As someone who has a repeat prescription I have to use the pharmacy once a month. It normally takes about 20 minutes to obtain my prescription, although years ago I could turn up and get my medication in five minutes. Yesterday I visited the pharmacy and it was empty, so the lady on the desk took my prescription out of the file and passed it over. After 10 minutes the pharmacist took a patient into the small office to discuss his medication and 20 minutes later was still there. I asked one of the pharmacy assistants if it would be OK to return tomorrow to pick up my medication and was hoping for a reply like "Yes Sir that won`t be a problem". Instead she spoke to me as if I was a delinquent schoolkid telling me "You will have to stand in line and wait your turn just like everybody else!" presumably assuming that I would barge everyone in the store out of the way!!
As an ex Chemistry teacher who has seen many of my students go on to have a career in pharmacy, including one who does my annual review, I am not insensitive to the demands of the profession, but I do not see why you should be treated as if they are doing you a favour by eventually doing their jobs and serving you.
In frustration I have signed up to an online Pharmacy service. read more
