Well, it finally happened. Think you are ok with an electronic keypad? Think again! I went outside to warm up my car then came back inside and switched coats. Left my car and house keys in the first coat. Somehow my bottom lock got locked on my way out. Got in my car, "key missing". Hmm, go to house and punch in keypad, door won't open. Bottom lock locked and keys are inside. ‍ I call my friend from work to come get me. While I'm sitting in my car I search up a local locksmith, great Yelp ratings. He came out in the morning within 15 minutes of my phone call (!) and had my door open in hmm 10 seconds? Paid him in cash. I was off to work within minutes. I received a quote 3 days in advance of my appointment for programming remote FOBs for 2 vehicles. I was quoted $211 per vehicle. I was told that quoted price was all-inclusive. The locksmith arrived 20 minutes early and was polite. He had difficulty with the FOBs for both vehicles, but completed both tasks. I had a great experience with Lock Monkeys and highly recommend them! Recently I moved into a new house, and I only had one set of keys until I finally found a box of miscellaneous keys that the listing realtor had left behind, hidden in a cabinet. When I saw the personalized keys I realized that the locks in the house were probably the same ones that the previous owner have been using. I had no way of knowing how many copies of keys they had given to friends and neighbors over the years. (Personally, I know that when I have lived any place more than a few years, I have given at least three or four friends their own keys that were never returned when I moved out.) Plus, two of the doors have windows in them, and the single cylinder bolt could have easily been opened by simply breaking the glass, reaching in and flipping the bolt open. (I really don't understand why anyone would put such a low-security type of lock on a glass door/door with glass!) So, not only was I feeling uneasy about the fact that someone (or a neighbor) could be walking around with another set of keys to my house, but a criminal could easily break the glass and walk into my house. I ordered new double cylinder deadbolt locks from Home Depot (the kind that require a key on both sides of the door); I have always had double cylinder locks on the doors in my home since I was a child. If there is not a window near the door, we would just keep the key inside the lock and use it as a thumb bolt. If there was a window anywhere nearby, we usually tied it to a string and hung it close by so that we had easy access to unlock it in case of an emergency. (Anyone who rejects double cylinder locks as a "safety issue," in my opinion, has not considered enough options that keep double cylinder locks just as safe as any other type of lock.) Initially, someone offered to install the locks for me for me, but he didn't really know how to do the job, and I would later find out, there are issues with my doors. I called Lock Monkeys, and within a couple of hours Andy was at my house installing the locks that I had purchased. he was very pleasant and very professional. He also showed me how my doors were misaligned from their frames, past attempts at repairs had used caulk in some areas, and what he was able to do to secure my home without having to purchase new doors or frames immediately. (I bought the house in an "as is" condition and realized that I was going to have to make some changes and invest some money.) in the meantime, Andy did exactly what I needed him to do, which was to secure the doors that felt unsafe to me. He explained that when I replace the doors, the locks I've already purchased can transfer easily, and I might not need new doors at all but simply a carpenter to come and make some repairs. He made some good suggestions, and I don't feel like he was trying to "upsell" anything to me, because I also was interested, which is to have them come back out and install more secure door jamb reinforcements. To conclude this long winded review, I repeat that I highly recommend Lock Monkeys Locksmiths They were here quickly, did good work, plus Andy was friendly and professional. George just came out and took care of the mustang. My boyfriend locked his keys inside while running at 8:45am. I called LockMonkeys at 8:54, they answered quickly and said they'd be here in 20 mins. I sat outside waiting with my dog and 20 mins later I seen the van pulling in. It's clearly labeled so I felt more comfortable considering my boyfriend took my car to the airport instead. We called our Roadside Assistant company because the lock on our motor home broke inside so we were locked out....and our 3 pugs were inside. We were told that it would be about a half hour, but George was there within 15 minutes! Very refreshing to have such a quick response!! In the end, we weren't able to get the lock fixed because it's a specialty thing, but George went through a window so that we could get the door opened from the inside...to me this was above and beyond his "duty"!
