As I wrote in my last review, this was one of my favourite places in Medicine Hat... Last night (08/31/22) I went with a group of colleagues and finished super disappointed. The food took forever to come out and when the entrees came, they were not cooked right (the steaks) and the food was cold. (I've ordered a medium and got a medium-rare) We didn't receive any reason about why it took so long at all. It made me feel very uncomfortable because I was the one that suggested to dine here. The steak was tough. There was no black and Cajun on it, which they charge an extra four dollars for. The noodles were pretty much flavourless and bland. The only good part of the meal was the Caesar salad. For the amount of money, they charge you they should put enough effort in to get the order, right. this is the third and final time I will be disappointed by that outfit. Great food, great staff. Not much else you can ask for. Definitely recommend the spinach artichoke dip.

I'm a big fan of the Earl's Restaurant chain in Canada. The space if comfortable and inviting, the wait staff are friendly and attractive, the wine selection is better than average, the cutlery and dishes are unique, and the food combinations are fun and tasty. I always look forward to coming back and at least once or twice I've dragged Gayle and some business collegues along. So far I've been to the ones in Banff, Jasper, Calgary (Barlow Trail and MacLeod Trail), Edmonton (Sherwood Park, West Ed Mall, South Edmonton Commons, and Jasper Avenue), Winnipeg (near the train station), Vancouver (Downtown) and this one in the Hat. More Earl's will be added to my list in the future. I've probably had my best Earl's experience here. The restaurant had recently reopened after a previous fire and the whole new space was really well designed and very inviting. I was also with a few collegues, one of which used his West Virginia charm to make friends with the manager, most of the wait staff, and several other customers. And of course his friends were our friends and for at least 2 straight evenings! And when you're around that kind of positive energy, who wouldn't have a great time and at a place you wanted to be at anyway? read more

Dining room blends into the bar making a huge room. No walls, open kitchen and loud night club music are a little overwhelming. Great service and food is delicious. Seating is very comfortable with a relaxing atmosphere. Their drink menu is fantastic.

Earls has been my favourite place to go for most of my life. Good food, pretty girls, nice atmosphere and depending on the restaurant it's usually a pretty funky place. The last couple years haven't been so great for me, the food and service just haven't been as top notch as they usually are for the price of everything there. Tonight it was pretty busy, we got warned beforehand the food might take a bit longer. However the service just wasn't good, food took forever and some arrived cold, which we sent back. Dynamite rolls didn't come with any soy sauce or chopsticks, stuff like that. Fortunately they waived the bill and gave us a free desert which is actually impressive and appreciated, it was a decent bill. That's why this is getting three stars, something's are unavoidable and sometimes shit happens, but they did their best and you could tell they tried. TLDR: Pricey food, lately has been a hit or miss in regards to food/service. read more

This is likely the best restaurants in town, but more importantly it has the best veggie burger in medicine hat, without exception. Even if I ate meat, I would order this burger. Try it out. read more

We had a party of 10 here. We had great service, the food was also very good. Ribs & Cajun Chicken was great. They also had 1/2 priced bottles of wine on, the whole wine selection at half price, great deal. All in all, we would return. read more

Saturday night at 10:30, right after 5000 people leave the arena and this place is totally deserted. Three people in the bar none in the restaurant. Easy to see why. Service was attrocious and even when we complained could have cared less. So bad I left no tip. The 6 different meals ranged from acceptable for 1 to bad. 5 of 6 diners sent some part of the meal back. At the price they charge I expect way more. The food is usually pretty good and the service is usually pretty good but the one thing that they don't have is change tables in their washrooms. I don't get it. This is a family restaurant weather they like it or not, so why would they not have a change table in the washroom? Where do they expect me to change my baby? It seems like a small thing until you have to change your baby with no change table, and then it really sucks. Both the men's and the women's washroom should have one. read more

had to send my steak back 3 times to get it 85% right,chef could not figure out what medium-rare steak is .when you see blood on your potatoes you should know .the mashed 'pots' where from an instant package,finally the asperagus was raw not even the slightest cooked not steamed.started with clam - chowder soup the base cream had broken it was overly sour the main veggie in it were carrots.would not eat at earls again.plus side the service was a little better then average.this was at the earls in med.hat alberta. read more

Decent food, the soup was an interesting chicken noodle soup using french onion as a base. The wait staff was all done up and dressed to go clubbing, which fits right in with the look of the place. The one strike was that they accidentally gave my friend chicken instead of the shrimp that he ordered for his pasta, but he didn't mind at all. Also, the electricity suddenly cut out, but the staff didn't miss a beat. Overall, I'd like to see this chain expand into the US. read more

I would say there food isn't quite worth the price, it's not BAD by any means, but it's worth a lot less (although the ribs are quite delish) and usually the service is sub par. I guess it's a good place for guys who want some "lady goods" to look at, as the waitresses are not so "professional" looking at times, but I would most likely eat somewhere else. read more

Went to Earls last night. Things went from bad to worse. Had made reservations but no record of it. Drinks were brought and my daughter had a raspberry lime thing. The first time it came it tasted all lime. Comes the second time they put tonic water in it instead of sprite. She had wine after that which by the way was suppose to to 9 oz. but it sure looked like 6. Then we went to order and by brother went to order steak and was told by the waiter that they were out of steak. We thought it was a April fools joke. It wasn't. How does a restaurant in Alberta not have steak. Then I hear this isn't the first time they've run out of steak!!! So then the wait for our food started. Ordered about 6 food didn't show up til after 7. Then of course had the requisite cold pasta dishes that had to be sent back and still came back lukewarm at best. Felt bad for our waiter Curtis as none of this was his fault but he was going to have to tip out the poor service from the kitchen and the unacceptable product given out by the bar. Had to watched as he ran around all over the place but not a manager in sight helping out. To say the least we won't be going back to earls in Medicine Hat and neither should anyone else. The service was good, fast and friendly. I enjoyed the Chicken Penne, even though this meal can be thrown together by any front line cook and garnished with some parsley; it still tasted like a little extra bit of effort went into it. Oh dear! Maybe this was just a bad night, and it was truly not busy (three in total in the dining room!). Our server messed up, serving the main course before the salad, and this after a forty minute wait. Her excuse was the other wait staff "didn't bring out the salad". The soup came without a spoon, and we had to ask twice to get one. Our server did not come back once the main course was served to check on us. She honestly seemed to be distracted and had difficulty remembering a simple request. As for the food, well, just so-so. The caesar salad lacked flavour - if garlic was in there, it's debatable. We were also charged three dollars more for the salad because we wanted to share. Nice sirloin steak, however, cooked to order. Overall, we were not impressed with this Earl's. Service was slow and not up to standard. We have eaten at Earl's in other locations and it's been excellent. This one needs improvement. read more
