The place has a nice vibe, great outdoor patio for dining, good music. The internet is more dark with few windows, a true bar. I'd choose outside weather permitting. Server was very nice, didn't hover but made sure we had all we needed. Had fish tacos, and salad. A lil too much cabbage on the tacos then needed for my taste. The flavor was very good. The food tasted good once I finally got a hot plate served, though I only ever got 1/2 my meal. Other people at my table only got 1/2 their meals too. And My dinner companions can't all say the same about the temperature of their food as 1/2 of it was cold. After sitting for 2 hours waiting for food and maybe a drink refill the manager dismissed us saying that they were too busy and that's why tables seated after us were already leaving. Horrible service and horrible management. I will never spend my hard earned money in this shit hole again. read more

The chicken sandwich is the best I've ever had in my life! I'm not even kidding. The breading they use on the outside makes it so crisp and delicious. It's unreal how yummy this is! I took my husband here for his birthday after visiting Local with my girl friends. Their burger size are huge and pretty juicy! We have gluten and dairy allergies and the witness was really friendly and helpful. Too bad they don't have gluten buns and only have lettuce wraps. The yam fries are huge as well and I love that they have truffle lemon aloie which remind me of one of our favourite garment gluten free burger joint in Victoria BC has so many aloie options includes truffle ones !!! Our family was so happy to stumble upon this place on our road trip to the West Coast. I am not surprised that this restaurant nabbed quite a number of positive yelp reviews before we set foot in here. What struck me first was the amazing décor and unique ambiance of the place. I was particularly impressed with all the bar taps hanging from the ceiling, the comfortable booths and the ambient lighting. I was also impressed with the large outdoor patio. The menu offers burgers, jerk chicken, wings, salads, taco's and such as well as a seared Ahi Tuna sandwich (which I selected.) While I enjoyed my meal, I would recommend that the fish be presented in an open faced sandwich with some type of sauce drizzled on top. The delicious tuna steak is a little lost hidden between two pieces of rye bread. Note: Gluten free options are provided here! The waitress assured me that the cooks are knowledgeable and that the grill would be thoroughly cleaned for us. Nice! Medicine Hat is not a big place and I'd say this town is lucky to have them. This was a fun stop in Medicine Hat for lunch while on our way to SK. We were able to get a seat (booth) right away and fill our bellies with great food. I loved the decor. Modern, warm & welcoming. The empty growlers with lights around the booths are a nice touch as is all the bar taps hanging from the ceiling circling the bar. Whenever a server comes to the table and says this is so & so - they are training today, you automatically get a tad concerned about how your food and/or service may turn out. But there were no issues and everything was spot on. Between the five of us we had burgers, chicken tacos, fries, huevos rancheros and hand made guacamole and chips, everything was super tasty and delicious. And quick! A great stop and place we will visit again. And they have a super cool patio in the front which I imagine is hopping in the summer! After visiting the Medalta complex in Medicine Hat, an amazing museum and working studio we stopped in at the Local for dinner. Well, really it was also a matter of sampling the local brews. Here we found a great selection of beer on tap. For a pub like atmosphere that food selection was quit good although perhaps not as adventurous as some brew pubs have become in resently, however the number of dishes was much broader than a brew pubs usual menu. It took some time to look through the options and decide. I went for The Super Freeken Salad and enjoyed it a great deal. read more

Great food at this busy and happening restaurant in Medicine Hat. We went mid week for dinner and drinks. Listened to the live band while we waited for our food. I had the curry rice bowl which was packed with flavor and a good portion of chicken. Great food and patio in the Medicine Hat core. I had the fish tacos at the Local and they were delicious. As they were served individually I asked the waitress how many I should have in order to be full and she suggested 3. The three tacos were about an appropriately sized meal and were very delicious. After I had finished all 3 I definitely wanted a fourth but I'm glad I hadn't ordered one. Everyone else I was with also enjoyed their meals. I ate here for lunch today for the first time. We arrived at about 12:45 and still had to wait a bit for a table - good sign if the place is busy. I had the Press Burger with Cheddar. The burger was obviously freshly made in house, and was very juicy and delicious. It came out a little pink inside which I love! The cheddar was actual real cheese, not the processed junk. The bun was a soft egg bread roll, and it held together right up to the last bite. The fries were tasty, although they came out tepid and a little soggy. The atmosphere is good - friendly but not too loud. Good rock music in the background. Service was friendly, and the food came out pretty quick. I will definitely return. Frequently. P.S. It's a very modern urban lounge in Medicine Hat where people go to see and be seen. The place is always busy. Nice outdoor patio but dark inside with brick and several TV screens. Limited menu that focuses on appetizers and burgers. They only serve 14 ounce sleeves of beer but charge the price of a pint. I almost wrote the place off then my tuna filet sandwich arrived. It was excellent with a lot of stuffings, avocado, tomato, lettuce, etc.. The garden salad was also great with radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, mixed greens with arugula lettuce. A friend and I have visited this restaurant several times over several years and every visit has been enjoyable. This time around their Hand-pressed Sliders were a hit, the juicy patties amped by secret sauce and grilled onion with just the right amount of char. The yam fries with parmesan were good although I didn't care for the truffle oil that topped the accompanying lemon mayo.
