We don't have a reservation, but are accommodated in their modest 5-table conservatory with a skylight. The patrons are mostly, if not entirely, Americans. The location: 5 /5 The hotel lobby and bathroom 4 The conservatory 3.5 The service 4 The menu cover 5 The tea 3 The food 3 The cover of the thin menu is charming, far more attractive than the venue and food. They offer two kinds of tea: black and green, which includes mixed. I tried the Herbal Infusion, which is ok, and Jasmin, which is inferior, a mere supermarket issue in the eyes of a Chinese tea drinker. The food, except for the smoked salmon, is slightly below average, feeling old and tired, despite being a fan of scones and shortbread. I hardly touched the £8/$10.69 Kingsdown still water, it's really unnecessary. It's our museum day. Between the army museum and the British Museum, we're hunting for lunch near the latter. The elegant Georgian townhouses, dating back to 1860 in the heart of Bloomsbury, caught my eye. They're next to the British Museum, on the quiet Montague Street. The hotel is part of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection.

Two dry and hard scones (Cafe Concerto even has better scones and pastries), and the pastries were boring. We ended up leaving half of it. The teas were ok. We tried 2 flavors per each. The kitchen kept having problem so we had to wait for over 25 mins to get some sandwiches refill (not that it was tasty but because they gave very little). Absolutely not recommend it. $9 for a water bottle too? It's terrible! What the heck! The servers kept apologizing to us and the table behind about the kitchen. They should have not taken us in or offered some credit for not being able to refill when they said that it was unlimited. But again food was terrible anyway.

The staff was very friendly and gave us some suggestions of places to eat and have coffee while we waited. The comfy room was SNUG but it had all of the amenities I needed. I wish the room had more accessible outlets. There was one on one side of the bed but not the other. We accidentally overloaded the circuit in our bedroom because of it by using a power strip from the single outlet and it shut down all of the power to the outlet and TV. The staff was quick to come up to take a look and fix the issue. They let us borrow their adapter. I did make use of the water provided at the front desk. The lobby seems to be a hang out place for studying and free wifi. There was an instance where sat down in the lobby momentarily just to figure out my destination and the staff immediately poured me some water. It's also close to a grocery store Overall I had a great experience and would recommend to anyone.

It is perhaps too easy for restaurant charges to be charged to rooms, as somebody else charged their breakfast to my room. The staff were able to provide me with a receipt of the charges and I quickly identified that it was not me that made those charges. Thankfully, they dealt with the issue in a reasonable time frame. # Ambiance The ground floor is a bustling area with a cafe and a restaurant. The rooms are nice and cozy, but is a little weird when we can hear other people's doors close. # Food and Drink (Room Service via Rondo) London Fog Posset with Gingerbread Ice Cream This dessert is the best item I ordered from here. The dessert itself is very creamy and tart. The gingerbread ice cream provides a nice medium to mellow out the strong acidity. Neal's Yard Cheeses, House Chutney & Oat Cakes The cheeseboard is alright. Comes with some apple slices too. The house chutney is pretty sweet, kind of jam like. Fish Goujons sandwich The brioche bun might be better than or at least equal to the fish here. Assorted drinks by London Essence London essence comes in last (4/4) in my ranking of ginger beers I had in London.

Here are my notes:…read more * Room Size: Some of the rooms are quite small, but asking for a room at the front of the building is a good hack--those rooms tend to be larger due to the shape of the building. * Breakfast Deal: If you book through certain websites, you'll get complimentary breakfast, which is definitely worth it. The breakfast spread was surprisingly good. * Old but updated: The hotel is definitely on the older side and could use a remodel. While the rooms themselves are updated and comfortable, the hallways have that kind of worn, dated vibe. * IMPORTANT: There's no air-conditioning! I would not stay here in the warmer months. * Location: It's close to the tube and the Elizabeth line, making it super convenient to get around. Plus, you can easily walk to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. Overall, your experience at Travelodge London Central City Road may vary, but it's a decent budget-friendly option.

Hello 1973! The…read morebreakfast here is great, but aside that the rest of the hotel is a bit of a let down. I cant describe how 70s this place is, orange wool bedcovers, orange curtains, dark brown and orange carpets in the corridors etc, it was like being in Life On Mars or Rising Damp or something. We asked for a double, which was 2 single beds pushed together, which split apart and I fell down the middle just as the maid walked in, without knocking, which I found rude. We weren't given a "do not disturb" sign or anything. Anyway, what she walked in on, made her leave quickly, (lol). Also the rooms aren't en-suite, it's one bathroom per 4 rooms, but that's not too much of a hardship. The hotel itself as a whole really isn't too bad. Its good value, and in a decent location, but if they just put some new carpet down, got some new curtains, bedding and furniture, maybe threw in a few double beds or king size beds, or even just a lick of paint here and there, it'd be superb. If I was really lost for choice, I'd stay there again without too much protest. It's fine if you just need somewhere to sleep whilst visiting the capital.

The last night I was there she was so drunk she moved from bed to bed on fresh covers only just changed. Those sheets/duvets cost the hostel money to clean, so I reported her moving around to unassigned racks. Instead of being happy I had their back, the front desk put into the notes on MY name that I was a problem and that I had done that! I did not know it until today when I tried to book a stay this July. The Operations Manager told me he could do nothing to remove the wrongful accusations against me. He could rent a private room but not the more affordable dorm bed. The music in the pub is so loud now, it's like St. Christoper's Inn--it's all party and no comfort now. This place has rapidly descended into to a miserable place to rent a dorm bed.

The hotel is located within walking distance of the tube, Oxford street with Selfridges as well as many restaurants. There is a taxi rank located right outside which was very convenient. The rooms were very comfortable with plentiful amenities like complimentary bottled water, mini fridge, robes and slippers, etc. The bed was so soft and there were a good variety of channels on the television. All staff we interacted with at the hotel were helpful and kind. There was a fire evacuation on one of the days we were there and an announcement came on the loud speaker informing us to leave and staff members guided us to the exit quickly. The buffet breakfast was nice with omelets by request, a variety of hot and cold items (bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, baked beans, pancakes/waffles, fresh fruit and vegetables, juices, cereal, yogurt, pastries). There were servers to clear your plates and provide drinks. We had drinks one evening at the bar and Marco was such an entertaining and efficient bartender. He made our evening memorable and put so much attention into making our cocktails and providing us with information about the signature drinks available. Overall I would stay here again! The location was wonderful and we had a very comfortable stay.

We took the train into the King's Cross station, where you can take the bus or walk over. And there were nights we came back from the Angels station. And finally when we left, we left from Pancras International which was across from King's Cross Station. Upon check in staff was nice, checked if we had food allergies, and gave us their delicious Doubletree cookies. We were given a 1 bed room on the 5th floor, which is their top floor. For my friends in the states, this is equivalent to the 6th floor because in London the first floor is 0 or ground floor. The elevators, or as they call it, the lifts were small in space. It can fit about 4-5 people without luggage or maybe 2-3 people with luggage. I liked that you needed to scan your room card to access the elevators, but I didn't like how our cards kept getting deactivated. Staff told me it can't be near phones or credit cards or it will deactivate. Pretty silly cause the card is card size made for wallets. I have been to many hotels and even many DoubleTrees all over the world, and this was the first time my card deactivated, and multiple times, during my trip. As for the room, it was very tight for 2 people. It would still be tight for one person. There was only one side table. Barely any space for 1 piece of luggage. The bed was hard and the pillow was flat. The TV only had local channels and the guide didn't even display what the channels were. Other hotels I have been to lately all have streaming options these days. There was a mini fridge that wasn't too cold and a blow dryer. The bathroom was so cramped it was hard to maneuver around. Barely any counter space. Good thing I have a hanging toiletries bag to give myself extra space and prevent my belongings from getting wet. Overall, the location is the main selling point about this hotel. Being walkable to nearby main stations is important when travelling.
