The decision made by Melissa, the director, feels cold and calculated. For her to dismiss such an impactful caregiver and then deflect responsibility as if it wasn't her call is beyond unacceptable. Let's be honest--this is a daycare, not a corporation. These are real children with real emotional needs, and parents who deserve transparency and honesty. Ms. Candice showed up for these kids every single day, even when she had personal things going on--because she cared. You don't just replace that kind of heart. Otis is learning so much his ABCs, fun learning songs, and even sign language! It's been such a joy watching him grow and gain confidence in this environment. What really stands out to me is how every teacher knows him. They talk to him, greet him in the hallways, and communicate with him as they pass by. It makes you feel like your child is genuinely known and valued, not just watched. I also love seeing how the older kids know him too hearing them call out his name is the sweetest thing and shows what a connected, loving environment this daycare has. The other school "seemed" more modern & had fancy video system (which was good when our daughter was little and couldn't verbally tell us about her day), but truly what i learned was a video doesn't stop a mean/scary teacher in action and you cant rewind. However, the children spot provides lots of picture it didn't have a camera to watch the children at home-- but you're welcomed to come & watch from their office if you ever want to come in (which i never needed to because the disposition of my child was better now) . My child is MUCH happier here & learning more here at the children spot. She does hands on activities, tracing & projects (besides coloring all day long as she seemingly did in the other school). This place does not use worksheets at nor are they practicing writing their names or anything else. They are not practicing holding pencils or writing ANYTHING!!! In three weeks of attendance, she brought home ONE picture she had drawn- ONE!!!. Granted, she missed a couple days during her time enrolled here, I refuse to believe they were actually doing any kind of schoolwork on those days my child happened to not be there. I thought I'd be able to rely on this school, however it is hardly a school; it's a kiddy jail with a pre k teacher that doesn't have patience and screaming is the only way she can try to keep control of the classroom. I may lose patience with my little one at home from time to time, however I will not PAY someone else to do it on a daily basis. I confronted the teacher about this on my daughter's second day, repeating to her what my daughter had told me. She admitted " Yes, I do scream, I do get loud with them, but I always apologize though." Excuse me!!! WHYYY are you screaming at 4 & 5 year olds!?!?! Mind blowing!!!
