We are traveling from Minnesota to Banff, Alberta and stopped overnight in Brooks AB. We saw Wasana Thai on Yelp and cannot recommend it highly enough. This is a small, family owned business and both the food and the service was wonderful. My wife has the veggie Pad Thai and I had the Shrimp Pad Thai. Both dishes were ample and delicious. This is a prime example of why Canada is great. Here is an authentic Thai restaurant in the middle of the plains of Alberta and it's good. The owner is a sweetheart and even though you can't get all the same vegetables as grow in Thailand, it's the best approximation while maintaining the essence of Thai taste. This is a must try if you are in Brooks. We were a group of 11 from Vancouver that was stopping in Brooks overnight after a day at the Dino Provincial Park. We had enough of burgers and fries and wanted something Asian and ethnic. Coming from Vancouver and having the opportunity to taste very good food, Wasana, was comparable to very good Thai food in Vancouver. The restaurant is owned and operated by Kam, his wife and son. Kam is an awesome host and spent time talking to us and making sure we had enough to eat. The wife is from Thailand and cooks truly authentic dishes. We had the Tom Yum soup, Basil Beef, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Green Curry, sweet and sour chicken, bacon fried rice and Papaya Salad. Kam's wife can be found in the kitchen creating some of the most delicious Thai food you will find anywhere. The hot and sour soup is a can't miss dish. A truly outstanding and authentic Thai restaurant tucked away in the quiet prairie town of Brooks. This is not to be missed if you are fond of either Thai cuisine or Thai culture. I love both and never miss a chance to enjoy them here. The food is always excellent and the service is personable and genuinely caring. Just like in Thailand they insist on fresh ingredients. Beware however, if they get to know you and you ask for your food prepared with an authentic amount chiles, you want to be ready for it. This is a treat not to be missed!!!! read more
