My sister recommended Natasha at Alberta Modern, as she had been coloring her hair for a while. I don't color my hair, but was optimistic about having a new set of eyes and hands on my notoriously thick hair. I can truthfully say that Natasha has given me the best haircut of my adult life. I am excited about having found my new stylist! She was friendly, really listened to what I wanted and executed that better than I could have anticipated. The only negative I can think of to post was the street parking situation. But that's Mount Lebanon for you. I will be returning to Alberta Modern!

See, I have super stubborn, super course, carpet hair!! I mean, it's wicked hard to cut. I went in with a disaster cut, and Ashley took time to listen to my issues (of which there were many) and talk through what she was going to do to set me on the path to an *eventual* nice hair style! The cut she gave me was 1,000,000,000,000% better than any I've had in the Burgh. It looks and feels light years better. I only say I THINK she's it for me, because remnants of the "bad" cuts I've suffered are necessarily lingering as my hair grows out o& recovers. But Ashley clearly had hair cutting talents in abundance. She's also just a really pleasant, kind person! The salon is cute, clean, & inviting - very "industrial cool." They don't have the front desk/reception area manned, so it can be difficult to get a human to talk to (book online). I went in in person, because I was *that* desperate! Christina was so nice then. She stopped what she was doing, heard my brief description of my plight as patiently, then said Ashley would be great (I'd seen her good reviews online), especially since she (Christina - who is purportedly good w/ course horse hair, too!) is booked out for weeks. They carry some great hair products, as well, and they appear to be quite environmentally conscious- which I love. There's enough street parking if you're there during the day - esp during the week. If you're having trouble finding a salon, you DEFINITELY should give this place a try. Highly recommend.

Very friendly and personable, but more than that she listened to everything I asked for in regards to my hair cut. I have lived all over the place and have had to find stylists while living abroad, in Texas, in a couple of spots in CA and now in PA. I hate finding a new stylist because you never know what you'll REALLY get. I read a great review about Nina before deciding to give Pure a shot and I am so glad I did. She got my length on point and helped me decide how the cut would work into some of the vintage hair styles I am wanting to try out. I will be back to Nina for color once I am ready for a refresh. Can't wait!
