This is my kind of place. What looks small on the outside holds a treasure on the inside. You may…read morehave to know or give them a call, he's in the back. The store is arranged for easy perusal. I found all my favs jazz, soul, vocal female, vocal male and many more. I didn't have much time but I could have looked for hours. I will have to stop back. There were albums for every part of my want lists. Fairly priced with a few bargains. I didn't have time to look through the $2, $5 bins but there were plenty. A great collection of albums for sure.

But cheap doesn't always necessarily mean good - I could always shop for "cheap" at the Walmart bargain bin. What the RG brings to the table is quality records for a price that can't be beat. I was having a conversation about the graveyard with a friend of mine who's really into Jazz; he only has a few places he likes, basically because so few places carry quality Jazz these days. You know how picky those old fans can get. He took me here first. I'm not a Jazz hipster like him, but I do like records - and oh, they have a ton. I snagged quite a bit for very little - some records were as Misi said, literally $1. Even the new releases were inexpensive. I'm accustomed to paying over $20 per record sometimes for that "audiophile grade vinyl" junk. That doesn't seem to happen here unless its rare. So it didn't break the bank. It seems like they have a good rotation of stock going. I can see myself easily coming back at least once a week and not looking at the same old junk over and over again. It's like the thrift shop of records!

We stumbled upon this bar as we were staying next door at the Siren. I wasn't quite sure what the…read morename of the place was, as it wasn't really labeled outside, but it's a bar/record shop. It was super chill when Nate and I visited around 8 pm on a Saturday evening last month, but they were having a DJ later on at 10 pm. The music playing while we were there was at a pleasant level that accommodated conversation, which I appreciated. The bar itself is quite small - it can probably seat 8 people comfortably. The menu is concise, with canned beer, wine by the glass or bottle, cocktails, and some N/A options. I got a Four Roses bourbon + black cherry Vernors, which was really delicious. Nate got a Brew Detroit brown ale that the bartender recommended. The bartender was great, laid back and easy to talk to. I think this place turns into more a party vibe later on at night, but I liked the relaxed atmosphere when we stopped in. Cool little spot!

Very cool music venue and bar in Downtown Detroit. Earlier in the day is usually pretty chill. You…read morecan have a drink, browse through some records and hear some great music. The N/A drinks are just as good as the alcoholic ones, my favorite being imani's sorrel. They have an outdoor space as well if the inside is too packed for your liking. My favorite thing about Paramita is the community building they that constantly do with their events. There are open deck night where anyone can come in and practice djing and drink and draw nights to just chill and draw with a good drink. Love the space and very grateful to have it in the city.

Found Sound has that wonderful mix of just about everything, and their prices are actually more than reasonable. The difference here however is the crew. So many places have staff that vacillate between casual indifference to active dislike. Found Sound has a team that genuinely cares about your experience, and are actually happy to talk to you. I recently was perusing their soundtrack selection and found a copy I of an album I wanted. I noticed what I thought were scratches on one side, and asked the team member about it. He immediately confirmed they were light scratches and marked the price down accordingly. I can't imagine every place would be honest in this way. About the only negative of shopping here are the narrow pathways, but honestly it just means they've got more stuff for you to look at when you're there. I'm so glad I stopped in, you can bet I'll be back!
