Soooo....this is a local favorite and I have been meaning to try Little Saigon for years. I have heard it is the best pho and nothing but positive things. I was very disappointed with my visit. It almost hurts to write this review. I tend not to judge restaurants with outdated decor or scuffed walls but I want to feel like I the tables and chairs are clean. I didn't feel like our table was clean and the spoons for use in the middle of the table were sticky and stick together. The spring rolls and pho we got didn't live up to the hype I have heard for years. The staff was nice but you needed to flag someone down for help or even walk to the front when you needed something. Stopped in on a cold Thursday morning. Ordered a cup of coffee with evaporated milk which was strong and gave me that kick I needed to wake up. Although many of the tables around me were ordering Pho , I ordered the shrimp spring rolls. The soft rice paper was filled with rice vermicelli, cilantro and several large cooked shrimp. The two very large spring rolls came with a delicious dipping sauce. My favorite part of my breakfast was the wonderful pot of steaming hot green tea! Cant wait to comeback for the Pho. read more

We're in town just for a weekend work trip and were desperately looking for some good Asian cuisine in this sandwich-infested land (jk i liked the sandwiches too). This place is as authentic as they come. Broth is very flavorful and deep, beef was tender, and portions are huge for the price. As a family member of the owners, I am proud of my family's long time legacy. The biggest thing about this restaurant is consistency. Yes, there have definitely been upgrades in terms of the interior of the restaurant and store. but they have never changed the great quality and they put in the food and service. They definitely excel in rice dishes and other Dishes that are authentically Vietnamese (banh xeo and ap chao). I really liked the pho here. It was delicious and quick and good quality. I also got a chicken banh mi, which was less exciting. The flavor of the chicken was fine, the bread was okay but not as crispy as I'd expect in a proper baguette, and the condiments didn't include cilantro, which threw me for a loop. Would definitely come back and order the pho without hesitation. I'm also interested to explore more of the menu. What a little gem this place was! They have lots of premade food for take out but you have the choice of eating it there! Plenty of seating in the dining room for large parties. Menus are located at the tables for your convenience. We decided to eat in and ordered a few things. First we got a bowl of their deluxe Pho. The broth was flavorful and came out quick! The Banh mi was delicious and big! Just enough filling and the bread was warm and crunchy! I also tried the Banh xeo aka as the yellow pancakes, which is like a Vietnamese savory crepe! It was also portioned perfectly. The sauce for that lacked a little spice and could use more fish sauce but it was good. I also picked up some of the premade food. I got the stickey rice and pork. Definitely better after I heated it back up. I also picked up Banh cuon aka rice rolls with pork/mushrooms. It was good but could use more filling. And I got a sesame ball and wish I would have got more then one! It was so crispy but chewy and lots of mung bean filling!!! The spring rolls was average. Service was good. Definitely a team effort from everyone! You don't get checked on like a regular restaurant so if you need something you will have to wave someone down or ask the guy at the front cashing people out. Parents have been friends with the owners since I was probably in the womb. Had to stop by Harrisburg, PA to drop something off at my grandma's. My brother and I really were craving their pho and bun bo. This place is ALL flavor, no frills. It doesn't really look like it in pictures. But the broth is very good here. My brother always wants to come if we are around the area. This place has also NEVER changed. Holy wow. Regardless of being 2 years old or 22 years old: the scenery here is always static. Every time I walk in I get a hit of the familiar smell, the atmosphere, the crowd (always filled with a bunch of Vietnamese families!). Very warm atmosphere and I have observed some customers who appear to be regulars to the point of the restaurant employees knowing their usual orders and knowing them well. Beware, this place is the absolute worst place in the world to do business. My experience is the Restuarant and the grocery store are both unclean. I ordered food from there on Paxton street, the Pho was good the first time, that was it!! After that they started to serve bot broth with So Much Oil you'd peach probably kill over if consumed. The Place HAD AUDACITY TO PLACE RAW MEAT BLOODY BEEF ONTOP OF THE COOKED MEAT AND VEGETABLES when it should have been isolated to prevent E. coli. the MEAT THEY USED WAS TERRIBLY OLD AND OF THE LOWEST QUALITY AND THE COOK WAS CAUGHT PICKING HIS BOOGERS!!! I would say the best pho in the 'Burg. A little bit more star anise than others which makes for a very fragrant and delicious broth. I love the Bahn mi 2go fridge. Simply the BEST fast food anywhere! Great grub, great Vietnamese coffee, good service. Highly recommend. Plus you can go grocery shopping next door for all of your Asian cooking needs. I'm not from this area and wasn't sure of the Covid hours so I just showed up. Unfortunately I got there at 4:58, two minutes before close (temporarily). The man at the counter (perhaps the owner) still greeted me with a smile and took my order! I was thankful. Him and the cook got the food out quickly even though they were both in the middle of their closing duties. When I opened the bag of food. I was surprised at how much they gave me! pros = This is a great little restaurant that is located off of Paxton Street, next to Jumbo Buffet. It used to be an old beer warehouse a long long time ago. the food is excellent. and i like it very spicy. Little Saigon has a basic menu, they just recently expanded it to about 25 different items. so if you dont know what to get they only have a few things to choose from. it has a main lunch hall, and also a dining area that they just recently opened up that looks a lot nicer than the rest of the place. There are TVs mounted on the walls or at either end of the dining hall that have sports or vietnamese langauge programing on. there and people are always chatting and gossiping about something. reminds me of what it would be like to actually be in Saigon. this actually is the oldest operating vietnamese restaurant in harrisburg city. and seriously.... since they opened that HACC campus up by Garden, garden raised their prices on everything by about 35% that's crazy, rose also has raised her prices... garden has a basic menu, but still is in the 4.95 - 5.25 range for most of their soups. there have been about a doszen that have come and gone, especially in the paxton street area: pho pasteur, pho vietnam, pho van houc, the pho inside Remy's XO club, hung xue, saigon delite, etc.... cons = This store is the only vietnamese restaurant that sells egg rolls individually, normally they come in a pair. The last time i wet there they gave me two pairs of spring rolls, when all i wanted was one pair. I never really have been upset with people who move to this country, of the fact that they cant always speak english perfectly, I think I admire they because they are bold, they move to a new country and totally change their way of life. But it sometimes is a hassle when you say something and they dont fully grasp what you are trying to say. Also they dont take debit or credit cards, cash only. once i forgot my cash and they made me go to the store and charge my card in the store and give the cash to the waiter. Updating my review because I have tried at least a dozen Vietnamese restaurants from Pennsylvania to Maine to Florida and nothing is like Little Saigon. I live in Florida now and dream of the dipping sauce for the spring rolls. I wish I could have the recipe because no restaurants here do it right!!! read more

Talk about a no-nonsense place to eat. Get in, Get your stuff, eat it, and get out. Every time I've come here, the time it takes for me to sit down, grab the menu and focus my eyes to the page, there is already a server ready to take the order. Thankfully I have been here enough to know their menu pretty well for this to be commonplace during ordering. A few complaints to get out of the way. Most of the time they will come to your table once, thats it. So you'd better order everything you need right at the beginning, this includes your extra waters you will need, teas and also sodas. Refills are an option if you manage to flag one of the servers down for one but it will be something you need to work for since these guys rarely stop moving. Second during busy times the noise can be almost unbearable since there is nothing to stop it from traveling so come during off hours if noise is a problem for you. With that out of the way, the pho here I've found is the best tasting (for me) out of any place in Harrisburg. They add the meat pretty much raw to the hot broth right before its brought to your table so it cooks on the way and is very fresh. You can also request they keep it on the side and you can add it at your own pace. Their noodle bowls have room for improvement, and their eggrolls are slightly peppery which I am not fond of. Their spring rolls are good and made fresh right as they're ordered. Sometimes they come out and tell me they are making them and that's why they haven't been brought out yet. Take the pho from here, add the eggrolls from the garden and you'll have yourself a fantastic combination. read more

Pros: Authentic Vietnamese dishes. Friendly servers. Simple decor, but good food. And connected to a asian supermarket if you need to shop after eating. Cons: Since I live closer to Philly these days, I'm comparing what I had to my usual spots on Washington Ave. Portions at Little Saigon were much smaller and more expensive than what I typically get at Nam Phuong or Cafe Viet Huong. I haven't been here in quite a while, but it really hasn't changed. That's not a bad thing, either. The lunch folks (like me) don't get to enjoy the nicer dining room, and there is definitely nothing fancy about the place, but the food is very good, and quite reasonable. I had my usual spring roll appetizer. Little Saigon only gives you one roll, where others in the area give you two. But it's still very tasty, and definitely worth the price ($1.25). Next I had the basic beef pho. One of the better pho offerings I've had in the area. The beef was tasty, with no fat or gristle, and the broth was nicely seasoned. There was plenty of food, and I'm once again regretting that I didn't get a small bowl! I also had a Coke. Strangely enough, they have a large soda fountain near the cash register, but they serve soft drinks by the can. Overall, this is a nice place for a quick, no-nonsense lunch. read more

This place is just OK....not the best I've had and definately not the worse either. In my opinion, I thought the broth was too peppery and had a lil too much of star anise in it. The bowls were also a lot smaller than what I'm used to having here in the Philadelphia region. I normally only order smalls in Philly (and even ordering small, I give some to my husband), but at this place, I finished a large bowl. My husband was a little upset that I didn't share any of my pho with him bc he was still starving after eating his bowl. HAHAHA. The good about this place...the coffee. I loved that they actually brought it out in a drip press. I hate places that have iced coffee already pre-made and just pour ice when it's ordered. Not here!! I have tried pho at almost every Vietnamese restaurant around. Every time I stray away from Little Saigon I'm either disgusted or disappointed. I'm of Asian decent and feel that I'm a pretty good judge on the quality of ethnic foods. Little Saigon has the BEST PHO and spring/pork rolls around. They offer a delicious stir fry over fried flat noodles as well. All my favorites. All their sauces that go with their dishes are the best too. As far as the pho, there is no better broth. The meat is thinly sliced and not fatty which is how I prefer it. Big hunks of meat and fat tend to gross me out. I always get a side of steamed veggies to throw in the soup and it adds to the delight. A serving of sprouts, basil, cilantro, limes, and hot peppers is accompanied with the soup. The other Vietnamese restaurants don't always give you all the things! If you look at the people who eat there, you'll see tables filled with Vietnamese people. This speaks volumes. If I could rate it zero stars! This place is horrible. They discriminate against customers. Ordering over the phone and placing an order in person yields different results each time. They served my soup with raw meat with cooked vegetables and noodles. This is a huge violation it can get you sick to eat blood from an uncooked Meat source. Everyone should know that especially in serving food to the public. It should never touch and be separated. It was only then did I see that they are discriminating against patrons. When you call it leaves no room for error and they bagged my food so nicely and perfect. And my raw eye round beef was placed in a plastic bag separated from the cooked meat and cooked components. I've seen them swap out fresh food with old food when they set the perishables out on the table all day. And the other number one reason is that I saw with my own eye the woman in the kitchen dig up her nose and pick her boogies and proceed to cook which was the most gross !! All flavor no frills! We have eaten in Vietnamese restaurants all over the world and this was in the top two for taste. The flavors were excellent in the pho and bun and the clientele agreed as it was very crowded for 2:30 pm on a Sunday. The atmosphere, however was in the bottom two as it is just an addition on to the market, a simple change of allowing guests to enter directly into the restaurant rather than through the somewhat dingy warehouse style market would be a drastic improvement and could push the review towards a rare 5 star rating. This restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but well worth the money. The food is delicious and reasonable priced. Moreover, the people who work here are friendly and helpful. I am very curious about Vietnamese food, but do not speak Vietnamese. They do not make fun of me when I ask them to describe certain dishes to me. Most of them do not speak English very well, but together, we find a way to communicate. They are very kind and patient. The best time to go, in my opinion is Saturday afternoon. They have extras available. These are things that are not on the menu but they make only on weekends. I love the sesame balls. We were shopping at teh attached Market (for Pho fixin's) and decided to try the Pho. Service was quick... the place was pretty empty and the Pho's came fast. The interior is dated to un-kept, but you're really not looking for high-end atmosphere... with a bowl of Pho, anyway. I'd have to say - the Pho is pretty darn good, but not great. I just think... that the noodes in Pho s/b, not clumped together. The brooth / stock here is good, but not great. The meat (beef) was good. The prices are fair, maybe even on hte low-side for the area, not like we're talking about a big investment... the average large bowl of Pho in this area is about $8.
