This is just more of what I took earlier. It's just a very good environment great combo Mad Hatters comedy club Saturday

The food was amazing. I am a vegetarian, and they made me a rice mushroom burger with an amazing salad of greens.

The chicken sandwich is the best I've ever had in my life! I'm not even kidding. The breading they use on the outside makes it so crisp and delicious. It's unreal how yummy this is! We shared the press burger and the chicken sandwich with Yan fries and greens! Both were amazing in flavor but the chicken just blew the burger out of the water! Parking wasn't too bad. We parked about a block away on the street.

    The environment

Man they really gotta get chocolate milk uf they don't get chocolate milk I'm Fr gonna have to step up and get it for them, I will be setting up a chocolate milk stand on the 26 of September outside of the local for all the poor people who end up eating here without chocolate milk. The food is truly amazing though and I do love the environment.

Our family was so happy to stumble upon this place on our road trip to the West Coast. I am not surprised that this restaurant nabbed quite a number of positive yelp reviews before we set foot in here. What struck me first was the amazing décor and unique ambiance of the place. I was particularly impressed with all the bar taps hanging from the ceiling, the comfortable booths and the ambient lighting. I was also impressed with the large outdoor patio. The menu offers burgers, jerk chicken, wings, salads, taco's and such as well as a seared Ahi Tuna sandwich (which I selected.) While I enjoyed my meal, I would recommend that the fish be presented in an open faced sandwich with some type of sauce drizzled on top. The delicious tuna steak is a little lost hidden between two pieces of rye bread. Note: Gluten free options are provided here! The waitress assured me that the cooks are knowledgeable and that the grill would be thoroughly cleaned for us. Nice! Medicine Hat is not a big place and I'd say this town is lucky to have them. When we get back home we are planning to post a few pictures of the Local Public Eatery.

This was a fun stop in Medicine Hat for lunch while on our way to SK. We were able to get a seat (booth) right away and fill our bellies with great food. I loved the decor. Modern, warm & welcoming. The empty growlers with lights around the booths are a nice touch as is all the bar taps hanging from the ceiling circling the bar. Whenever a server comes to the table and says this is so & so - they are training today, you automatically get a tad concerned about how your food and/or service may turn out. But there were no issues and everything was spot on. Between the five of us we had burgers, chicken tacos, fries, huevos rancheros and hand made guacamole and chips, everything was super tasty and delicious. And quick! A great stop and place we will visit again. And they have a super cool patio in the front which I imagine is hopping in the summer! Happy to learn we also have a Local Public Eatery in Calgary!

Huge patio, full on a Sunday I went inside for the 11-5 brunch Eggs Bennie, soft poached Came 1 soft 1 hard on toasted English muffins ( not soft, toasted! Yay), a tiny piece of ham on each, wafer thin, very nice hollandaise A few egg shells in the eggs (both) Big surprise was last nights baked potatoes tossed almost whole in the griddle and reheated / yuck At least wash the dirt off or peel them or dice them, see photo

After visiting the Medalta complex in Medicine Hat, an amazing museum and working studio we stopped in at the Local for dinner. Well, really it was also a matter of sampling the local brews. Here we found a great selection of beer on tap. For a pub like atmosphere that food selection was quit good although perhaps not as adventurous as some brew pubs have become in resently, however the number of dishes was much broader than a brew pubs usual menu. It took some time to look through the options and decide. I went for The Super Freeken Salad and enjoyed it a great deal.

It's a very modern urban lounge in Medicine Hat where people go to see and be seen. The place is always busy. Nice outdoor patio but dark inside with brick and several TV screens. Limited menu that focuses on appetizers and burgers. They only serve 14 ounce sleeves of beer but charge the price of a pint. I almost wrote the place off then my tuna filet sandwich arrived. It was excellent with a lot of stuffings, avocado, tomato, lettuce, etc.. The garden salad was also great with radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, mixed greens with arugula lettuce. Too bad the menu wasn't larger. Busy place.

Best food, worst service. Takes 5 minutes too long for waitress to notice new tables & the food wait is ridiculous.

We were seated immediately in the lounge/bar area. Our meals came relatively quick being that the restaurant was busy. The food was exceptional. My husband got the daily special, prime rib and I got the chicken alfredo. The prime rib appeared to be cut rather thin but the flavor was there. The veggies and potatoes were a tad sparse. The chicken alfredo was tasty with a thick sauce. The chicken was sliced nicely but there really wasn't enough to complement the pasta. Our server was also tending the bar and was very attentive to our needs and those sitting around us but could have offered the check to us in a more speedy fashion and not stay at the table as we were paying on the electronic handheld device. All in all we enjoyed the meal and ambience. Highly recommend if you want a break from camp food.

The high-vaulted dining room is kind of awkward, like they didn't know what to do with the space, but it's nice enough. We started with the dry ribs, which were great (favourite part of the meal). I had the steak salad, which was tasty. We finished with the cheesecake. Overall, a serviceable and satisfying meal, that was a bit pricey (those tourism prices!) and won't be blowing any minds.

Been to Elkwater before and it's nice to have this gem in the middle of the flat and desolate prairies. Anyway, we've mostly run out of things to do within an hour driving distance (there's a baby in tow) and I was a bit reluctant to go back to Elkwater again. She mentioned Camp Cookhouse and how the chef there won some award or was on TV or something. I'm like, "Yeah, sure," and just shrug my shoulders. So we get there and the menu is simple but full of good things. I get the short ribs, she gets a burger, and her mom gets soup. I'm still not really impressed at this point but the service was very friendly. Well, I get my short ribs, take a bite, and immediately I'm sold! The taste was just so succulent, amazing, and perfect! I have so many other words to describe it! Not one bone present and they were just full of meat and saucy goodness. Friend's burger was also amazing and very well crafted. This was the type of food would be expect to find in a big city, not a rural lakeside restaurant. Seriously, everyone...make your way here and enjoy the food! You will not be disappointed at all. If you are, message me and I want to hear all about it :)

Had the burger and fries one night, burger buns are made in house, and it was very tasty. Ribs the next night, tasty, but I wish they removed the silver skin off the ribs before smoking. Portion sizes are good, pricing is fair, local beers and wines/Mead's to wash it all down. I like everything they are doing here, you can't complain about much when everything is locally sourced and made in house, far too many restaurants don't do this type of thing and it's a shame.

Not sure if I would think this way in more larger towns. It is really nothing to look at. It is not really decorated in any which way and it doesn't scream "Cookhouse". It more screams like my aunt's dining room. When we were there, there was one server and she was AMAZING but run off her feet. Really for the amount of people in the place (during COVID) it was full. She did an awesome job being upbeat, friendly and fast as she could be. We were sure to tip her well. It is a typical bar food menu. My kid and I not being bar food type chose the pad Thai - one with shrimp and one with chicken. My husband had the chicken bacon club and my little one had the kids grilled cheese. It was a while for the food to come, but it was expected because of how busy it was. Food came and it was really good. My kiddo and I were not expecting much for a bar but the pad Thai was really different than what we are used to but equally delicious. It had an amazing peanut sauce and the portion was huge. I couldn't eat it all. I really rate restaurants on how well they do a kids plate, and this one was great. The grilled cheese was on speciality bread and had two kinds of cheese on it. I sneaked a bite and it was delicious. My husband was happy with his sandwich. All in all a good meal.
