. He knows so much about the craft and composition of tattoos that you will feel completely at ease offering your skin as his canvas. And he really listens to your input. He believes each client's tattoo should reflect that client's desires. Bring him your ideas and he will design a custom tattoo that is completely unique to you. You will never run into anybody that has a tattoo like yours if you have Gifford do it. Also, he will work with you until he arrives at a design you are happy with. And he only charges for the time he is actually tattooing you. Another word of praise for Gifford (who goes by the name "Futureteller" on social media): He knows what designs will translate well into a tattoo and what simply won't. You don't want an artist that will put whatever you ask them to put on your body without confirmation that the design is going to read well as a tattoo and hold up over time. Just love Gifford and his tattoo & art work. You give him an idea and he makes it come alive on your skin, one of a kind tattoo just for you. The shop is first of all comfortable and NOT pretentious (like so many shops are) it's clean & they are very professional and in a really great location! I love that the shop Is Flash Free, just their art work on the walls!! I have a WIP going on and I can not stop looking at it already! These artists and the tattoos they produce are truly nothing short of AMAZING! I sent other people there and they also love their tattoo's they have received from Gifford and other artists there. Moved to Chicago and was looking for someone with fine line/ single needle/ black and white experience and found Christian. I came in for my first consult/apt, hit it off with him, loved my tattoo, and have had 4 more done by him since... and another appointment coming up. I can be indecisive and a pain in the ass (I have stared in front of a mirror for way too long deciding on placement. I have had things redrawn. I've had last minute changes.) and even if he's messing with me while he does it, he's always patient with me and makes sure I'm happy with the final product. He takes his time and I never feel like he's rushing to get a piece done, you can tell he genuinely cares about his work. I've spent a ton of time here this last year and christian aside, the shop as a whole is filled with talented and fun Artists, who make being stuck in a chair or on a table for 4+ hours enjoyable. Awesome shop! I got my tattoo from Kel, who did an amazing job. She took a vague concept I gave her, and came up with a design far superior to anything I would have been able to. Just a testament to how people should trust their tattooer. They know more than we do about what works and will look the best, and put a great deal of work behind the scenes into their craft designing the pieces they ink onto our bodies. Getting upset because they don't respond immediately to an email, or advise against a certain idea is ridiculous. I sat for about 10 or so hours over 2 days, and could not be more happy. If the opportunity arises, I will definitely get more work done here. The shop itself featured great art by all of the tattooers on the walls. Everyone was friendly, and had great relationships with one another, exchanging jokes and stories while also making conversation with their clients. I found the shop in Instagram through Christian Wyse. His work is absolutely stunning! I dm'ed him and he told me to come in for a consultation. I had a design put together and he priced me, scheduled the session and was very friendly! Christian did an amazing job - I couldn't even wish for better outcome! The session was chill he was profession, fun to chat with and made me laugh with some stories. I got sent home with detailed explanation of how to take care of the tattoo and his number in case something was worrying me or I had questions. Overall Wyse is a phenomenal artist and a genuinely nice guy. The shop was very clean, everyone else was super friendly and general vibe was very comfortable. I went to Logan Square tattoo to get a touch up and a small line drawing of my dog on my arm. I went to Wyse because my friend had shown me his work on Instagram and I'm obsessive with lines and shading. It took me a while to get in with him because he is usually booked really far in advance. It was worth the wait. He completely fixed a previous tattoo I had gotten in Berlin and made the line drawing exactly how I wanted. I am truly obsessive when it comes to lines and detail and was extremely happy with how everything came out. As a heads up, the actual tattoos took a while, he was not rushing anything which I really appreciated. Shop is cash only and you do have to book in advance. You will have to come to the shop to do a consultation, but again, well worth it if you're extremely particular on the work (like I am). read more

I have been following Allie Sider from shop to shop since the fall of 2013. Logan Square Tattoo is, by far, my favorite shop in which he's worked. It's clean, bright, and filled with excellent artists who are happy to converse with you if you're in the mood. Gifford, the owner, is particularly amiable, and I always enjoy talking to him about music. Everyone at the shop tries to cultivate an environment that is comfortable for all customers, and they always work to correct any issues that may arise along that front, which I greatly appreciate. It had been 10 years since my first(and, at the time, last) tattoo when I noticed this place. The delay was a lack of creativity on my part. I was referred by my brother to speak to resident artist Mike Mac, and he was able to cobble together my idea into something I'd be proud to have on my skin. The tattoo session itself was great too; not only was this shop clean and professional, but the employees kept a light and fun atmosphere(this was important as I was pretty nervous.) The price was more than reasonable, and the overall experience convinced me to come back for any furure ideas. That was roughly a year ago, and I've since been back for two more projects. Gifford was amazing!!! The space is super clean and I felt really comfortable the whole time. I had been waiting to find the right person to do this for a few years and finally found someone who could take my ideas and turn them into something really beautiful. Also everyone is really friendly and approachable and not intimidating. This was my first tattoo and I feel very good about the whole experience. It didn't take long for me to decide this would be my go-to shop for future work. They nail everything I've seen from biomech to organic/nature, script, traditional... Whatevs. He and Mike are top notch as artists and just as keen as wisecrackers. Don't be surprised if the conversations go from twerking to art history to beer to the origins of the universe. I planned a tattoo around a trip to Chicago this summer. Did research on options around Logan Square area (and there are a ton), and decided to go with LST after reading reviews and checking out their portfolios. Gifford made it easy to set up the appointment long distance. Really responsive over email. Worked with me to refine a design I had in mind. And was flexible enough to make changes up until the needle hit the skin...and even afterwards when I wanted to add some final lines. The final product is beautiful. Really enjoyed my experience at Logan Square Tattoo. I flew in from Louisiana specifically to get a tattoo from Kel. This was not my first tattoo from her, and as always the art was mind blowing. She works incredibly hard to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art for each of her clients. She is also very gentle with her tattooing, but able to pack in long lasting amazing color. Additionally, the shop was a whole was very nice. The other artists were friendly and fun to spend the day with as I was getting needled all day. SO pleased with this space and staff! This was my first tattoo experience so I definitely felt some nervousness, but everyone was super supportive throughout. From the jump, Maya was welcoming and kind on the phone when helping me set up the appointment and coordinate with the artist.
