We found this place because I was looking for somewhere I could get a beer and walk out and around the town of Jim Thorpe (I believe they allow it here). But ended up staying for the vibes and plus we were super hungry. I wish I remembered our waitresses name but I believe she had pink in her hair. She allowed me and my girlfriend to sample some beers that she thought we would like because we were hesitant and what to order. We got the sangria sour beer and the white ale which were perfect for us. We also saw online that everyone loved the smash burger so we had to try it. We added truffle fries for 3 dollars which was so worth it. Some of the best fries we have ever had. Also I think we decided it was the best smash burger we have ever had. We both have never tried bacon jam and we were a bit hesitant about the pimento cheese as well. I think my favorite moment from this trip was sitting at the bar here and eating this meal. Plus the burger lived up to the hype. Thank you to the waitress we had you made our day!

We visit Jim Thorpe annually and were excited to try this place given its vegan options. When we entered the restaurant, the set-up was a little confusing. They did seat us pretty quickly though, and the service was probably the only positive to this experience. My husband and I both ordered cocktails; he had the Manhattan while I had a special vodka drink they were offering that day. Our drinks were overall fine but not anything special. My husband's Manhattan was very basic tasting. The menu and the food were the worst parts. The menu is unnecessarily long and phony sounding, like they are trying to be quirky but just come across as fake and condescending. There's extra, unnecessary description of the food that makes the menu difficult and frankly annoying to review. We ordered the bread teaser as well as the hummus. The pesto and the hummus were basic store level quality. The bread was definitely undercooked. For our entrees, we ordered the Cleopatra salad and a pasta dish. The salad tasted fine enough but it was basically just romaine lettuce with a very light dusting of nutritional yeast, vegan cheese, and a very low amount of chickpeas/protein. The pasta was an absolute travesty. It was extremely oily, flavorless, and bland. To top it all off, the food is extremely expensive! They have absolutely no business charging that much. The interior of the place is also a waste of space. It doesn't make any sense that it calls itself a pub. There's also stupid decor everywhere, including a sign that says "no" leading out to an employee-only location. I guess that's supposed to be funny but just comes across as condescending. It's a shame that this place has such a good location with Jim Thorpe and apparently can make a pretty penny serving subpar food and weird vibes. Don't waste your money.

We sensed that it used to be a bistro bar that turned to a spot with option for real food. There was a line when we walked . We were on right timing to get seats . The food served to us did not disappoint. We enjoyed each one's choices. Sashimi, bento box, sushi, hibachi meats, noodles and rice were tasty. There are work of arts spread throughout the restaurant that were eye catching. Local artists inspirational works has high pricing tag. It's a plus for visiting and dining in here.

I ordered shrimp and scallop hibachi and it was incredibly oily and greasy, and the portion of shrimp and scallops was tiny. My friend also got hibachi and felt the same way. My salad was watery, and the clear mushroom soup tasted very strange. I couldn't take more than a bite of either the soup or the salad. For my entree, asked the server if I could please have extra vegetables instead of noodles, and she said that there was a "language barrier" in the kitchen, so she didn't want to ask that. I thought that was an odd comment for her to make. My daughter ordered some sushi rolls and liked them, and my husband and our friend also liked their sushi; so maybe sushi is a better choice here. The place is small and to echo other reviewers, tables are very crammed together and you will bump in to other people just by moving around. The place is cool looking on the inside and outside, definitely an interesting vibe, and they have a full bar. We did have to ask multiple times about the status of our beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). My drink was not good, it was a sake/lemon drop hybrid type of thing and it was insanely sweet - I couldn't finish it.

The murder mystery itself was the highlight, the storyline was engaging, and the actors were clearly well-trained in improv and very kind. Murder Mystery: 8/10 The room was fairly standard, what you'd expect in an old-timey house. No TV or modern extras, but there were plenty of charging outlets, which was appreciated. Room: 7/10 The food during the stay was incredibly disappointing. Most of it felt like reheated microwave meals. Breakfast included eggs, bacon (very thin, broken pieces), cubed potatoes that were oddly watery, ham slices, stale danishes, cereal cups, and a parfait option that had run out by our 9am time slot. Dinner was similar in quality. I chose the cheese ravioli, but despite being second in line, it was cold. The same watery potatoes from breakfast were served again, along with green beans. The only highlight was the coffee, which was good. Food: 2/10 Unfortunately, the parking situation is very poor. There are only 5-6 spots directly outside and a few more up the hill behind the carriage house. I was dropped off at check-in and informed staff that my boyfriend would be arriving late. I was assured there would be parking available and that staff would be present 24/7 to assist him. However, I woke up to a call from him saying he couldn't find parking. I went downstairs to get help, but no staff could be found. Not wanting to disturb other guests, I eventually gave up, and he had to park on the street in the neighborhood on top of the hill overnight. At breakfast, we were briefly told about additional parking behind the carriage house, but there was no apology or acknowledgment of the issue from the night before, nor any attempt to make it right. Parking: 1/10 The staff overall seemed inexperienced and, at times, unprofessional. While I empathize with younger staff members, there were several uncomfortable moments--such as hearing an employee joke about "killing" another staff member over a small mistake, and staff walking away mid-conversation while we were trying to ask follow-up questions. Staff: 4/10 Overall, there were some enjoyable elements, especially the murder mystery, but the experience didn't quite match the price point. With a few key improvements, this could be a much more worthwhile stay.

Just in time for Halloween!…read more Perched atop Packer Hill in the village of Jim Thorpe, this place was used as the model for the Haunted Mansion at Disney, whose interior is anything but spooky. After our tour at Asa Packer, he later built his son Harry a mansion next door as a wedding present in 1874. The mansion's impressive facade could have been taken from a Gothic novel, so much so that the building's design caught the eye of Disney Imagineers where my partner, his aunt, and I came to take some photos last Saturday. The Harry Packer Mansion Inn is open for lodging, tours on weekends, drinks at Libations Lounge, and, of course, murder mystery. Fifteen-foot ceilings, marble fireplaces, and gilded mirrors reflect the elegance of the Victorian Age. If you are in the area, it's a photo op.
