(I can get a cord in my area of reasonable wood for $75-80 delivered but my normal supplier was out) Usually when you get firewood it is cut/split to a reasonable stove size. Somehow people manage to do this. I have been buying wood for my home and heating with it in winter for 10 years so its not like I have no idea. But not these guys. What I got was 1/3 kindling and woodchips, 1/3 humongous pieces of wood suitable only for an outdoor bonfire, and 1/3 reasonably split wood. And the bill was actually -- surprise! $108, not $95 - supposedly because of taxes -- never have I gotten wood where this was not included in the price quoted. Of course its hard to tell what the wood is like until you stack it which I did -- and then I called them. -- they were just sure I was wrong, but would ck to see if something had gone wrong with my order... of course they never called back. (I have waited weeks in good faith before posting this to give them time to respond, tho not really expecting they wood from the tone on the phone call from them) The customer as far as they were concerned was clueless. No concern for good business ettiquette whatsoever. Skip these guys. Definitely not top of the line - not even close.

They have a nice selection of plants, herbs and vegetables. One big thing I did notice this year was that they dropped the cell size of the vegetable saplings from 4 to 3 but the price stayed the same $1.99. A lot of places are still charging the same price for a 4 cell so keep that in mind. The plants looked really healthy this year so far. I love their Salad Bowls. I always pick up 2 or 3. It's great having access to fresh lettuce everyday. I also came looking for a couple Lemon Cypress trees. Sadly they don't carry them so that was a bit of a disappointment. We did leave with some herbs and vegetable plants though. TIP: Get here early in the season... The plants that they have in the first week or two of opening are a great deal for their size, a large 4" tomato plant will cost you less than $3.

This spring was fairly challenging with some family medical drama taking me to and from the…read morehospital at least several days a week. As such, I didn't get to tending to my garden or yard in the same way I had in previous years. After the first few spring rains the weeds just exploded. I looked at them, totally exhausted, and decided I'd hire someone while I was on vacation the week after to get my bed cleaned up and ready for me to plant in when I returned. I did "request a quote" and within minutes, Deb was calling me to schedule a visit to give me an estimate. She stopped over a few days later, we walked through what I needed to have done (this includes cleaning up a decomposing stump from a dead tree removed by DTW several weeks before) and assured me that it would be taken care of. Two young gentleman showed up the day we were heading out of town so I was able to survey their work. They worked quickly and between the two of them, cleaned up the front and back yard gardens in 3 hours (my entire front yard is a garden so this was a lot of ground to cover) as well as a side garden by our garage. Everything was clean and, aside from a few small weeds that popped up in the days I was gone, heading in and planting a week later was a breeze. I like working in the garden so I didn't hire them for regular maintenance or planting (although it WAS tempting) but they do offer that if you want to keep things tidy and don't have the time or physical ability to do it yourself. But for early or late season clean up, or during busy times, I could definitely see myself calling upon their services again.

Great Outdoors never lets me down!…read more Cesar, Jorge, and Alonso removed grass netting on an acre that didn't take due to the drought and the company who installed it, didn't bother to return my call. They mowed the location and trails afterwards. It was a massive job! Under my large deck, Cesar, Jorge, and Alonso installed chicken wiring and trimmed my shrubs. Brandon and Fernando handled fall clean up on two acres saving me hours of leaf blowing. Most recently, Cesar and Alonso removed a 20' spruce, installed a 10' black spruce, and mulched my beds. I will definitely be scheduling work in the spring. The Great Outdoors staff are a hard working TEAM!

No one was overbearing (a pet peeve of mine!) but jumped up the minute I asked for help. They walked me through all my options and then let me decide. When we first moved to saline around 2000, we needed some trees planted as our yard looked like a…read morebig field. We also had some low lying areas with big puddles. We bought 3 weeping willows and 3 river birch trees from Kevin with installation to be planted in the lowest laying part of the yard. The trees are all still thriving! The price was very reasonable and the trees were planted nice and straight and never moved despite many a 39 mph wind day. I think they must have staked them. Sadly, I had wanted one of the willows to be planted in the most watery part (a part which dries up in the late spring/early summer) because in early spring the lawn right there can't be mowed. I know weeping willows love water. The guys that came to plant the trees came when the ground was wet (it had just barely rained heavily the days right before) and said they couldn't plant a willow there. I asked if they could come back when it was dry and plant it, and they said no, but they could put one willow on each side of the water, so that is what we did. For over 15 years, the spot between the two willows has standing water and can't be mowed until mid-May. It's a small thing I know, but I really wish I had just said, leave a willow then and had someone else come and plant it a couple of weeks later. Still, the trees are doing wonderfully and are huge now! The same cannot be said of another nursery who planted cherry trees for us, all of which died 13 - 14 months after planting (past the one year warranty). Another nursery has planted blue spruces and crab apples all of which we had to adjust because they were all planted slanting to one side. Kevin's and Saline Landscaoe Contractors have both planted trees perfectly and they remained in perfect health. That's 2 out of 4 local companies. If you need lawn mowing, they said they are booked up for spring of 2018. I guess I would call them in the fall of the prior year to which you would need the mowing. Or maybe a year in advance? No one gave me an indication of when to call for future mowing contacts. Maybe they are constantly full unless someone moves away?

We met with Stephanie almost 7 weeks ago on a Thursday and were told we'd get a quote by the end of the following week. To date-nothing. Nothing from Stephanie or her boss in spite of calls and email. If you weren't interested in the project all you had to do is tell us. This company is contracted to provide common area maintenance services and snow removal for our neighborhood and I will advise our HOA regarding their lack of professionalism. You might want to use a company that at least returns you calls.
