Our family went to Lochsloy Acres today for some pumpkins to carve. We heard that their pricing was reasonable compared to the mega agro-tourism farms in Snohomish. We were so pleased to find that good sized medium pumpkins were only $5 and smaller pumpkins were only $1- we literally paid more at Costco and had a fun time in the rain. What a shame this place has changed ownership and the new owners are charging ridiculous fees just to reserve a tree. That fee will not even go towards the cost of the tree. We used to come here every year as a family but not anymore. I'm guessing the quality of the trees will also be going down as well. read more

New Owners. Have added a $40 surcharge to reserve the tree, then come back and cut down. This has always been included in the price of the tree. The justification for the extra charge? The sign says reserving a tree is Labor intensive. The only labor is me coming back to cut down the tree myself. This is why more and more people are moving to artificial trees. read more

Looked everywhere for a Christmas tree this year without luck. Today I went to Lochsloy acres and was able to get two trees; one for me and one for my mom. Met the new owners who were very nice. They met me as soon as I arrived and pointed out where the trees were that I was looking for. All the workers were also very nice and helpful. They helpedme with my trees, shook them, trimmed the bottom, netted them, and loaded them into my car. It was a great experience! read more

We've been coming to Lochsloy acres for a very long time, and knew they were changing owners this year. We were saddened about the $40 extra fee to reserve, as that seemed really steep over the cost of the tree. We still decided to come out after Thanksgiving, as the farm has been an important part of our holidays for many years. When we arrived, the person greeting was not very friendly, and went into how to pick trees. While the tagging process was similar, we were told that if we picked a tree that did not have the correct tag we would have to pay $100 extra dollars over the price of the tree. When we got out onto the lot, there seemed to be a ton of beautiful, ready to cut Grands around the lot, but none of them were priced for sale. Most of these were trimmed, 6 - 8 foot trees with no colored tags on them, and we were nervous to pick something wrong due to the extra price if we made a mistake. We ended up getting a nice Noble from the pre cut area, which we are happy with, but were saddened to learn that the pre cut trees didn't even come from Lochsloy acres, but a farm in Mount Vernon. I know that this is the first year for them, and as a new small business owner myself, know there is a huge learning curve. But it seems like there were a lot of missteps here that alienate past clientele, and turn away new ones. I will be watching this year to see if they update their website in the hopes that things get more streamlined, and truly do wish them well.... but in all likelihood will also start looking for another tree farm to continue our tree cutting traditions at. read more

The last few years have been rough for u cut tree farms.This was our first year visiting Lochsloy Acres. It was great! The trees were well marked with prices. The crew was super helpful and quick with preparing the tree. They had U cut and pre cut trees. The prices were way more affordable than the pre-cut down the street. The trees have obviously been well maintained and trimmed throughout the year. Definitely would recommend for a Snohomish County u-cut farm. read more

I don't review often. But having had such a negative experience at Lochsloy, I feel it's deserved and worth sharing. Mine was a sad beginning to the holidays and in the end, we think our tree was cursed! Only half kidding...but it did have spiders and died early. My friend's had aphids. More specifics: the reservation system is convoluted with computer glitches and bold, all cap warnings to follow the rules. The site on its face doesn't appear friendly which I suspect is a reflection of Sheila, who I believe is an owner. In my attempt to understand it and coordinate reservations with a friend, I encountered her wrath and the most unkind, undiplomatic and unwarranted email communications. I should've called it then. But I didn't... Once I actually arrived to the lot, entry signs felt like warnings. Nothing remotely festive about it. When you pick your tree, you're given a flimsy plastic tape. Given that it's a pretty vast lot, I worried my tree would still be there when I returned to cut it. Some people bring decorations but I didn't know that and though they seemed to have them available behind the checkout window, they weren't offered at the beginning and I didn't ask at the end because when Sheila heard my name while paying for my tree, she took the opportunity to admonish me for not canceling a reservation I'd made by mistake. This was after scolding one of her workers in full view. Reading reviews once I came home that first day, I saw my experience wasn't unique. It's too bad, finding your Christmas tree should be fun. These guys were amazing, we had been looking all day for a tree but nothing grabbed it attention from any farm we went to. We drove past this one and we only had about 30 minutes of light left. Even though they were closed and just getting the last people out, they let us go in and have us about 20 minutes, we didn't see anything right off the bat do we were getting ready to leave but the new owners were like let's walk over here and see if you can find something. And we did, but they wanted to make sure we weren't just picking one to have one they do have a lot of trees to choose from and the prices are better than what we had seen all day. This was the first time we have gotten a tree here. We went on Nov 23rd to reserve our tree. Everyone we encountered was friendly & helpful. They have lots of beautifully shaped full trees on a very level large lot. They have at least 4 species & don't sell anything under 6ft. We arranged to pick up our tree on Dec 7th & paid the extra $8 to have them cut it & bail it for us that morning. When we arrived there where only a few cars in the parking lot & plenty of staff ready to assist. They found our tree all ready to go & even tied it down onto the car for us. The kid who tied our tree down was very polite & respectful. Overall it was a great experience & we will be back next year for sure!! As will some of my friends and coworkers! I just can't get over how beautiful this tree is! We did have to cut about 4 inches off the bottom and some of the bottom branches as it was just a little too tall. read more

This is run by an awesome couple. Very knowledgeable about Christmas trees and the whole atmosphere was really fun. They have free cocoa and cider! They have a train setup with a blow up Santa clause. We went with a Nordland tree that was recommended because they don't need as much water to last thru the Christmas season. They provide everything you need to cut the tree down and take it home. I took the whole family and we enjoyed every minute of it. They are also one of the only places that are open prior to Thanksgiving. We will make a tradition of going out there. Merry Christmas Mike and Sheila! read more

Absolutely the worst experience of any tree farm Iv ever been too. I have been coming to this place for 8 years and after today I'll never come back. If I could leave no stars I would. I wait in line on the side of the road for about 30 min. The owner comes out and sets a sign that says they are closed. I ask her " hey your website says your open till 4:00 " to which she reply's " I don't care what my website says I'm closing " so needles to say my family and all my friends will never come back again. If she wasn't a bitch I would have looked past it, but she was and I'll make sure everyone know it. read more

If you like being yelled at, this is the place for you! Incredibly rude older woman yelling at customers as they/we pulled in. We decided to leave... you may sell out every year (for now) but that doesn't give you the right to yell at families and their children when we didn't do anything wrong. Awesome trees, reasonable prices, friendly & helpful staff. I loved that it doesn't feel like a carnival like so many agri-tourism farms have turned into the past several years. This feels authentically quaint, and simple without all the annoying excess hoopla. The only downside is Hwy 92: both exiting to the farm and from the farm feel dangerous; the Hwy has gotten insanely busy due to all the developments going in and poor infrastructure and people generally drive like entitled a$€h0£&$. The tree farm itself mitigates their part of the busyness by allowing customers to come by appointment only, so at least the parking lot and farm are not a blathering mess!! read more

Aalthough we arrived at the farm today 30 minutes before the closing time listed on the farm's Facebook page and the parking lot was full of cars and people, we were turned away at the gate. There was a man posted there and a rope across the entrance with a "festive" closed sign. A very poor way to conduct business, especially when people drive many miles to go there. read more

We love this place and have been coming here for five years. The staff are friendly and helpful and they will shake and bag your tree for free (I recall other places charging for that). We also enjoy their yearly email highlighting what's been going on at the farm and what trees will be in stock. The downside is that their system - with trees marked off that at are already reserved and paid for- is a little annoying and confusing. I can easily see how the one other reviewer's negative experience could easily occur. Parking is a little tight, but we've always had good luck getting there right when they open. read more

The worst experience ever! I wanted just a few family photos taken by a friend since our family photographer cancelled twice and we needed photos to make Christmas cards. We were also gonna be shopping for a tree while we took photos. We were told how dare we take up two parking spots on such a busy day for only 20 minutes ( mind you 95% of the parking spots were available since they just opened) i was going to buy a tree and my friend was going to buy a wreath= two sales.... = stupid of the old grumpy lady who didn't let us come and take a few snaps, so that we could make a beautiful family Christmas card-I'm so disappointed and will NEVER step foot on there properly again and will also spread the word! Going to another local tree farm to support a family business. Shame on you, what a terrible holiday experience. Update: after having a few days to think about our experience and digest it, why in God's name would a small business not want free advertising, and on top of that, if they have rules, I can understand and respect that, but to be talked to in the rude manner that old lady employee talked to us, and unwelcoming rude manner it saddens me. And that person should not be in the customer service business. Working customer service myself, I understand rules are meant to be followed but the fact she was so rude makes me so angry. Not helpful/nice one bit and just overall total opposite of the "nice happy holiday experience" we went to wintergreen and could not have asked for a better experienced there! It was our first trip here and I read the reviews about the tree tag system. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a person informing us about the tag process. After reading the reviews I was ready to pay attention and possibly fight about the tags. All in all the system seemed simple and everyone was nice. The older lady showed us where to find the type of tree we wanted and how the tags marked the price and the species of each tree. The place was nice and dry with flat smooth ground. They had sleds to pull kids and trees, saws, gloves and kneeling pads . We had a lot of fun looking for a tree. They obviously trim and groom the trees and keep the ground clear. We had a great time till we brought the tree to pay for it. As soon as I ripped off the perforated end of the tag a kid said "you aren't suppose to remove that". Every person who handled the tree afterwards asked where the tag was. Some one there put the fear of god into those kids about the tags. No one was rude and I got a kick out of the missing tag I still tipped and had fun. Especially after I paid so much attention determined not to screw up the tag system. read more

Unfourtunatley after several years of our family having a fun time getting our tree at Lochsloy Acres, we won't be returning after this year's experience. We were greeted by friendly faces as usual, and given a quick refresher on their tagging system, and then pointed in the direction of the type of tree we were looking for. We saw a lot of very nice and well trimmed trees and enjoyed our time just walking through the fields. After about 45 minutes of looking, we decided that one of the first trees we saw was one that we liked the best. This farm allows people to reserve trees and come back later to cut them down. All of the reserved trees are very clearly marked with several sold signs, and wrapped in striped tape. So they are impossible to miss. We again found the tree we liked, gave it one more look to be sure it was the one we wanted to cut. We cut it down and happily hauled it up to the barn. We were again promptly greeted. Someone helped us shake the tree and put it up on the table. He then suddenly stopped speaking to us and dashed off somewhere. Another woman with a clipboard arrived and started asking us if we had reserved this tree and we told her we had not. She said this tree had already been reserved, and the other gentleman was out in the field where we cut it down to figure out what happened. He returned and immediately accused us of "tag swapping" and told us we needed to leave immediately. We tried to explain that we would never try to take another families tree and that there must have been a misunderstanding. There were absolutely no tags on the tree except the blue price tag. We spoke for a few minutes and he was very upset with us. We explained that we had been coming to their farm for years and would never do such a thing. I felt completely awful for the family who's tree we unknowingly cut down. The man eventually said we could go find another tree, but still spoke to us in a way that made us feel very unwelcome. We wandered back out to the field where we had cut down the first tree to see if we had missed something. At this point I felt unwelcome and that our experience had been ruined. Sadly we decided to leave empty handed. I contacted the owners later that day to express our disappointment and try to figure out what happened. Sheila's response was somewhat offputting. They felt that our "story" was improbable, but not completely impossible and that's why they gave us the "benefit of doubt". And she wanted to let me know that the real owner of our tree came in later that afternoon very upset that it was cut down, but relieved to find it in the barn. And noted that "at least they were able to make one customer happy today". Sheila told me that she normally goes out to the fields each morning to check every reserved tree and make sure it is appropriately tagged and accounted for, but finally admitted that she had neglected to do it that morning. She summed up by saying that there are plenty of tree farms in Snohomish for us to choose from. I feel that if they had stuck to their protocol and checked the reserved trees before they opened, this error likely would have been caught and the tags could have been fixed. Which would have saved us a lot of grief and public humiliation. I also feel that our experience could have been salvaged if they had simply spoken to us like adults while we tried to figure out what happened, instead of being scolded like children and accused of being theives. I am sad that this family tradition has ended, and that we will have to search for a new farm. If you do visit Lochsloy Acres, I would recommend asking a staff person to come out to the field to verify that your tree is tagged correctly so you avoid this embarrassment. read more
