I can't say enough good things about HQ4! The facility, coaches, and travel teams have all exceeded…read moreour expectations. We first came to HQ4 for private lessons with Coach Deja. If your child has dreams of playing college softball, quality instruction is invaluable, and Coach Deja is outstanding. She immediately made my daughter feel comfortable while challenging her to improve. We've also had lessons with Coach Chet and Coach Max, and my daughter has loved working with all of them. This spring was our first season on an HQ4 travel team, and it was a fantastic experience. Coach Deja and Coach Max made an incredible coaching team. We watched our girls improve with every tournament, both individually and as a team. They struck the perfect balance of holding the players accountable while encouraging and building their confidence--exactly what teenage athletes need. We're so grateful to be part of the HQ4 family and highly recommend them to any player looking to grow both on and off the field.

Coach Chet has also helped build my daughter's confidence at the plate. He has the innate ability to notice the smallest tweaks and help her understand her swing. He always takes the time to explain things so that she knows what adjustments she needs to make or what to look for if she's struggling at the plate. My son has also taken various hitting and pitching lessons with Coach Caleb. Each time, Coach Caleb takes the time to explain the "why" so that my son can understand the correct way to approach his swing and pitching motion. It's so much more than professional instruction; it's passionate people who love the game pouring into these kids, developing their skills, and helping them understand the game and learn what it means to trust the process. HQ4 is more than just a business; it's like being part of a family.

To find anything close to this you'd have to travel to Charlotte or farther. Even batting cage facilities like this in Charlotte don't have a golf simulator, Pickle ball, fitness classes, basketball, HITTRAX and an indoor soccer area all in one spot! Not to mention they have a lounge area with a big TV to keep you entertained while your waiting on your son or daughter to get in the reps they need. You can rent out time slots for various training areas, or even schedule to have your team use the facility. We showed up a half hour before they closed and the parking lot was packed with cars. I thought there was no way anyone would be there on a late Wednesday night, boy was I wrong! They currently have some weekend events of small group training with local professionals for Softball/Baseball. Friday nights they have 'Fun Nights' for the youth to come have pizza and watch a movie or enjoy the various parts of the facility while the parents hang out or they can go out for a dinner date for a couple hours. (Imagine that, a date with your wife!) Forget Chucky Cheese, you can even rent out the facility for a birthday party! I was able to chat with owners for a little bit and they are awesome locals who just had a dream to do this and the opportunity presented itself. I'm excited to see what happens in the future for them and I'm glad we have such a great resource for the youth and college players locally to use. I hope they continue to grow and someday even offer equipment sales, even if its a small selection of accessories such as bat grip, gloves, etc. that would be great! Well why are you still reading?... Go get your bat and glove (or clubs if your into that) and go!

A great facility to get some practice in! Someone is trying to talk me into joining a softball…read moreleague, so I felt the need to see if I even remember how to swing a bat anymore. Enter the Greensboro Batting Center, a one stop shop for all things baseball and softball. They have token-based batting cages for all speeds in baseball and softball form, traditional batting cages where someone pitches to you or you use a machine rented by the hour, as well as indoor turf fields for fielding practice and all sorts of uses. There is even a full fitness center and weight room! For me, I just wanted to hit some balls, so I bought some tokens at the front for a very reasonable charge, selected a loaner bat, and took to the cages. I started with slow softball, but worked my way up through the speeds all the way up to average baseball, which I think was about 50-60mph. I did a lot better than I thought, though people standing nearby surely got plenty of breeze. You get 20 pitches per token if I counted correct, and most pitches were properly over the plate. Enough variance that you'll need to adjust, but none ever came close to hitting me. Plenty of fans for cooling off, and vending is available if you need a drink. It looks like some local travel clubs use the facility, and possibly some schools. Anyhow, a really great facility, and i'll be back!
