This is a great place for pizza. They have a meter length pizza which is really good. Highly recommended.

Craft beer and wine bar with outdoor seating? What more could this California girl want??…read more We were walking around Modena when it started to rain. So, we stopped by Mamma Puglia's for a drink to wait it out. They had some outdoor seating under an awning. The staff were nice and the prices were reasonable. And they offered a small selection of snacks, which smelled delish but we weren't hungry at that time. If we had more time in Modena, I would go back.

Admittedly, we came here because of Master of None (seems like we're doing a Master of None Modena…read moretour). I swear I'm not a huge groupy - it was just easier to go to already vetted places. Wines by the glass for €6-10 with a good selection of bubbles, whites, and reds. They also had some Italian traditional cocktails and then some more intriguing stuff like a tequila based negroni. We decided to stick with wines before dinner. - Brut rose: not too sweet - Montepulciano: my favorite - House made beer with sea salt: unique with a hint of salt They brought us complimentary crudités (carrots and pickles), focaccia, and crackers, which was really nice. We also ordered some olives. Everything came in really pretty dishes that reminded me of stuff used for high tea. There's a cute patio outside, and there are small tables inside. Service was patient and friendly. It has a very relaxed vibe, and you just get the sense that other patrons there are all just in a good mood. Also, I love the wall of shelves of wine scattered with some books (I dream of having something like this in my house one day). It was a super cute place for a drink before dinner. I would happily come back.

Wine and Cured Meat before Dinner!…read more I love the casual vibe of Enoteca Tabarro. Here you are welcome by the Owner/Server with a happy smile. He even did a mix platter for us with Prosciutto and Salami (7€). Menu is simple. But I enjoyed how simple it is. Though in Italian only. Grab a seat or just stand by one of the barrels at the front entrance. Open till late.

One night we even popped back in for cocktails and simply enjoyed watching all the groups of locals having such a good time. If you come to Parma you have to have prosciutto and you have to have Parmesan and that is exactly what I did. I ordered a warm panini with a huge amount of prosciutto and melted Parmesan. It was so simple yet so perfect. I accompanied it with a excellent glass of glass of the local sweet 'Malvasia Dolce. This was probably one of the best lunches I had in my entire Italy trip and also one of the cheapest. I finished it off with a tiramisu and an espresso. My favourite part of not only the restaurant but Parma is the lack of tourists. I was the only none Italian in the restaurant and there were practically no tourists in the city. A very welcome change from more touristic areas like Venice and Florence.

This a review for the new location in Puianello, always in the Province of Reggio Emilia…read more The name was a great tradition in Cavriago and now it renews itself in Puianello, a small village between the mostly known Quattro Castella and Albinea on the Crostolo river. Great atmosphere, great local food with its own spin and super nice service. They do host live concerts during the week. Check the website for events just in case you do not want to get in the middle of a concert hall rather than a quite place to drink or eat. I had a great dinner tonite with a good erbazzone (local savory cake based on spinach and cheese) as starter. Then my friend had a very good risotto with pumpkins and salsiccia (pork sausage) and I had a super nice horse tagliata served with cherry tomatoes, onions and abundant rucola. Super nice. Dessert came in with a delicious cannolo filled with superb ricotta cream and a special pears upside down tartatein with nuts and resins ....yummy double yummy! Delicious. The wine list is good and lot of local flavors. My choice, after checking with the very knowledgeable owner who is really a super nice lady, was a very special local Lambrusco whine (bubbly red lighted whine) coming from the nearby Quarticiello farm, Ortigiara Lambrusco, very very good and perfect match to these local flavors. Not too busy on a Sunday evening but I heard is mostly all full over the week and especially Friday and Saturday so give them a ring to reserve your table. Easy and free parking just in front of it. Not pricey at all, very reasonable and definitely great bargain for the quality. My fav in the area for a fast byte or a drink and stay as much as you want to enjoy friends food and company.
