Visit date 11/9/2019- it's a small place. The service was really great! The waiter explained the menu to us and let us know what was the top/ most popular items on the menu. They have a couple of TV's. I think they play movies on them. I forgot to take a photos of my food. But my sushi was REALLY GOOD!! I did not even eat it all.

    Not teriyaki steak
    Mailee L.

I called in to order chicken teriyaki, steak teriyaki and a little Tokyo roll. Got my sushi got my chicken and guess I get rice and carrots. I call to talk to a manager she tells me bring back the food. I go in and a lady ask how can she help I told her I spoke with a manager and she asked what's the issue I told her there's no meat in here and open it up. She's takes the one I bring and throws it away and tells the kitchen what I need. Let me just say my family is already at home eating their dinner and watching a movie while I'm here waiting for them to prepare my corrected food, I'm not sure why it wasn't made before I even got there. The manager I guess comes out and says teriyaki steak I get up to grab the bag and she still holding it asking where's the one I brought. I take the bag and tell her I gave it to the other girl and start to walk out.

No one was wearing a mask, soba noodles tasted and had burnt pieces all through it. Hibachi was good

Rather than us killing one another I decided a good meal was in order. I remembered him saying something about a Japanese restaurant opening a while back, so we thought we'd give it a shot - plus, when dad's treating, who needs Sonic, right?! :) Considering Albemarle isn't exactly known for its fine, worldly cuisine, expectations were quite low. I have to give them credit though; it was actually pretty tasty, especially for the price. I ordered my usual chicken & shrimp combo ($9.99) with fried rice & carrots. Dad ordered steak & chicken (also only $9.99) with the same sides. Each entrée comes with a "free" side salad or onion soup (dine-in only; doesn't come with to-go orders). We were also given free two-flavor sherbet for desert. I must admit, that was a nice touch. Portion sizes were generous (much more than I was expecting, especially for $10), well cooked, and quite tasty. The side salads were very basic (just lettuce & shredded carrot), yet tasty (nice crisp lettuce, not wilted or brown, or with pieces of lettuce the size of a small animal). The ginger dressing was very good--not too sweet, not too tart, and dad's ranch was, well...ranch. Pretty standard. Service was excellent. Our waiter was very personable & helpful, even aiding pops in determining whether he would like hibachi or Teriyaki the best. He also brought dad a sample of their ginger dressing to see if he would like that. Never had to ask for a drink refill and even offered up a box for my dad's leftovers without him asking. And major kudos to him for putting up with my dad's super corny jokes!! I will say that they need to reeeeally work on their "computer 101 student-designed-style" website (http://littletokyorestaurant.yolasite.com/little-tokyo-website.php). At least you can view the menu & that's the main thing I was looking for anyway. All-in-all Little Tokyo was a pleasant experience, and I'm more than happy to return the next time I'm visiting dad. Good food at very reasonable prices. And as far as I know they're the only Japanese restaurant in Albemarle, so it's a nice break from the norm in that area. Add in the friendly staff and you have a winner.

They have a really great $7.99 Monday through Friday lunch special that I will be using exclusively from now on as I don't believe their regular prices are worth what you get. I spent roughly 15$ today for a hibachi combo and the taste and quality doesn't match the price. I didn't find my chicken as dry and chewy as some of the other helpers, but I did find the steak to be dry, bland, and overcooked. They didn't ask me what temp I wanted it. The meat pieces are cut so small that it would be almost impossible not to over cook it. I really liked the way the zucchini and onions were cut and cooked but I wish there was more. I was also disappointed that it wasn't an authentic fried rice with veggies and egg but a tamer blander option that only has corn sparingly. This is typical of a lot of southern towns as the common people don't like to eat their peas. I was delighted to find that they had the option of ginger sauce (not to be confused with ginger dressing) but it was more on the sugary side and less on the gingery side. Overall it satisfied my craving for Japanese food but again I wouldn't want to pay their regular menu pricing for it. It is definitely worth the $8 lunch special price.

Quality has mostly stayed the same for the last 10 years and while the prices have gone up its still a good deal. Many hibachi places fail to do the bare minimum Sapporos has been doing for years. The lady who took my order was very friendly and my order came out pretty quick! I peeked in the rooms and saw the standard hibachi grills and many families enjoying their dinners. Arrive on the 23rd my husband told them we had a reservation and they stated they don't take reservations I must have called the wrong location. I whipped out my call history. December 3rd 11 minutes. Oh yeah we had a new girl that day, wtf? One hour twenty minutes for my birthday dinner. They sat a party of EIGHT with us leaving us with 15 chairs. One person ate in their lap. Nobody seemed to give a crap. So I did not go for a few months. But Sunday May 3rd took the 13 year old for a family birthday dinner. Party of six we were sat with a party of three. We made friends quick because service was horrible minimum of three but usually 5 repeats by each of us for every part of our order. She got my sushi order wrong after 5 repeats of what I wanted until finally the sous chef brought what I ordered. I asked for spicy mayo for my sushi. I believe it was four times while the waitress informed me that there was no such thing but they had spicy mustard. I said can you just let the dude know that I want spicy mayo that's making the sushi with her attitude she walked off. I ordered unsweetened tea and Splenda then had to ask for Splenda all the way till my actual main course My daughter had to repeat her salad order so many times she simply got annoyed. After my daughter ordered, I looked at the waitress, and I said will you be asking us what kind of dressing we wanted on our salads as no one at the table had given their dressing type? She said oh yeah, I guess not even sure what that means. So I'm done gratuity added because we were 6 people. I'm a great tipper so I'm sure she did not get what I would've left, but I'm positive she got more than she deserved

The sauces all come on the side in a small cup, but you can ask for more. There was so much chicken in my bowl, and plenty of rice and veggies to go along with it. The chicken was on par with most fast casual places. I did need to use lots of sauce though to get more flavor out of the bowl. It's nothing that will blow your mind, but it's a good staple to have in your lunch rotation! The price is really fair too, you get what you pay for.

We were crowded around the entrance for a while without much direction until I checked in; they have a policy of not seating until the entire party arrives (6 of us were there, awaiting 2). Once the full group was present, though, we were seated promptly. Our server was excellent--very polite and on top of things. Even when two of our orders came out wrong, the server corrected the mistakes so quickly it didn't disrupt the meal at all. The food quality is definitely where this place shines: * Portion Sizes: Massive. As you can see from the photos, the trays are packed to the edges with rice, noodles, and protein. * Quality: The steak was tender and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. You can tell they care about the quality of their meat. * Affiliation: Knowing they are connected to The Smoke Pit gave us high expectations for the proteins, and they lived up to the name. While it might not be the absolute best hibachi I've ever had, the combination of great service, huge portions, and solid food quality makes it an easy recommendation. It's a great spot for a group--just make sure your whole party arrives at the same time!
