It's the first and last venue we looked at; I knew immediately I wanted to marry the love of my life here. The entire staff is top tier; they pay attention to detail and make sure everything is perfect for your big day. The owners are the sweetest and purest people I've met. Marilyn and her daughter-in-law Mary made the process easy as heck for us. Sarah and Lisa were our day of coordinators and they were beyond amazing all day and night. They're all genuine people who love love, as most people do. If I could get married here every year, I would do it in a heartbeat. We're blessed by God to have met the people of Akron Acres who gave us a pinterest perfect wedding day.

Everything I was looking for in fall activities!!…read more I came across this place on Yelp, through suggestions of friends looking for a place to pick pumpkins straight from the patch. It's one of the activities I enjoy doing most in the fall, and have grown disappointed with other farms as the years went by and their popularity skyrocketed. This place is fairly under the radar - a bit of a drive even past the attractions in Clarence, but I've grown to love Akron lately and so I (of course) didn't mind making the journey. In fact, I loved this place so much that I brought my family back here the very next day. Akron Acres is a part of the Kelkenberg farm family. I haven't been to their namesake farm, but if it's anything like Akron Acres I'm sure I would have an absolutely amazing time. Activities here during their fall season included a hayride out to the pumpkin patch, corn maze, and things like pony rides for the kids. The hayride is $12 and you're allowed to pick any pumpkin you want from the patch (even the biggest one you can't carry) - they also had combo ticket prices if you wanted to participate in some of the other activities here. Sadly we went during a wet and rainy weekend, so I had to miss out on the corn maze BUT the farm animals 10000% made up for my FOMO. Oh yes, there are dozens of farm animals roaming about! Most notably, we saw ponies, a large draft horse (not sure what breed they are? but they are HUGE), pigs, sheep, turkeys, chickens, and of course GOATS. There were also BABY GOATS and they were absolutely ADORABLE, one of them tried to eat my clothes. Made my life complete. You can also buy an assortment of other things while you're here, not just tickets for fun activities! They sell pumpkins and gourds if you don't feel like going out to the patch - they also have Indian corn and corn stalks, hay, among other things. There's a food stand that sells kettle corn, maple cotton candy, and candy apples. You can also shop a super cute country store here, with all sorts of goodies - I ended up buying a delicious smelling candle that they were burning in the store while I was there. Needless to say, there's a ton of really fun things to do while you're here, both for kids and adults. It's a bit less well known than some of the other pumpkin places in WNY, which is why I ended up liking it so much. Both days we went, it was pleasantly busy but not overly crowded. There is also "The Gathering Barn," which is where weddings are hosted - and from the pictures I've seen online, it sounds beautiful! All in all, we had such an amazing experience here that we're going to be back in November for their Christmas trees! Can't wait to return!!

You can find them at Farmers' Markets in the city, local art festivals, the Wegmans on Losson Rd. and the one on Alberta, as well as a couple of local shops downtown and on their website (look, a convenient link to their find-a-store map! https://alpinemade.com/alpine-made-locations/ ) My cousin introduced me to their stuff when they were selling at Horsefeathers a few years ago - back before they exploded in popularity (not to be all hipster about it, but I digress). I quickly fell in love with the herbal salve they make. My hands suffer terribly during the wintertime, and all lotions failed to keep me comfortable and moisturized. All I remember is having a grand epiphany as I sampled their salve. My hands weren't dry, aching and cracked up anymore. It was seriously a miracle. I bought a container of the stuff in a heartbeat. Most of my exposure to Alpine Made's products have been at art festivals and markets. If ever I have questions about the products they sell, they always have a knowledgeable representative ready to explain anything I may have to wonder. I've always had great, friendly conversation with the Alpine Made staff, and it makes me all the more excited and eager to buy their soaps! Commercial skin care products have never worked for me, and so I recently bought their Black Coal soap - it's supposed to be good with acne prone skin, and I can't wait to start using it. I've never been out to the farm, but I think it would be cool if they did tours. It's super awesome that they've got the goat yoga sessions running this summer though. I've been thinking about signing up for those even though I've never done yoga in my life. I just want to play with the baby goats!

I've bought her soaps in the past at Buffalo farmers markets and stores. They are great and make a welcome gift. She's offering "goat yoga" now too, which is what got me out here. I wanted to experience the newest yoga craze, even though I'm terrible at yoga. In the same space there are other local artists selling their wares, hand made spoons (using reclaimed wood), pottery, some notecards and perhaps more. All local artists working together to support each other. These types of "cooperatives" are all over the place these days. Supporting the locals is easier than ever. Thanks for helping keep an old church active with a new purpose.

Included in their set-up was a screen room full of big, beautiful monarchs, feasting on their fave milkweed. There was also a small net enclosure on their counter with a big, fat colorful caterpillar inside. Caterpillars are the only bug I wish I could snuggle with--this guy was just TOO CHUBBY AND CUTE! But I digress. :-P The booth was manned by Eastern Monarch's staff (maybe the owners?), who could not have been friendlier and more engaging for our kids. They shared with us interesting info about monarchs, their flight path, what they like to eat, and the importance of propagating monarch-attracting indigenous plants in our area. Our son asked what the "brown dots" were in the caterpillar enclosure, and we also learned that caterpillar poop is called frass. So that was a fun fact for our ten-year old son! :-D For sale were mature and healthy milkweeds that were planted in eco-friendly self-composting containers. It was Father's Day, my dad has a nice garden, these butterfly people were way cool, so I purchased one of the plants for my dad's yard. For $20, it was a solid investment and a little bit of support for this lovely eco-forward local business. When we got the plant home, my dad LOVED it, and can't wait to bring more monarchs to Cheektowaga! :-D If you check out Eastern Monarch Farm's website, you will see that they are very involved in the community, and offer a variety of outreach programs for youth and more. If you are looking for an educational program of this nature, and/or you want to purchase butterfly-attracting plants that support our area's local eco-footprint, you absolutely cannot go wrong with supporting this sweet local business.

My friends and I came here for dinner on a Friday night around 6pm. There are two lines to either order food and everything, or just drinks. The food etc line was about a half hour and all seats were taken while we were in line trying to order. When you ordered food, you also got a free bag of popcorn, which was a good snack waiting for your food. We found a seat after we ordered and enjoyed the musicians. They were playing great tunes. I got my painini about an hour before my other 2 friends got their pizza. It was awkward eating in front of them, but they told me to go ahead and I was starving. The kettle chips the sandwich came with were good and crunchy. The sandwich was good too. The prices were fair. I wish my friends would have gotten their pizza a little sooner. But understand most people were ordering pizza and not sandwiches. They have about 3 pizza ovens, so it takes time.you have to be patient. My friends enjoyed their pizza. Because we went in September, there wasn't an admission charge to get into the property. The charcuterie boards looked great too from what I could see.this was a great experience and I look forward to going back for more magical nights.

I loved the meat lovers with the hot honey but we devoured every last bite of every pizza. I have driven by year after year and thought I really need to check it out . One year (maybe more ? )they were not there for the season and I was saddened , so when I saw them open , I made a point to get there . Upon entering you will see many blow up bounce houses. Sadly, the big tiger you can see from the road is "retired" but , man he is cool ! There is also a little track for kids to be able to drive kid cars around . I would say this is great for probably the 4-5 year olds , but flexible. There are many tables set up for "pumpkin tic tac toe" . I thought it was an adorable idea. There are food huts/vendors set up with the typical carnival offerings of kettle corn, cotton candy , soft pretzels etc. What I found fun , is that there is a whole second area that you have to walk a short way through a corn maze to get to . I had no idea it existed ! Here is where you will find some more great bounce attractions and game areas , blow up slides and even a kids zipline attraction . So much fun. My 2 1/2 yr old grandson had such a great time . I recommend this for the little ones , especially 2-6ish years old . You will have a great time watching them have a great time . Lastly , we paid I believe $12 for an armband(did not have to pay for adult bands) which allowed for all day access to all of the bounce houses, we also were able to get a mini pumpkin included in that price . It was well worth the price ! I believe you can purchase individual tickets , but much more cost effective to get the all day bracelet. Pack up your kids, or your grandkids , or even your friends kids , and go ! :)

Just a few notes on the Corn MAiZE - The MAiZE is segmented into three sections - Easy, Medium, and Hard. Be forewarned, I was stuck in the Medium section for 45 minutes. - Vendors: Kettle Corn and Beverages are available for purchase - There's a large MAP of the MAiZE posted at each entry. If you're inclined to cheat, do so willingly. - "Corn Cops" are strategically located within each MAiZE. If getting becomes boring, simply ask a Corn Cop for directions on how to get out! - WEAR BOOTS! The Corn Field is known to get extremely muddy. Sadly, my white Pumas did NOT survive the evening. - Time spent finding your way out of the 3 MAiZEs can vary between 30 minutes to never! - If you're afraid of the dark, the MAiZE is NOT for you. - The last MAiZE is the most difficult. My party and I simply gave up when we exited at the entrance. Simply put, the MAiZE is a great time to be had with a bunch of friends. Nothing beats getting lost in a Corn Field with 6 of your closest friends on an Autumn evening.

The kids liked the kangaroos the best, the adults liked holding the baby kangaroos, but all of the animals were cool. All the staff were friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. From there we hopped on the wagon (dress warm!) to go get a Christmas tree. For $68, they have 3 types of trees to choose from - Douglas, Frazier & concord (?) and a discount tree area. Saws are available on the tractor/wagon or bring your own. I recommend bringing something to kneel on, but not essential. The ground is rocky, with stumps, so watch your step too. We found a nice tree - saw worked great - easy to load on the cart and staff got it on the back of the tractor. Back at the farm, staff took all the trees over to the bailer (see video) and we went inside to pay. Inside the gift shop there are snacks, fudge, and donuts plus stuffies, ornaments, and other knickknacks. We paid for the tree, picked it up outside, and loaded the tree on the car (bring cords, etc) and ate donuts on the way home. Everyone had a great time and we will probably come back next year!
