The small town farmer's market atmosphere is awesome. The service was very friendly without being the least bit pushy, and the man behind the counter was highly knowledgeable about the things I was interested in (in this case, extremely hot peppers and salsas).
The produce looked to be of excellent quality; however, the boxed and packaged stuff that you can buy in any grocery store was very expensive (it is a farmer's market and these people are trying to make a living) and looked old. I would highly recommend the produce over any other store in the area, but I'd keep a wary eye out for the pop-tarts.
The sauces, pickled and candied veggies and salsas that they make and can themselves are absolutely fantastic. I bought the ghost chili salsa and the hot chow chow today. The salsa has some nice heat to it but also has an amazing flavor, too. Bear in mind that when I say nice heat, it is probably way hotter than most people like.
All in all, this is a great place for fresh produce and the canned things. The only thing that kept it from getting 5 stars is the stuff they didn't make or buy fresh. Those pop-tarts.... I highly recommend it. read more
