They took a nightmare of a situation and went above and beyond to make it a dream. From the very beginning, Megan and Rachel took on the project with confidence, humor, and professionalism. While Megan and Rachel are wizards at design and listening to client's personal styles, it is important to note that their services go beyond simple aesthetics. They were incredibly involved with the physical design of the space, which included frequent communication with our construction company and subcontractors, ensuring that everything was accomplished according to the plan. This included but was not limited to: designing lighting plans; meticulously designing and measuring cabinetry, and then working with the cabinet maker and subs to ensure a correct fit; swooping in to fix address all the issues, from fixture placements to counter heights to wall lengths. Their attention to detail along the way was truly astounding and their knowledge of home workmanship is unmatched. There was never a problem they couldn't fix or an issue that they couldn't untangle. I know without a doubt that our project would not be as amazing as it is without them. Fox and Fern is an amazing team and I cannot wait until I have another project so I can work with them again. They are the absolute best and would highly recommend their services.

She listened to my ideas and gave me great feedback as well as worked within my budget. She and her team were able to coordinate with our builder and even came up with some changes to the plans that worked even better. Allsion has a great sense of style and color. She managed to turn our home into a cozy and elegant space that reflected the style I requested. She chose the furniture, accessories, appliances, lighting, rugs, knobs, bathroom accessories and other items that matched the theme and mood I wanted. She also added some personal touches, such as a framed print I loved and photos of my husband and me. I would highly recommend Allison to anyone looking for an interior designer. She is talented, reliable, and easy to work and did I mention a dynamite personality. She has a portfolio of her previous work on her website, where you can also find her contact information. Allison and her team made it very easy to envision, plan, and execute our design. Allison and her team were very communicative and easy to work with, finding times that fit with our busy schedule, and keeping us up to date on all the logistics that we needed to know about while behind the scenes doing all the tedious things we can't manage ourselves. They found us amazing furniture but also came in and used our existing extensive art collection to make our house a stunning show piece that I keep walking through, feeling like I'm on a design show. We love bold, rich colors and bohemian accents, and lots of them, so it can easily feel cluttered, but Allison and the team helped us find a way to showcase our pieces and still feel clean and homey. Bonus points: they came in and installed the furniture while we were away on a vacation, so we came home to a magazine-perfect home, and it was so exciting! I couldn't be happier!

I was desperate for paint color advice for my recently purchased condo, so I hired Tara after…read morefinding her name on various websites with somewhat favorable reviews. I was going to take the high road and say nothing at first. But I can not, in good conscience, at least try to warn others who are considering this company to take a closer look. The billings were general with no detail to speak of, and details had to be asked for repeatedly. It appeared that bills were haphazardly put together with hours spent at $125 an hour totally unauthorized. When Tara got materials, she said she usually did not give customers receipts and just added the amounts to her bill. She also mentioned that some of her clients just give her a retainer (sum large enough to work freely her own way as much as she deemed needed), and I declined this idea. It was like pulling teeth trying to get receipts, and I never did get the $1,400+ receipts for the paint. I paid the other contractors, including painters, at my request so I could keep a file. Tara did pick up the tile for backsplash and charged me for it, and provided an emailed receipt. But this is what is troubling to me...I found out from tile installers when they were finished, there were several boxes of tile leftover/not needed. I waited for Tara to tell me about the 2 to 300 dollars in tile credit she received. There was nothing said about it over time, so I finally brought it up because it was apparent she was not going to tell me. I think she was surprised, and she said she would credit my bill. We went back and forth about her charging me for commuting from her home in Sherwood to Troutdale. We agreed at the beginning that she would not bill for this time, but it was not always clear at times if she did. I felt extremely pressured by her to pick woven blinds for one bedroom even though I told her I did not like them and wanted wood blinds throughout. I ended up changing to wood after our relationship ended and paid an additional fee. If you are going to work with this designer, I recommend a written agreement ahead of time as to how you both will operate project wise, billing wise, and everything. I worked incredibly hard running all over the entire east, central and west sides searching for the right tile, paint colors, lights, even blinds, and I used my chosen company, but she helped with shades. I was surprised at the lack of samples and contacts Tara had access to. Watch out for a designer who tries to sell you leftover products from previous projects with no boxes and receipts. With recommended websites and one sample, I picked wallpaper. I paid for this and took care of the installer directly. I know that this designer will think differently, that she was worth more. My main purpose here is to make sure to get all details as to how you are going to each have a role in projects that you engage LynWood Designs to assist you with--in writing, upfront. I would not recommend allowing free rein with a big retainer amount upfront with this company. This was my first experience working with a designer, and I will likely avoid it in the future because of this experience.

She has been extremely patient with my decision making - always finding options that I feel comfortable with. (It's scary when you are a first time buyer- and realize how much it really is to furnish a home). We started off having a bunch of pre calls- where she got the vibe of me and my girlfriend's taste. And let me tell you .... It's not an easy feat when my style is PNW/ midcentury modern and my gf is English country side/ northeast . But we are SOOOOOOO happy. She sent us a doc of exactly what we were looking for- and even did it in phases. Little by little .... Am I right ? My favorite part- she always helps schedule and makes the delivery process up so smooth, I never have to worry about it. She is so responsive and on it. Thank you so much Julia- for making this semi - stressful task .... Fun!

The rental company decided the interior needed a major update, and took it off the market pending updates. I hired an interior design company to select some refinishes, which we did. She skillfully moved and re-arranged the family's existing furnishings, artwork, ceramics, photos, and textiles to improve flow, warm up the space, add texture and layering. I couldn't believe the difference, and I didn't have to spend the trust's money on new furnishings and decorations. A huge win! Thanks, Tamara!

She was dismissive of our thoughts/preferences and responded defensively when we asked for other options throughout the entire process. I didn't want to break our contract, since we'd paid her design fee upfront. At the end of our project, she sent us a final invoice showing she had gone 15-20% over budget, without our approval. However, we assumed that Stephanie would provide us with an overview of the process with timelines and what to expect in order to work with our move-in goals. She never provided any sense of targets or timelines, which left us unsure how things worked, when we were supposed to reach out to her, and when we should expect to receive mock ups of designs/options. There was overall really poor communication and we tried to address this. Eventually, at some point, she decided that we were not a good fit as client and designer and even mentioned she had a feeling this would not work the moment she stepped into our home originally. In that case, we wish she would have told us that earlier instead of bringing us on somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster. We later got some very harsh and cold emails from Kami accusing us of sending bad checks, when in reality, our materials had gotten mixed up as we were moving, and would have been able to rectify things if they had communicated properly with us when we first sent over the payments. Honestly, just looking at the way she responds to comments on Yelp (in addition to her communication over email) shows how she lacks professionalism and basic empathy. Perhaps, we just had a bad experience, but I'm honestly not sure if this is a super friendly business for people of color, particularly with a desire to integrate some of their cultural elements into the design, or for people new to the interior design process.
