I have such deep roots in this family, as I went to Sunday school & played the church bells for Nancy Merle!!! I remember touring her chicken & maple farm as a young girl, enamored in the buisness!! Years later (I'm 32 now), and I went with my mother, to tour the ORIGINAL maple house that Florence Merle & her children used to call home! It's since been turned into ONE of the MANY maple factories that are thriving in the maple business in 2025. This review is for their maple weekend events. My husband and I decided to stop by here during the event and had a really great time learning about maple farming in general, and also the specifics of this farm. The people here really know what they are doing, they had a really efficient system to allow people to experience the cool things they are doing. They have a tour guide waiting for you as you enter explaining some of the details of the farm and answering questions. This tour guide moves with you through a series of different "spots" through their maple house to show you everything from how a tree is tapped, to how its collected, to the different products they make. It was an interactive tour, enjoyable to people of all ages. The best part was the samples at the end of the tour, and grandma merle who is 100 years old and still serving guests! They had all sorts of samples from maple cotton candy, to maple popcorn, to different maple spreads (which were DELICIOUS by the way!) to maple syrups, to maple milkshakes (may have been my favorite). They also make fresh warm bread that they slice and spread with maple spread that you can buy for a very reasonable price, $1 or $2. We also took advantage of the wagon ride out through their property to show you the tree taps in action, explain a little of what they do and how they do it, and show some of the history including the original maple house. They also sell a wide variety of other products for lunch or a snack including maple chili, maple pulled pork, maple hot dogs and lots more. We didn't realize how much food there was so we didn't come hungry enough to enjoy too much but it all looked and smelled delicious. It was also interesting to learn that Merle supplies Wegman's with its pure maple syrup, they have won a contest each of the last 6 years to do so. My family and I experienced our first Maple syrup weekend. We heard a few good things about Merle Maple Farm so we decided to give it a try. Merle Maple Farm is a family owned farm that had been around for over 60 years. They are proud of there pure maple syrup that is sold online, at there retail store and at Wegmans. ( under the Wegmans label) We first joined a tour where our guide told us how they tap the Maple trees and the process of how they made the maple syrup. The tour ends in the back of the Merle's Maple store. The first thing you have to do, is say hi to Grandma Merle who is over a hundred years old and still working at the store and greeting customers everyday. They had a table for kids to draw on paper maple leaves and post them on the board and try their maple samples. We especially liked their Cinnamon Maple spread. I was personally addicted to it and I put it on my must buy list. They made fresh bread hot out of the oven to put your maple syrup spread on. Yum!! They also had other samples such as: Maple BBQ sauce, Maple Hot sauce. Different varieties and flavors of syrups and maple cotton candy. For a small fee you can eat lunch at Merles and eat by a small wooden stove. They also offered hay rides to check out the farm and learn the history of Merle's farm. read more
