I was in town for the day and I stopped to get a pedicure and manicure. The manicure I have is the worst manicure I've ever gotten in my entire life. All of my nails are different shapes and the gel that I just got 30 minutes ago it's already chipping. I paid $105 to be miserable and to go back to my own salon to get it fixed. I want a refund. It is very average and overly priced. I would love to speak with an owner about this and how unfriendly the staff was towards me when I expressed that I was not pleased with my nails. I was only in town for the day so I was unable to stay longer to get them fixed and to come back. read more

I went there a month ago because the reviews were raving. Trying to find a new place now that the person u went to moved. I went in for a gel pedicure and chose a spa pedicure. Now the price of the pedicure didn't wasn't an issue (though I thought was a bit pricey) The fact that they charged me $20 just to add a white line for a French. And I should mention that I brought in my own gel color because it's hard to find. Total pedicure was about $90. Which was crazy! I don't my paying for that price if the service added up. The lady that did my feet was not enough and didn't really clean the side of my nails. They didn't feel done and was ready to use a blade in my foot without asking. This nail salon is the best I have ever been to. So much so that I have signed up for a Yelp account solely to write this lengthy review. Manicures and pedicures are the one thing I have continuously spoiled myself with for several years. I routinely have my nails done 1-2 times per month. It was not until moving to Rye, NY that I discovered a spa that made all my other manis and pedis feel like a complete waste of time and money (even the ones that were lower in price). Below is a lengthy description for why Second Floor Nail & Spa is the best, but if you want the short version, the salon is beautiful, the staff is excellent, and their work is the highest quality I have experienced (especially noticeable with the results of my Gel manicures). I highly recommend Second Floor Nail & Spa. 1. The staff - The owner and his staff clearly take pride in what they do. They are friendly, they remember their customers, and they always accommodate you. They have rearranged their schedules to accommodate me and two friends at the last minute for a weekend appointment before a wedding. They allowed me to come in when I called shortly before closing and they just have easily could have said no. They never rush. They always make you feel welcome. They never push any services on you. 2. The salon itself - The salon is beautiful. Like the other poster said, it is on the second floor and lined with windows. It is so nice and open with a great airy feel. The layout is unlike any nail salon I have been to. It has the feel of an actual spa rather than your typical nail salon. In addition, because it only recently opened, I believe summer of 2013, everything is brand new. The massage chairs are excellent. Everything is sanitized. All customers get a reward card, which can be used to accumulate discounts on future services. During my last visit I was told I have $15 to use towards my next visit. Great surprise. They also give every customer a fresh bottle of water. 3. Pedicure - The basic spa pedicure is excellent. They start off with manicuring your feet and soaking them in the water. Once this is complete, they take their time in massaging you. I would say it is at least 10-15 minutes, possibly longer. I do know that it is the longest time spent at any of the 30+ salons I've been to in my lifetime. After the massage they do hot stones. Somewhere in the mix is warm towels that are heated in their towel warmer. The polish is always perfect. When you are drying at the dryer, you get a complimentary neck and back massage as you wait. I was so surprised when they first offered, especially since it was with a pedicure and not a manicure. 4. Gel manicure THE BEST- I have been getting gel manicures for about two years now and this salon does them perfectly. (1) they last the full two weeks, sometimes three (before Second Floor my nails were peeling by week two). (2) When removing your prior gel manicure, they do it properly by soaking a cotton ball and wrapping your fingers in foil. I have been to several salons in Florida and NYC where they have made me soak my entire hand in acetone. I even had my gel polish drilled off at another salon and my nails were breaking by the time I left. Never at Second Floor. (3) They put UV blocking gloves over your hands (I have never seen this at any other salon). (4) You get a full manicure with a massage. Most salons forgo the massage when you get a gel manicure. They essentially do a real shotty version of a manicure, if you'd even call it that (presumably to save time since the gel manicure itself is a long process). At Second Floor they do not cut corners with the gel manicure. My nails are never damaged and the polish looks excellent the full two weeks. read more

Got my nails done here once and the service was excellent, although very expensive. It cost me $80 (not including tip) for a single set of UV gel nails, only one color with no designs. The nails were done well and filed into the dagger shape I requested, but they did start to snap off within 1.5-2 weeks. I would have loved to come back here to keep my gel tips, but it's just too expensive for me. Thank you for the great experience though! read more

Worst "nail salon" I have ever been to. The employees and arrogant owner made me feel very unappreciated and unwelcome and were very pushy with services. The 1st bad experience: Gel manicure. Don't waste your time and $ on gel nails here, mine peeled off completely after a couple of days- a regular manicure as well as a gel manicure I got done elsewhere has lasted longer than a gel manicure done here. 2nd: I was told by the manager (even though there were only 2 other customers there) that I had gotten there "too early". Wow, I've never been told that I've been too early elsewhere. And I thought lateness was bad..... apparently not here. 3rd: The person doing my manicure completely missed painting the sides of my nails because she apparently thought it was my skin. Hmm maybe you should have double checked and payed closer attention instead of rushing. When she realized what she did wrong she still huffed and puffed in my face at having to fix it and rudely discussed it with a coworker as if I did something wrong. The female manager told me that the male manager would fix my manicure, however, he purposely took another customer and with an attitude said that I would have to wait awhile. Maybe it's just me but I thought that common courtesy would be to finish with an existing customer prior to taking a new one. I had no choice except to leave as I did not have extra time to waste like they seem to think (perhaps because of the clientele they're used to). Upon explaining this over the phone, rather than apologizing, the manager rudely accused me of being picky and that it was my fault for not telling the lady sooner about the mistake on my nails (which I did tell her as she was still painting them which is when she gave me attitude). I'M paying for the service, therefore, I am allowed to determine whether or not I'm satisfied, that does not correlate with being 'picky'. I then had to pay extra for a massage that is normally complementary when sitting in a regular chair and drying your nails which the same lady who did my nails rushed doing once again and left me having neck pain meanwhile other customers were given a proper massage in a massage chair. If you don't want to feel unwelcome, unappreciated and deal with accusatory people, do not waste your time coming here thinking that you will relax. I will not return to this poor excuse of a business ever again. I have never been treated so horribly and with such attitude by a business owner and employees and felt so uncomfortable before. The customer is always right and accusing the customer of wrong doing instead of at the very least apologizing is very unprofessional. read more

Aside from not using clean/sanitized nail trimming things, they also cut my nail unevenly so that one end was much lower than the other. My pedicure looked ridiculous. Save your money, go somewhere where you won't get a fungus and your toes actually look nice. read more

I absolutely love this place! The customer service is phenomenal and they will do whatever they can to accommodate you. Try to lemon or green tea spa pedicure. It is a little pricey but worth it. They always take their time and I have never once felt rushed. My pedicures last at least for three weeks. They do wonderful manicures too. I've been going to this nail salon since I opened and I must say, it's my absolute favorite! I love the atmosphere (calming, light, airy, but also with cute/funny chick flicks playing on the TV screens) and the owners are absolutely delightful people! They have worked so hard to build their business and they care deeply about making all of their customers happy. The prices are also incredibly reasonable ($12 manicures, and I think the basic pedicure is in the $25 range, though they do have more expensive options if you're wanting more).
