Dudleytown Brewing Company - False Prophet: Pineapple, Banana & Coconut Smoothie Ale

Great brews, decent food, nice space, little pricy…read more Came here as part of a work event. The venue is nice but there's nothing around it beyond a giant sports bubble. The brewers were brewing, and the space inside was nice. They also had an expansive outdoor area and plenty of parking. The drinks were well done, lots of flavors and varieties on tap. No one complained about the beers though the drinks were small for the price. The food venue towards the back was pumping out pizzas from a giant pizza oven with a blazing fire. I ordered some appetizers from the menu for my team to share. Meatballs, elote, and waffle fries. The apps were not easily shareable but we made it work. Waffle fries were generic and not crispy enough. The elote was corn pancakes rather than corn on the cob. My mistake for not fully reading the menu. Flavor was good but messy. Meatballs were good in terms of flavor and consistency, got a decent amount for the price too. The meatballs were the best bite. The pizza is trying to be New Haven style but is missing the structure. Way too floppy and heavy for the style of crust. Needs to be lighter on the sauce and cooked just a couple minutes more to really solidify that bottom and get rid of the tip droop. Cheese had a good elasticity to it though, good cheese pulls. As an informal event venue, it's pretty good but pricy for what you get. As a local brewery, if it can keep its events constant then it will do well. As a food venue, it's high for where it is but the quality is reasonable. A few more shareable apps beyond pizza and just a few small tweaks to the pies and they will be great.

I had no idea what to expect, but this is a beautiful brewery. The silver tree inside is probably my favorite part, honestly. So I'm the worst and I'm allergic to beer, but luckily they have some hard seltzer options. I tried both, can confirm Zombie is incredible and officially one of my fave hard seltzers I've had. I liked the wormhole one as well, but I'm a huge fan of cranberry so that's why I liked the zombie one more. Can't wait til they start serving food here and the kitchen opens officially, I love it!

The Riverview - Beautiful wedding set up

Some scheduling was tweaked, because the bride and groom were exhausted, but the staff handled it effortlessly. The couple had themed cocktails available at the bar, which made bar service extremely quick and smooth. the food was delicious, and table service was very professional. My only complaint for the evening was that the acoustics were TOO good, which way-too-easily amplified the DJ's music (the dance floor could have been slightly bigger too). But if these were the only things about which I wasn't completely satisfied with the venue and the event, that is, to me, proof that the experience was quite enjoyable.

My wife and I had toured two other venues and choosing Riverview was the easiest decision we made in our wedding planning. Our coordinator for our wedding was Chelsea, and she was excellent! She communicated regularly and clearly, and provided great answers and advice when we had questions. Come wedding day, Chelsea's team, including Chelsea, our assistant coordinator Felicia, and both bridal attendants Cam and Tara, worked together seamlessly to ensure our day was perfect. Chelsea ran two quick rehearsals for the ceremony and that's all it took! She gave clear instructions and recommendations and when it was time for the real thing, it was perfect! The whole team made sure we stuck to our schedule, rounded up all the guests we needed for photos, made sure we had some time to ourselves to take in the gravity of the day, and also made sure we ate! The team maintained the perfect distance; close enough to rapidly get involved should they need to, but without making us feel crowded. Another service offered was the option to load our vehicle at the end of the night with our decorations and I cannot stress enough how great this was. We were able to stay out on the dance floor ALL the way until the end of the reception while the staff loaded the car for us to pick up the following morning. This way, we got to spend as much time with all our guests without worrying about coordinating a clean up crew, and figuring out who is going home with what. Our guests continue to tell us how much they loved the food and how beautiful and clean the venue was (we thoroughly agree). I wholeheartedly recommend the Riverview, Maureen, Chelsea, and her team to put together the wedding of your dreams. Thanks again to Riverview and the whole team for our perfect wedding!

"The warden threw a party in the county jail The prison band…read morewas there and they began to wail The band was jumpin' and the joint began to swing You should've heard those knocked out jailbirds sing" (Elvis Presley) What an awesome slice of Connecticut and U.S. history! At various times, the grounds housed the oldest copper mine in the U.S. and one of its oldest state prisons. The prisoners sentenced to the jail were mostly thieves, robbers and British sympathizers. One was a murderess (yes, this was a coed prison), and a few were imprisoned for "laziness"! The walk down into the mine put us on several staircases that were very wet (water is dripping everywhere), slippery and uneven. So if you're a little unsteady on your feet, you might want to think twice about the 75 foot descent into the lowest section of the mine. There will be plenty of handrails to guide you, and beware of a few stone "low bridges" you'll have to duck down to avoid. Otherwise you'll take a solid stone slab to the forehead. Another thing to mention is the temperature down there is pretty chilly. So even if you visit on a 95 degree day and you're wearing a tank top and shorts outside, you might want to pack a sweater or sweatshirt for your visit to the mine. It was very cool learning how the mine was built, and we saw remnants of some of the drilled holes where dynamite was lowered into the rock to blast away solid stone. We also saw traces of golden copper and green patina on the rocky walls. We learned that over the years there had been over 70 escape attempts, including one massive jailbreak where over 20 prisoners made it out. Just about all of them were eventually captured, but a few ran into the woods and were never found. After we came up from the mine floor, we explored the grounds and wandered among the remnants of the old jailhouse, guardhouse and prison yard. They were very creepy, and we saw some of the prisoner shackles and chains on display. Our tour guide was great, as was the friendly young lady at the ticket booth and gift shop. The surrounding grounds and view are quite beautiful, and we learned they are used for wedding and prom photos. So who knows, maybe this will be a wedding venue some day!
