I'm easily persuaded. Yesterday afternoon, within 10 steps of leaving work, hubby had successfully convinced me we should eat dinner out. Little Singapore is tucked into the Albert Lane, er, laneway. If you're heading up from Elizabeth Street, stick to the right, and head in just before Kathmandu. It's on the right, between Sushi Sushi and something akin to General Clothing Co. It's table service (at least it is for dinner), so just plonk down into one of their high backs and start browsing. Ambience *** The restaurant is blockaded by glass panelling so you can be sure you're corraled into the correct place. Marble tabletops, dark wood chair legs and cream leather cushions on the seats indicate that when this place first opened, it was immaculate. Now, well, it still has a swish groovy feeling, but you know its starting to wear. The kitchen is open; you can watch your chefs with their funky hats on cook your meal if you're sitting close enough, which would be good, except they need a uniform upgrade, they're looking a bit shabby for an open kitchen. There's a sauce station near the cashier, where you can help yourself to a multitude of spicy or mild options. I couldn't hear any music, and no doubt because half the restaurant is open-air, where the other half is a little dark and intimate. I prefer my air fresh and my people watching unobstructed, so we sat 'outside'. This restaurant is group friendly and family friendly, so if you've got rugrats, feel free to bring them in. Service ***** Our waitress was very welcoming and accommodating. Her english was good enough to understand me when I asked what some of the items were as they were not in English. Also upon asking if I could substitute the seafood in my meal for chicken she was very happy to organise that for me (yay!). The staff, all Asian, work happily around each other judging by their regular smiles. There are plenty of wait staff on at dinner time; you only need to raise your eyes toward one of them and they'll come straight away to take your order or answer a question. The cashier at the end of the meal was just as nice and smiling as the waitress, and I was happy to tip for our meal (I don't auto-tip). Food *** I'm not sure if the menu has changed since I was last here - maybe, maybe not - but it does seem reduced from what I remember (or think I do!). Check it out on their website, under the 'Uptown' menu, but I'm almost 100% there used to be more variety. I ordered the... bugger, I've forgotten... Char Kway Teow, with chicken, and hubby the Beef and Blackbean Chow Mein. We also ordered frappes ($5 each), him the mango and me the strawberry (see photos). They were MASSIVE. I couldn't find a measurement on the cupware, but good lord, they were huge! I was expecting half of what we received - for the same price you'd get much less at Coffee Club! The flavour was okay, I couldn't put my finger on it at first, but I realised halfway through dinner that mine tasted like (okay, stick with me here) strawberry jelly crystals. If you were ever a jelly crystal eating kid, you will know what I mean. It was definitely strawberry flavoured, with these little bubbles of flavour which burst into your mouth, and there was evidence of some fruit pulp/ seed in the frappe, but I wouldn't hesitate to say there's a good bunch of artificial flavouring in them, too. The food came out fairly quickly after the frappes, hubby's first, and I kind of cocked my head at the sight of the button mushrooms. Now, I'm no Singaporean cook, and I'm quite likely wrong, but I've never seen mushrooms in a beef and blackbean before. On the other hand, my dish looked and tasted spot on, with bean sprouts, flat noodles, and a GOOD portion of chicken tossed in. My only gripe with my meal was that it was way too big. I brought the doggie bag (yes they do) to work for lunch today. Yum! Additional notes VERY IMPORTANT! This venue is CASH ONLY. There are ATMs back out on Albert Street, just turn right and head up to the NAB ATMs (of which there are 3). Also, Little Singapore's trading hours, according to the sign on the window, says its open til at least 10pm every night. I'm not going to guarantee that, but if you are out late having a good night, might be worth a pop-in for a pre 'sleep-off-the-impending-hangover' meal. This restaurant could make a better profit by cutting down portions. I might be sounding racist, and if I am, I don't mean to offend, but I can't tell if Asian restaurants have become accustomed to serving larger portions to deal with Western appetites or whether these are normal portion sizes. Almost every Chinese, Thai, Viet eatery I've been to, I haven't been able to finish my meal. And I hate wasting food. Charge more, or serve less. Hubby and I could have easily shared one plate if we'd had an appetiser to share as well. read more

Thought it would be Marryland chicken thigh instead chicken breast with some sort of fried battered. In fact it is the same fried battered they used in buffet take away. Not recommended. I do really like this place, and it has been quite successful in stopping me from getting to Vapiano which I usually am headed to. For some reason I just don't quite make it. The food here is consistent with the other one in Sunnybank and tasty. The cooks have made it one of their goals to serve this food the best way possible, consistently tasty and neatly presented. It is clean, for the space it is in, very effective. I like the 2 choices of bbq meats with the dry egg noodles and I love the roti canai even more. Will be back when i'm in town every time. I went here last night looking for somewhere I could share dinner with my 14 month old. The staff were excellent, very accommodating. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. Every time youre in the city this is the place to go, every time i go there i order the nasi lemak, an incredible mix of rice, chicken curry, beef curry , deep driend egg, fish and pickled vegies. DAMNNNN its amazing! This is one of the most consistent and quality restaurants i have ever been to. As others have mentioned on here already, it's a great option for take-away meals or a quick meal if you're dining in. The prices are affordable even for Brisbane CBD standards. So far I've had the Chicken Satay + Chicken & Salted Fish Fried Rice, both were really great with good portions. The service is typical of what you would expect at an Asian restaurant, so there weren't any surprises there. Been here a couple of times! It's pretty good. It's busy and loud and filled with so many people coming from work! It's usually not for a lot of uni students even though the food is pretty big plated and cheap. The service is not that nice all the time, it all depends when people are filling the restaurant and how fast the food can get to the table. I took my bf for his first time and we got hokkien noodles, char kway teow and one of the fruit frappes with the popping boba! The food was totally filling and it took us a while to finish it! Little Singapore in Albert Lane is the baby version of the Little Singapores on Charlotte street and at Sunnybank. This one is sort of an express Little Singapore and is aimed at the takeaway market as well as those who just want a quick meal. The whole express thing doesn't mean that the food isn't as delicious as at the other Little Singapores though. If anything, it's better here. All the food here is served in paper or plastic containers and you can help yourself to disposable cutlery and a sauce bar that has little tubs so you can take your condiments away too. There is lots of seating here, as well as the takeaway option and the new Albert Lane area is one of the nicest areas in the city to sit and eat. When you order, they give you a little pager and you come back and grab your food when they page you. The food will be quick and it will be super hot and fresh when you get it. I highly recommend the roti here. You can watch the chef rolling it out and cooking it through the glass window at the front. It comes with a delicious lamb curry and some pickles etc. in a plastic tray with cute little compartments to keep everything separate. The other thing I like to get is the satay vegetables and rice. The satay sauce is light and fresh, not gluggy and oily like some others. Little Singapore is one of the best places to eat in the city, and you're guaranteed a quick, cheap, tasty meal. read more

Had the veggie curry puffs, vegetarian satay and the chef altered their well renowned char kway teow to be vegetarian friendly just for us. This place was extremely accommodating and I noticed the previous one star review because they wouldn't serve a guy water for free, I find this hard to believe as it is literally the first thing that is put on your table when you sit down, completely free of charge. Unless this incredibly self entitled individual was looking to come into a business that has bills and staffing to pay, receive something for nothing and then leave. In which case, I'm sorry dude, where the F*ck do you get off? There are free drinking fountains all over this city and you expect a business owner to pay staff to hand deliver you a glass of water free of charge? Get over yourself. Took us right back to our Roti days in Singapore. The Roti Chicken currie was a delight and the slaty fish fried rice was the best fried rice in a very long time. Little Singapore was my absolute first meal upon arriving to Brisbane. My husband and I stumbled across this place, jet-lagged and run down by our 14 hour flight in from LA. I ordered a big bowl of something I saw on the table nearby and waited. Laksa. A GIANT bowl of fragrant, tangy, spicy, seafood-y Laksa...I could eat this for the rest of my life and be happy. Chunks of fried eggplant, prawns, bean sprouts, gelatinious seafood things, mussles, rice and egg noodles, and green beans. Please try this if you come here. This Little Singapore, tucked away in the relatively new precinct of Albert Lane (just off Queen St Mall), is a great little place to grab some flavoursome food. The menu features a fusion of Asian cuisines, which reflect the nature of food in Singapore, attuned to Western tastes. You will find the staple Nasi Goreng, a number of mild curries and of course, stir-fry Singapore noodles. Though simple meals, they are packed with flavour, and give you the option to add soy sauce, chilli sauce, fish sauce, chilli flakes and pickled ginger to your dish once it is prepared. True to many Asian restaurants, the menu is complete with pictures, and once you decide on your dish of choice, you order at the counter and receive a buzzer to alert you when your food is ready. There are also a number of drinks available, from bubble teas through to freshly squeezed lemonade (definitely worth a try!). The meals are very generous and most importantly, delicious. The Singapore noodles are packed with vegetables, BBQ pork and chicken. You can choose to either eat-in or have take-away. There are a lot of restaurants (and many more fast food places) in the city that can be a hit and miss when it comes to asian food. This restaurant is pretty much always a hit. It's just a little walk from Queen Street Mall, next to the police station on Albert St, and it's one of my favourite food venues in the city. There's quite a big range of dishes so you'll surely find one you like. My personal favourite is the butter herbed chicken, which comes with a side of plain rice. I do have to ask for some lemon to go along with it as it can be too salty without it but the waiters are always happy to accommodate. I also recommend the Singapore Fried Vermicelli, which have really tasty prawns and chicken. All of the dishes come in generous servings and are reasonably priced. I'm also a big fan of frappes and Little Singapore has a good watermelon frappe, though a couple of times the watermelon lacked flavour. The wintermelon ice tea is also worth a try if you want something with an interesting flavour; it has a sort of coffee aftertaste and is very sweet. It can get crowded at lunch and dinner times so sometimes you may have to wait for a table to open up. read more

Little Singapore is a tiny casual dining and takeaway Asian fusion restaurant. I like to come here when I am a little bit strapped for cash as these dishes will often be big enough for two meals (sometimes three). Each dish is roughly around $10 and come in round takeaway containers. You can either eat at one of the small tables or take them away. My favourite dish is the 'Singapore Noodles' which is filled to the top of the container. What I often end up doing is eating a fair bit in the restaurant and taking the rest home. This is the dish that will last me three meals. All the dishes I have had are full of flavour and not coated in oil like other takeaway Asian places. Another good thing about 'Little Singapore" is that even when the place is busy; you will never have to wait long for your meal. I recommend this restaurant /takeaway place to my friends on a budget who are after something better than 2 minute noodles. I ordered the garlic prawn with rice and it was completely tasteless. The rice was dry and flavorless, and the prawns were just swimming in a flavorless goo of watery sauce that was supposed to be garlic. I ate a couple of prawns to taste and gave one to my friends to show them how bad it was and we called the manager to complain. The manager was very unapologetic and was defensive, and said I should have said something earlier. He put us in a very uncomfortable situation and although they did not charge us for the dish in the end, i was very disappointed by their service and attitude. The portion of food is huge for me, usually i will pack half of the food and take away or share one dish with my friend. If this is your first time to come to this restaurant, I recommend order some fry noodle, such as Char Kway Teow or Beef Brisket & Tendon noodle. The Beef Brisket & Tendon with rice is also very tasty, one of my friend order this every time she come to little Singapore. A friend and I had just come off a seminar one evening and we were both starving, so we sought out a cheap and fast dining option. I've been to their other establishments at Sunnybank and Charlotte St, so thought we were going to get the same level of service I've come to expect. Needless to say, this was probably the worst dining experience we've ever encountered. Nothing that we wanted was available and when I asked if we could get some water for the table, we were told that they only had bottled water (i mean, who doesn't provide complimentary water these days?!) Also, the waitress that we dealt with didn't seem to know anything that was on their menu. We've asked what certain items were and the answer we always got was "I'm not sure" or "I don't know" Definitely will not be coming back here. read more
