No sense going to the big box furniture stores when you can buy your furniture from a local company that takes the time to listen and customize furniture to your taste and needs. Every time I asked if I could change a style, knob or finish the response is always " we can do whatever you want". The hand made "high quality" furniture is made locally and I can tell you it's the long term quality of there craftsmanship that brought me back to buy here again. Well worth the $ and if you are looking for furniture that will last your lifetime and for future generations than you've come to the right place.

It is a bunch of smoke and mirrors. I have purchased over $10,000 of furniture from Pompanoosuc. every piece was either missing key parts, which were standard items listed in their catalog, on their web site and as shown on display in their showroom. They had to repair every piece in some way, including a piece purchased two years ago where the drawers started banging into each other , because the hardware( sliders) are so cheap and the craftsmanship is poor. The delivery men pointed out to us that they could not understand why the individual pieces were so poorly made. That they had been with the company for years and encouraged us to send them back and speak with headquarters . The delivery schedule on three occasions over the past two months has been schizophrenic and rude, not even equal to bad cable company scheduling. They only deliver on Saturdays in our area, which is fine. But, I work every other weekend, so we try to be considerate of time when there is a free weekend . Pompanoosuc scheduled between 1-4p. They called at 2:30, stated they would be late arriving at 5p. At 5p, they called stated that even though they were only 15 minutes away, they were heading north an hour away for another delivery and would arrive at 9P. At 9p they called stated that they had exceeded the allotted number of hours to drive in a day and that the delivery would have to be rescheduled. This morning I received a call from Daniel with a British accent from Pompanoosuc Headquarters to reschedule for next Saturday between 12-3p. Not a word about the aforementioned . This is the third such similar experience. Having moved and delivered furniture as a full time job for 5 years, I have awareness of scheduling conflicts, delivery times and customer satisfaction. Anyone can have bad day. There are always opportunities for improvement and certainly a need for service recovery, particularly when things don't work out on multiple occasions. I am not in a position to advise Pompanoosuc how to run their business or to scrutinize their leadership in a meaningful way. However, I am in a position to let others know, that their furniture is poorly made, not worth the money or time to order it or have it their homes. Lastly, that the store manager in Concord NH deserves an A grade for Arrogance. Lastly, my experience maybe an N = 1 with no statistical significance. But, I am a monkey's uncle if our experience is a complete outlier. My bet, is that Pompanoosuc has some real internal issues on several levels. There is a lot of quality furniture and competition out there. I am grateful and recognize how fortunate we are to be able to consider and purchase furniture and try to remain grounded, rather than drifting into the realm of an entitled consumer. From my point of view, Pompanoosuc has or is in a position of entitlement and disrespect and a shameful representation , at least currently, of a local Vermont Furniture company. Maybe once was a different organization or they simply cant create and deliver consistently.

Unfortunate experience here. This was my/our favorite store after recently moving to the area…read morefollowing military retirement. The prices are higher than we like, so we purchased on various dates as we could, and spent a considerable amount to help furnish our home as military movers had lost or broken many of our goods. I purchased curtains, and returned some as they didn't match our decor. Always ironed them and neatly re-packaged them before returning. We thought we were great customers, and enjoyed looking through the store. Just before Christmas (December 19th), my husband and I went in to return two curtains, purchase different ones, along with a few other items, and ordered two bear lamps we really liked. A bit expensive, but we really liked them. Upon return from visiting family for Christmas, we had a letter from "The Jelly Cupboard", and at first, thought it was a Christmas card. We were stunned to open it and find a typed letter from "Joanne Harris, owner" stating we owed $22.00, and needed to pay this before we could have the lamps when they came in. This was no error of ours, but an error on the owner for calculating the return wrong. She credited us for the wrong curtains, but we didn't know that as we were not sure which prices were for which curtains. It was her error, not ours, so sending a letter stating we owed $22.00 was odd to us after the transaction was done. We had received a military discount in the past when there, but did not get a discount on this larger purchase so the $22.00 would have been less than the 10% discount we had received in the past. We went back to the store and returned most items we purchased and cancelled the lamp orders given we felt uncomfortable with the letter we received. While returning the curtains, I was stunned, once again, to learn that the woman who we thought was a sweet part time worker there with little say in prices or products was actually the owner who was now being rude. We felt deceived by this behavior. She became defensive and rather "mean" when I relayed that was the worst letter we had ever received from a store. She rudely asked where the packaging was for the curtains I was returning, and I had to remind her that she took the curtains off the front window and they never were given to us with packaging. She rudely stated we OWED her $22.00. I relayed that it was her error, and if we owed $22.00 for a mistake she made we would pay for it, but coming at us AFTER the transaction was done incorrectly on her part is rather odd and not right. We were stunned by the change in demeanor and behavior. This is no way to treat good customers who frequent there. We were hoping to purchase a couch from there, and other items as well as we could, but now, we will never go back there given how we were treated. We are disappointed in the series of events here. There are other Amish/country style stores in the area where we have never been treated like this so those stores will be where we go now. We had hoped to look around at the furniture store here as well, but it seems to all be owned by the "Harris" family, and, unfortunately, we don't want to experience something like this again.
