My mom had passed away two years ago and I knew my first tattoo had to be what she alway said to me and wrote in cards, but it also had to be in her exquisite handwriting l, too. I walked into Little Pricks, met Damian and knew he was the perfect person to help me with this. Kind man, kind voice and all around good man who loves the process. Big teddy bear hug at the end! Thank you for honoring my mom.

    the example i gave

i came in two hours before they closed on a sunday and was waiting for an hour to be tended. nobody greeted me when i walked in, asked what i was looking to get done until an hour later. there was one person ahead of me and nobody even bothered to come up to me to ask me about what i wanted done. i then showed a picture of what i wanted to the artist Carlos and he kept making weird faces saying how he was worried about the time and kept sighing saying he's not sure if he can do it. WHICH, i wouldn't have minded had someone come up to me sooner saying it was too detailed of a piece to have done in one day. but, he continued to stall giving me excuses saying there was a big time crunch and what not. he took forever to draft it and the picture he drafted was so blurry not even close to the one i sent him. he then said he's gonna try to get the other artist there to do it because he didn't wanna have to be here too late doing it. the other artist said no and he continued to stall making excuses about the time and originally had said it would be like $400, but as he started to stall and it got a little later he said he could do one bird and if i came back for him to finish the other bird he'd have to up his price to $500 because he'd have to "set up his station again" like wtf does that even mean? is that not part of your job to set up? you're telling me this man was gonna charge me an extra $100 after quoting me a price because he would have to finish the job another day because he was to lazy to start it to begin with and is now trying to charge me more to have to finish another day when that was entirely his fault and everyone in that tattoo place's fault for not coming up to me sooner and just telling me they couldn't do it versus wasting my time and then trying to up charge me to do it a different day. i spent 2 hours there and had to drive an extra hour back home after this and i ended up not getting anything done. i was livid. the workers are lazy, the service is shitty, and don't go to carlos if you're looking to get quality time taken on your pieces. he'll try to pawn it off to someone else then up charge you for not being able to do his own job in a timely manner. f*** ridiculous man. i've had bigger pieces done for $300 in a way shorter time span. insane. do not come here would not recommend

*Beware* Like most rent a chair tattoo studios, Little pricks benefits from its rating due to the quality of the tattoo artists work not to the establishment itself. So here's my rant...Regardless of circumstances this place does not, will not refund deposits. I completely understand if someone changes their mind about getting a tattoo but In my circumstance, I had a tattoo artist who I set an appointment with and gave a deposit to, leave little pricks. In the days prior to my appointment I received messages from LITTLE PRICKS confirming my appointment. In Fact Multiple messages confirming my appointment. Then the day of my appointment, when I walk in I'm told my tattoo artists last day was yesterday and I would have to seek her out for my refund. No "Sorry" no "We apologize" just a reasoning of " this happens." Just ridiculous, I did not pay her I paid LITTLE PRICKS regardless if she's there or not the establishment should be responsible when something like this happens. Its frustrating that this is how they do business, I'd like to say that I'm surprised but honestly, I'm not. Way to swindle me out of $100. * To be fair, When I was told they wouldn't refund me and I'd have to seek her out they did offer to have the gentlemen behind the front desk do my tattoo right then, right there.....No thank you. Who in their right mind would let some random person put some thing permanent on their body without seeing what kind of work they do.*

My husband and I always get a travel tattoo from where ever we are visiting. We like to give the artist free range and come up with something that represents their city but stay with in a 2"x2" (ish) area. We did a little research and found this place. Loved the art work from all the artists. We called made an appointment and went in to see Josiah. Let me just say that when calling this shop they are the nicest and most helpful tattoo place we have EVER called. I was like talking to a friend. We had no idea what Josiah would come up with. When we got there he came up with such a great idea it was just perfect! He came up with the Congress bridge with the bat coming out at dusk and us paddle boarding under them. I would definitely recommend this place. Our tattoo has so much detail and is so well done. Josiah is fun to talk too and has a great sprit about him.

Late review! But I had Kevin D do my tattoo, this was about a 3hr tattoo so he was always asking if I needed a breather, a break, water, anything which is very reassuring for your first big tattoo, definitely will be wanting more!! Very clean shop and Kevin answered any questions or concerns I would had. It took a good 2-3 weeks for it to not feel like a sunburn lol (Before and After pictures)

We came on August 9th, 2022. My best friend and I wanted to get matching tattoos for our birthdays while visiting Austin. Little Pricks was rated high, and we called to see if they would take walk-in appointment for two. They immediately said yes, and were able to get us in within an hour. Incredibly friendly atmosphere, whether you're new to getting tattoos or not. Luisa Gonzalez was our artist, and was ABSOLUTELY incredible. She made sure that we were happy with the pieces she had drawn up, and that everything was exactly how we wanted it. Gave us advice when asked, and just overall made sure it was a great experience. She did both of us within about three hours, and I can 100% say that when in Austin, I WILL SEE HER AGAIN!

I came here for a black/ gray botanical snake tattoo and Luisa knocked it out of the park. She was fun to hangout with for 6 hours during the tattoo and really made the process as easygoing as possible.

This by far is the best all around tattoo shop in Austin if not Texas. Josiah hands down is the best artist on the scene today! The other artist are very talented. This shop has the greatest ownership!! The shop is clean and sanitary, artists are so friendly and knowledgeable. The music in the shop will chill you out when you get some ink!! If your not going to Little Pricks your cheating yourself out of some great art!

I just recently moved to the area and had been looking to find a good spot and one that has an artist who's amazing in American traditional tattoos and I stumbled upon Little Pricks and was not disappointed! Worked with Kyle who made the experience easy and was super professional. Line work, incredible!! Definitely coming back so he can help me fill up the rest of this leg. His wife who also owns the shop with him is super cool too! She does amaziiing flower work. Definitely check this spot out if you're looking for tattoo.

I came in to get a new fitted nose ring about a month ago I only needed a new fitted ring. I've had the piercing itself for 10 years now & I've never had an issue with changing jewelry and I've had it at a 18 gauge the full time. The piercer said he grabbed the right size jewelry after sizing . Showed it to me.. I said it looked kinda thick and he said it was standard size. I thought that was weird but trusted him since I told him the gauge size to begin with. Then I asked for help getting old nose ring out and this one in. He proceeded to gauge my nose with out my knowledge and when I pulled back and said "OWCH" he said it just needed lube because it wasn't going in and continue to force it in and was extremely aggressive about it and acted like I was stupid or didn't know what I was talking about when I voiced I've never felt pain like that changing a piercing. My nose bled and was so swollen the next day that I had to go to a different shop to get it taken out because I couldn't even sleep on that side of my face it hurt so bad. The next shop I saw said that he gauged my nose ring to a 16 and ripped it a little from gauging it so roughly.

I wanted to have "him" with me in some way for the rest of my life... enter ZULU. I am a hairdresser, and a wonderful client of mine said to me one day as we were discussing tattoos, "there's nobody on earth I'd let tattoo me other than Zulu". This is HIGH praise coming from this particular woman, so I looked him up. As soon as I went to his website, I felt an energy that I can only describe as "this is it, this is my guy", I knew it immediately. Browsing through his work, I was blown away. His meticulous attention to detail is unmatched. He is an ARTIST of the highest degree. His website images don't do justice to the work- I don't think any picture of his work can do his art justice. You *have* to see it to believe it. I had a consultation with him, and shared with him images of things I liked, and things I'm drawn to, but mostly I wanted him to create it. Several days later, he sent me an image of what he came up with, and it was a slam dunk, just as I knew it would be. It took 3 sessions to complete, and it is a MASTERPIECE. I love the art on my forearm so much it's stupid. I get so much attention because it's so incredible. I even met Prince's band The Revolution, and they were blown away! Wendy and Lisa couldn't stop touching it! Anyway, you get my point, right? So here's another thing... Zulu himself is an amazing human being. He and I had the most wonderful conversations and now he's my friend forever. Choose Zulu as your artist and you'll have more than just a tattoo, you'll have a masterpiece.

So this past weekend was my first experience directly under the hand of Zulu. Since we visited a…read morefew months ago for him to work on my wife's back, he and I have been in contact about what I've had planned for the remainder of the sleeve on my right arm. Because I travel for 6 months of the year the remainder of our conversations have been via email and also a 30 minute FaceTime consultation while I was overseas in place of a telephone call. Khani (shop mgr/wife) has done a wonderful job throughout of keeping the flow going and making sure that Zulu was available to discuss issues with me as needed. Zulu spent a considerable amount of time prepping for our arrival this trip as I had provided a number of different pieces of Tibetan art work to use for reference on my arm. After the FaceTime consult he fully understood what I wanted and that he was also given full artistic license to do what looked right and would flow with what I already had on my arm. He is only the second artist I've aver talked to that immediately got my concept and was genuinely excited about doing the work I was requesting. This was first obvious to me when we originally visited, but once we had talked and he started the work on the final design, the true light came out in Zulu. I arrived about 15 minutes early to the studio and just sat while he continued to collect his thoughts and worked to get the various pieces setup. We started with a fitting of the largest piece that would be done which was a full incarnation of Mara in demon form. Zulu only needed to resize it once and then worked on the angle and layout on my forearm (which is not big in any way) however, he laid it out to allow for the rest of the piece around and on the back of my arm. Once we had it fully laid out he applied the initial stencil for Mara and then he got to work. Zulu uses a rotary gun to apply his tattoos (as does Pinky which makes for a soothing sound in the small space). The beauty of this style of application is that unlike a normal gun that basically hammers you throughout the process, the rotary is more like a smooth flowing motion. When you add this to the extremely delicate touch that Zulu has while tattooing it makes for the absolute most pleasurable experience I've had to date. There was literally no pain until about the last 10 minutes of the session. We took a total of 4.5 hours to do all of the outline work for my arm, the detail in person looks unlike any I previously thought possible from a tattoo. His classical art training comes out when he works and his chair side manor is beyond reproach. The music in the studio is also spot on allowing Zulu to get into his groove and produce the beginnings of a masterpiece. I say beginnings because I can't wait to come back to finish the color and shading in November. Bottom line: if you want something that is truly a masterpiece on you as the canvas...than Zulu is the person to do it for you. There is no longer a need for me to search out an artist for my other projects, Zulu has a client for life.
