Very good food and the service was very attending. We ordered the pimento cheese and seafood dip as appetizers and both were devoured quickly. We came here for my dad's birthday and I can say we would definitely come back again! I got the seafood tacos which were good, the cod was a little dry however. The potato chips that came with it were perfectly crisp and seasoned. My dad got the chicken artichoke which came with a generous portion of food. Late Post: Came here back in December for drinks only. Service was okay. There were 2 bartenders behind the bar, we unfortunately had the female bartender who hardly engaged with us. My drink was okay (Poolside), Nothing that wowed me, which is unfortunate because this was a signature cocktail. The bartender added too much cinnamon and ginger which overpowered the drink. My sister's fiance's drink was DISGUSTING. He didn't even drink it, I felt bad he had to pay for it (don't order the John Boat. It was basically just ginger which is just poor bartending). However my sister's drink was surprisingly very good, she ordered the Lakeside. There was some drama involving some of the other guests. One lady in her 50s was very intoxicated. But I'm not rating based on that. Just rating on my experience, which was "meh." Didn't feel welcomed nor were the drinks anything special to come back for. read more

Traveling home from South Carolina and we were looking for anything other than fast food. This was a tremendous surprise. We loved everything about the experience. Very cool and quaint little restaurant in downtown Braselton. The building was once a long time gas/service station that was redone inside and out, still retaining some of their original materials. Parking near the restaurant can be a bit challenging, but there is a large parking garage across the street. We had the lobster roll (excellent!) and the shrimp tacos (very good, but had a bit too much pickled cabbage). Has a full bar, can beer only but a good craft selection. read more

Soooo...meh. I wish the food & service tasted as good as the menu sounds. 10 minutes for the waiter to stop by. The drink from the bar took 15 minutes to arrive...on a Friday at 4:30? With less than 15 other patrons? Medium rare steak? Medium well. Brisket? Dry & bland. And the 'mushroom risotto' was dry rather creamy and covered in a cheese so overpowering all you could taste was...well...sour & funk. And the worst part was that we left hungry. Wasn't a great first time experience for us at all! My daughter's food had hair in dish and spoiled her appetite. Kitchen was close to our seats and we constantly heard a server using very profane words about a customer. So unprofessional I must say and ruined the experience. I love this area of Braselton but only wish that it was more pedestrian-friendly for getting between the library, antique stores, and then across the road to the green space and the hardware building with additional retail and dining. The corner featuring what is now Local Station is at the end of a small side street that also has a small bakery and a salon/gift store, but doesn't really give that "stroll-around-downtown-vibe." I already love the food at Jack's, so I was hoping that Local Station would exceed my expectations simply because of the hipper location, higher prices, and more unique menu options. (Speaking of menu, as of writing this, the only menu that I've found available online consisted of just the front page, so I took a photo of the back of the menu, and their website still says "Coming Soon.") I would've liked to have sat outside but the weather was iffy, so the adorable bartender, after asking us if it was our first time dining there, gave us a thoughtful tour and background on the building. The interior flow is a little unusual, going from the bar, to a small dining room (that incidentally, has a very exposed wall where one waits on the single-use, but beautifully-decorated bathrooms) through a small drink-station hallway, then through part of the kitchen, finally ending in a larger dining area. Kind of strange, but I suppose it wouldn't have fazed me if we had entered at the non-bar doorway. Our server was very nice and attentive, and thoughtfully gave me a large plate of mixed greens to amp up my very sad caprese salad. (I wouldn't recommend ordering it if it's your only meal, because even though I had mine with grilled steak added on top, it still was made up of only many, many mozzarella balls, and many, many grape tomatoes. My toddler would've thought that it was a plate of bouncey balls.) The balsamic drizzle around the plate coupled with a heavy grind of sea salt, and the additional much-appreciated greens made it more a meal, but truthfully, I sniggled many of the delicious chips off of my husband's burger plate. I was thrilled to see that by the time we were finishing lunch, the place was packed. I hope that they thrive, but I also hope that they maybe offer a separate lunch from dinner menu as it was a little pricey for a two-person casual lunch. (Competing with Cotton Calf across the street, I suppose, but Jack's and Jeffrey's are both well-known Braselton staples, so I think that Local Station will do well.) read more

We have eaten at local station a handful of times and so far I've been impressed with everything except the lobster roll. Though the lobster tastes fresh, it come in a slice of toasted wonder bread and is the smallest lobster roll I've ever had. Their blue Jack chips are incredible! They don't sound good but they taste amazing and are quite an eye catcher as well. You get a lot of them so it's a great appetizer for a small group. Their turkey burgers are okay, nothing too amazing but their chicken tenders are a great size and come with quite a few. Their ahi tuna is our favorite appetizer so far. They sear the tuna just right. The California taco is more like a burrito and has pickled cabbage that is really yummy. Everything is fresh, you have to wait a bit for your food but the atmosphere is fun. The building itself has a lot of history and it's fun to it inside, at the bar or outside. read more

Just left there. We're an older African American couple who decided to try this restaurant on our way back from visiting our family in Belmont, North Carolina. We had a 30 minute wait time before we were seated. Then,we were asked if we wouldn't mind taking a table outside and we said ok. So, whole we were waiting to be served, the 2 staff who were working the tables just ignored us. After 20 minutes, an older couple said, "We had the same issue waiting long for someone to recognize us." Finally, we had to leave because the waitress came out, bypassed us again, and went to wait on another table that had just been seated. I told the young lady who seated us what happened, but she wasn't helpful. We may be older and black, but we have the same green that could have helped their sales today. Racism and/or ageism, not sure, but it definitely occurred today at this restaurant. read more

I always enjoy a country style kitchen restaurant set up in a cottage style older house. The Local Station is attractive to me that way. They have a Bar set up as soon as you walk in the Door. The Lady Bartender is friendly and attentive, and sure can multi-task at the same time. There are a couple of rooms set up inside the house. We were seated at the Front Room with 3 other 4 people table; and there's a bigger room with more tables passed the Kitchen. Our waitress is friendly and efficient. We shared an appetizer - The Lobster and Shrimp Dip with Pita chips. It was quite delicious. Then I had a shrimp bowl with grits, and my husband ordered the Mushroom Cream Soup and a Turkey Sandwich. All the dishes taste good and fresh in the making. We will definitely go back and try more dishes. read more

I like craft cocktails and I cannot lie. After reaching that "I'm dying and need food" stage, this little gem of a place rescued me. One of those busy "to-do list" days turned around completely because of this place. A yummy snack? I had the chicken "feathers" with their homemade chips. And a beautiful but simple cocktail, "The Lakeside", made with Aviation gin. A spirit from the Pacific Northwest, and one of the best damn gins ever. I coupled up my chicken feathers with a butter lettuce salad. Perfect. After moving here from a "foodie town" Jack's rescued me. If you like to eat food that raises the bar on the old standards, this is your place. If you like craft cocktails without fighting some crazy traffic, then bingo, you just found won ANOTHER prize. Disappointed, yet again. Our appetizer, the charcuterie board arrived minutes before our dinner plates. Not the fault of our server; they'd run out of the boards and had to make one fresh (funny I assumed they would be made fresh). My son's plain cheeseburger arrived with everything on it and my lobster roll was a disappointment; not sure there was even a claw's worth of meat on it for $18. Braselton certainly has classed itself up over the years. This small once-bankrupt town has blossomed into a suburban nightlife Mecca. I know this because it's fun to walk around downtown, and the restaurants are expensive. Like most fancy restaurants here, the Local Station is overpacked on a Friday night. My better half and I sat at the bar, which appears to be an old converted garage/gas station. At the recommendation of our excellent bartender - Sarah - we ordered brisket sliders and salmon chowder for appetizers. These were an excellent choice! Then Sarah made me a fantastic Bloody Mary. Finally, my wife had a "bowl" with risotto, steak, and garlic white wine. I had the the shrimp linguini. I was so stuffed with good food, that I had to take most of the linguini home. Great food, great service (thanks Sarah!) and great value here at Local Station. Five stars!! read more

We went to Local Station for the first time a few nights ago with family. I'm giving it a solid 3 stars because there were some things that were awesome but some things that were just okay. To start, the beer and cocktails were really good, especially the red sangria. No complaints there! The other part that was fabulous was the appetizers: we split the baked brie and the blue jack chips. Both were delicious and devoured quickly; they do not skimp on the sauce. Now to the just okay: the entrees. We liked the two versions of shrimp and grits, but neither was a standout. I had the stuffed pork chop. The pork chop itself was nice (it was not dry, which is always a gamble), but the wild mushroom risotto was, sadly, underwhelming. It seemed undercooked, as it wasn't crunchy but wasn't soft either, and it just was not as flavorful as I had expected. The wild mushrooms were nice... but it just didn't come together. We will definitely be back, but I think we will focus on sandwiches and appetizers, as that seems to be where Local Station shines. read more

Starting off with the wait staff...our server, Taylor, was the absolute nicest young lady I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. She was sweet, very respectful and courteous and took the time to explain the menu to us...from the drink menu to the food menu. We never had to wait for her to come back and check on us. She came back frequently and to check us. Next the food and special drink menu...the choice were all appealing and did not disappointed. The food was excellent and the potions were huge. The crab dip was pretty good but the "brisket" sliders Taste and look like pulled pork, still good but it's not your typical brisket. Onto the Main entrees, BIG problem with not being able to switch out sides. It's $5 to add another so that would have been a deal breaker coming if I had known & should be printed on the menu. The burger was good and sweet potatoes were amazing but lacking salt. The stuffed pork chop was bland as well, the mushroom risotto was really gross even my fiancé said there was zero flavor. Comfy little spot with decent food. Has a new American vibe and price. I have only come for lunch but was impressed both times. Most recently I tried the double stack burger with cheese and bacon. Burger tasted fresh and juicy. I paired the burger with sweet potato fries at a $4 up charge which was a little pricey but they were delicious. I do have to complaints. 1. I sat in the small dining area near the restroom. I know the building is old and was a converted garage but the floor felt like it was going to fall through. Every time someone walked by it felt like an earthquake where the floor was going to collapse. 2. They don't have ranch dressing which was odd, the waitress explained "the cooks don't like ranch". This is an American restaurant that sells salads, burgers, fries, etc. so at least offer it as an option. Other than that everything was great and I would definitely come back. Very cute place! I ordered the steak bowl. The steak was dry. Was charge $2 for extra sauce. I get an up charge for extras, but $2 is excessive. The hostesses were eating the whole time up at the stand. One was not pleasantly eating pita the whole time. One was eating out of the garnish tray at the bar in between touching her hair and face. This was not our first time..... I have been for lunch with friends and had a decent salad with salmon as well as a dinner with hubby and some friends that was juat "ok" on another occasion with friends, but after tonight, do not believe we will be returning, as just not worth the money. We made reservations early in the evening for a table of four and were seated immediately. While we WERE seated immediately, we were placed at a table in a room that only had one other current table occupied and our table was positioned right next to an entryway, with a door, which folks and staff entered and exited thru to get to the rest of the restaurant. Everytime it was opened, we were treated to a VERY cold breeze/draft. (We weren't only ones cold as another patron asked if heat could be raised.) I think there were three other tables of four that were open and should have been accessed first. Others were seated eventually at said tables and it became so loud, we could barely hear each other on top of the music playing. (could have been lowered; too loud for a small room with low ceiling.) The waitstaff was very pleasant and accomodating and took all of our drink orders. We all placed our orders and my husband and I both ordered the Rib Eye steak. It came with two sides, one of which was already listed on the menu selection (mashed potatoes). I chose the Spinach and hubby ordered the Asparagus. Our biggest complaint is the temperature of the food when it came to the table. The meat was room temp which I understand steak is rested upon plating amd can't sit under any warming lamp with risk of the continuing to cook past tequested doneness, but sides should never be put on the plate until "ready" to deliver. The mashed potatoes looked like they had been put in a form of some kind and flipped onto the plate. As I stuck my fork into the potatoes, they were hard/crusted and cool, like they had sat at the pass-thru since the steak had come off the grill to "rest". I mean these were not creamy mashed potatoes, they were hard, dry, formed, stiff and cold potatoes, like refrigerator leftovers. The spinach was a very uninteresting pile of green leaves, cooked beyond what they should have been for that early in the evening and pretty tasteless. Spinach is one of my favorite veggies, but this serving would have made a spinach lover decide never to trust spinach "out" again! Very bland. Also the entire stalk/stem was still attached, not trimmed; making them harder to chew/swallow...not appetizing at all. My husband's asparagus was over cooked, and pretty tasteless as well. The steak was prepared correctly as ordered, and was a tender piece of meat and not too marbled, but nothing overly exciting in the taste department. I believe only thing I really tasted was pepper.....Since we were there with friends, we did not want to make a fuss to the mgmt. While I havent asked our friends how their meal was, I can not speak to their choices. (One finished their meal but the other did not.) Overall, just not worth the money for the evening..... We tried Local Station on Sunday night after seeing so many great posts about their good and drink. We were quoted a 30-minute wait but were seated after 15 minutes. They put us in the back dining room which honestly looked more like their break room. Personal items on tables, one staff member on break, dishes that hadn't been bussed and nobody else seated back there. They were out of the wine I wanted, the sweet potato fries, and lobster roll my husband wanted. But the food we received was great and service was good. The back dining room is open to the kitchen and we could hear all the conversations between servers and cooks. Not a relaxing atmosphere and many of the conversations should not be within earshot of customers. Next time we will ask for outdoor seating or sit in the bar area to avoid this back dining room. read more
