We were first time parents during COVID and did not have a village to support us in taking care of our newborn. Fiona referred me to a lactation nurse that was so supportive and provided detailed guidance on breastfeeding. Fiona worked on my son's torticollis and feeding issues in the beginning. As he got older, her therapists worked on his fine and gross motor skills. My son loved playing with Fiona and all the WeeFun therapists and graduated from the Regional Center last month when he turned 3. We saw 3 or 4 speech therapist before her and suddenly he's 95% on board with participating while practicing new skill and he was 0% participating with the other ones. So grateful we got paired with her, she pushes him the perfect amount for him and that changes by the moment constantly reading him and seeing what he's up to in each moment while not letting him avoid practice all together. Both of my children were referred, authorized, evaluated, and started the intake process together, yet weeks later we are suddenly being told they must now be scheduled on separate days and different times despite me making my expectations very clear from the beginning. I specifically explained upfront that if these accommodations could not be met, we would seek services elsewhere instead of wasting valuable time waiting through this process. Instead of listening, the office continued the process only to later tell us they could not accommodate what was already discussed. Melva contacted me multiple times only to repeatedly say there was "nothing she can do," which is unacceptable considering this issue was created by the facility's own lack of communication and scheduling consistency. She also refused to provide management or owner contact information when requested, making it even more frustrating to try and resolve the issue professionally. To make matters worse, Zoom appointments were suggested for my son despite being informed he cannot effectively participate in long virtual sessions due to focus and attention difficulties. Families seeking services deserve clear communication, honesty, and respect from the beginning -- especially when dealing with children and lengthy referral/authorization wait times. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here.
