I needed a belt fixed, and a basic oil change so of course I called in an appointment. Oil change was a breeze, but of course the good old belt on my foreign mobile gave Geoff a run for his time. But of course, he got it done and my Bluebell is all fixed up right! Geoff was even kind and offered to put on my new wiper blades he saw that I had in my car and of course in true expensive mini fashion, the standard blades I bought do not work. He checked and did have the part available, more importantly he was willing to stay past his regular closing time and fix it! He then arranged to tow the car from the parking lot where it was stuck, to his garage, so I remained at home. When it was ready he thoroughly went over what was wrong and how it was repaired. He charged me for actual hours of labor, not according to the fake scale that dealers use. He also insisted my daughter call him on his cell phone when she arrived safely for some further checks. This was over a month ago and the car has been fine. The only reason I didn't give him 5 stars ( would give him 4.5 stars but don't see how to add the half star) is because I was charged for the tow and was not told the cost ahead of time. He did say my insurance company would most likely reimburse me, which they did. Also his estimate for the work was slightly higher than quoted, but he did say it was an estimate. I would return to him for other work, and was glad to find him. Lately there has been a lot in the news about mechanics ripping off women and treating us poorly, this is absolutely NOT the case here! 1/5 **Disappointing…read moreexperience -- be very careful about diagnostic charges.** I brought my Lexus to Bucks County Auto Care after speaking with the shop about having them look at a coolant leak and check-engine light and provide an estimate. I dropped the vehicle off using their after-hours key drop, explaining the issues I was experiencing. The following day, I received a repair estimate of approximately $4,380. Given the substantial cost, I decided to seek a second opinion. That was when I was informed I owed $202.50 for diagnostic/pressure testing that had already been performed. My concern is that I was never informed in advance that there would be a diagnostic fee, never quoted a price for that testing, and never asked to authorize the charge before the work was performed. When I questioned the charge, I was told the testing was necessary and that I was already being given a break on the cost. Despite explaining that I had not agreed to the charge, the shop refused to waive it and told me my vehicle would not be released until I paid. I ultimately paid the $202.50 to retrieve my vehicle. I have no objection to paying for services that are clearly explained and authorized beforehand. What I object to is being presented with an unexpected charge after the work has already been performed, without having had the opportunity to approve or decline it. I believe customers deserve transparency about diagnostic fees before any work is performed. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop and would not return.
