It took me a while to decide on a shop here in the Austin area. After some research, I chose Little Pricks and I'm glad I did. Here's why. Little Pricks is a top-notch establishment with artists who care about the quality of work produced along with their clients' overall vision. First impressions are important, so when I first walked into the shop, I couldn't help but notice how clean and organized it was. Secondly, the staff was friendly and competent. Needless to say, they knocked it outta the park. I love the look of a American traditional tattoo, and it just so happened that Kyle enjoys tattooing said style. I had some off the wall ideas and Kyle was quick to take it to the next level. i came in two hours before they closed on a sunday and was waiting for an hour to be tended. nobody greeted me when i walked in, asked what i was looking to get done until an hour later. there was one person ahead of me and nobody even bothered to come up to me to ask me about what i wanted done. i then showed a picture of what i wanted to the artist Carlos and he kept making weird faces saying how he was worried about the time and kept sighing saying he's not sure if he can do it. WHICH, i wouldn't have minded had someone come up to me sooner saying it was too detailed of a piece to have done in one day. but, he continued to stall giving me excuses saying there was a big time crunch and what not. he took forever to draft it and the picture he drafted was so blurry not even close to the one i sent him. he then said he's gonna try to get the other artist there to do it because he didn't wanna have to be here too late doing it. the other artist said no and he continued to stall making excuses about the time and originally had said it would be like $400, but as he started to stall and it got a little later he said he could do one bird and if i came back for him to finish the other bird he'd have to up his price to $500 because he'd have to "set up his station again" like wtf does that even mean? is that not part of your job to set up? you're telling me this man was gonna charge me an extra $100 after quoting me a price because he would have to finish the job another day because he was to lazy to start it to begin with and is now trying to charge me more to have to finish another day when that was entirely his fault and everyone in that tattoo place's fault for not coming up to me sooner and just telling me they couldn't do it versus wasting my time and then trying to up charge me to do it a different day. i spent 2 hours there and had to drive an extra hour back home after this and i ended up not getting anything done. i was livid. the workers are lazy, the service is shitty, and don't go to carlos if you're looking to get quality time taken on your pieces. he'll try to pawn it off to someone else then up charge you for not being able to do his own job in a timely manner. f*** ridiculous man. i've had bigger pieces done for $300 in a way shorter time span. insane. do not come here would not recommend read more

*Beware* Like most rent a chair tattoo studios, Little pricks benefits from its rating due to the quality of the tattoo artists work not to the establishment itself. So here's my rant...Regardless of circumstances this place does not, will not refund deposits. I completely understand if someone changes their mind about getting a tattoo but In my circumstance, I had a tattoo artist who I set an appointment with and gave a deposit to, leave little pricks. In the days prior to my appointment I received messages from LITTLE PRICKS confirming my appointment. In Fact Multiple messages confirming my appointment. Then the day of my appointment, when I walk in I'm told my tattoo artists last day was yesterday and I would have to seek her out for my refund. No "Sorry" no "We apologize" just a reasoning of " this happens." Just ridiculous, I did not pay her I paid LITTLE PRICKS regardless if she's there or not the establishment should be responsible when something like this happens. Its frustrating that this is how they do business, I'd like to say that I'm surprised but honestly, I'm not. My husband and I always get a travel tattoo from where ever we are visiting. We like to give the artist free range and come up with something that represents their city but stay with in a 2"x2" (ish) area. We did a little research and found this place. Let me just say that when calling this shop they are the nicest and most helpful tattoo place we have EVER called. I was like talking to a friend. We had no idea what Josiah would come up with. When we got there he came up with such a great idea it was just perfect! He came up with the Congress bridge with the bat coming out at dusk and us paddle boarding under them. We came on August 9th, 2022. My best friend and I wanted to get matching tattoos for our birthdays while visiting Austin. Little Pricks was rated high, and we called to see if they would take walk-in appointment for two. They immediately said yes, and were able to get us in within an hour. Incredibly friendly atmosphere, whether you're new to getting tattoos or not. Luisa Gonzalez was our artist, and was ABSOLUTELY incredible. Received a consult for a $1500 tattoo from Kevin. Consult went good, paid my deposit and was placed on schedule for a few weeks out. After reviewing more of his work and other artists I started to question his ability to provide the art work I wanted with long term results. I asked to pre approve a copyrighted drawing of his artwork at least 2-3 days before my scheduled visit so I could make sure that I was happy. He emailed me back and I was appalled to find out he spends little to no time creating or planning my tattoo. He said that he usually does it the night before or day of. I find this unacceptable. Especially if I get to my appointment and I hate the drawing or it's not like I had wanted. He stated I could just go elsewhere and wasn't concerned about my deposit, my outcomes and didn't refer me out to someone that was a better fit. I was so put off by his response and his lack of planning I canceled. I thought very highly of this place prior and now not so much. I lost $100 for the deposit. read more

I researched a long time to find someone who could create a rather unique tattoo that I had been waiting years to see come to life. I had heard about Kyles line work after doing a lot of research and saw some extremely detailed and amazing work. Kyle was extremely professional walked me through the entire process and his ability to take an envisioned design and not only create it but to add his own unique style as well that produces true personalized works of art. Do not let some of these poor reviews keep you from getting excellent work done from some real artists. It is true that the shop is adult oriented (Really? The name wasn't a clue??) meaning that some adult conversation and joking happens among the staff. But it's that funny banter and great music that makes this place so upbeat and warm and inviting. If you want a place that is more clinical in nature this is not the place for you but if you want a great tattoo you can be proud of in a place that's fun with artists that take the time to understand who you are and the type of art you're looking for then Little Pricks is it. Yes you will need to make an appointment most times as great artists are in demand so no do not expect to just walk in an be seen right then and there. They always address walk ins right away and explain that someone will be with them as soon as possible. If you don't want to wait make an appointment. My tattoo was amazing (full chest and sleeve), Kyle's station was impeccable, and his lines are so well done it's ridiculous. Friendly, great service, reasonably priced! Got a small-ish all black piece and it looks great. The least painful tattoo I've ever gotten by FAR, Zachary had a super light touch. The only real qualm I have is that when I came in, about half of the customers and like 3/4 staff members were not wearing masks. The absence of masks was not the issue, though-- it was the fact that they would be willing to put their clients in a position where they would have to ask them to put one on. If it were even just off for the tattoo and clients kept theirs on, I would get it, as people's glasses get foggy/it's difficult to do precise work with something in your peripheral vision. If any of you are reading this, I'd like to say this-- am I, a healthy 24 year old living alone, afraid of getting covid? Not particularly. In fact, had I known that you guys weren't into enforcing masks on, I may have just gone anyway after weighing my own risks (health, age, ability to reasonably quarantine/avoid accidentally spreading to others). What I did not appreciate was walking in and immediately realizing that I was in a position where if I asked you guys to mask up I would then have to wonder if you were passing judgement on me since I would have clearly been the only one who cared enough to say something. I was also unsure if I would get my deposit back if I had just left and didn't want to ask for the same reason-- I didn't want to sit through a tattoo wondering if you were internally rolling your eyes at me. Regardless of whether or not I was afraid of getting myself sick or other people, I don't owe anyone an explanation, and it doesn't sit right with me that you'd place the burden of enforcing citywide mandates on your customers or at the very least allowing people to make a decision ahead of time about their willingness to spend time in a maskless environment based on their own individual circumstances. Even if you had put a mask on when asked, it would be safe to assume that you've been tattooing people maskless all day. I am unlikely to get seriously ill if I contracted something, but that may not be the case for everyone, and they don't owe you an explanation either. If the no mask thing isn't a dealbreaker for you, then by all means, go. I'd be disingenuous to say that there were any other issues. But I won't be back. :/ read more

me and my boyfriend are from out of state and are visiting my family here in texas and every where we travel together, are starting to get little tattoos from where we've gone. we called for a walk in to which they were able to accommodate us. upon arrival we were met by Casey. after he sized up our stencil he communicated that he was more than happy to resize as many times as we wanted to make sure we were ok with the size to begin with which is nice as i asked for mine to be a little bigger and never at any point did i feel like an inconvenience even for something as small as resizing the stencil. after he set his station up, placed the stencil and again, communicated that he was more than happy to move the stencil as many times to make sure we got it right. he got to work and was an all around good vibe and personable artist. he constantly checked in making sure i was good and did the same for my boyfriend (even though he's blasted and this was only my second tattoo) all in all, Casey's cool and next time we're in town and wanna get a tattoo we know where and who we're going to. thank you Casey!! read more

Went last weekend to get a custom piece done by Travis. This was my second time at Little Pricks, the first one just being a quick addition of UV ink to an existing chest piece. So I was excited to get some original ink. I gave Travis a bit of a challenge for the design, asking him to marry two versions of the same character together. I wanted to get the feel of the original Disney Cheshire Cat with the coloration of the new Tim Burton character. It was a great collaborative effort, with him working up the concept, accepting a few small tweaks that I asked for, and once in the shop asking for my color preference, etc. but offering his expertise on what would and wouldn't work. I wasn't even sure if it was possible to do what I wanted but he came up with a concept I loved. Ultimately, of course, you need to put your trust into the artist to bring the artistic vision you've created together to life, and Travis went above and beyond in that regard. The shading, coloring, and saturation of my tattoo is brilliant, and it healed cleanly and evenly. There were no overworked or injured areas that I noticed, and I'm thrilled with the final product. I'd definitely recommend Travis and his work. I had 5 people stop me in the airport the next day to comment on the tattoo, and another 4 since that day. I already wrote a stellar review for this place for my first large piece but my original artist was on leave when I was ready to do more work so I was told by a client that Travis Buchart was amazing (especially at geometric work and American Traditional but he's incredibly versatile) so I wanted to write a new review on my experience with him. He was OUTSTANDING. By far the best artist I've ever worked with. Hands down. Light handed, super fast, and I gave him creative control of most of it and he SLAYED it. He stayed super late because I could barely keep still through the outline and it took twice as long as it should have and a lot of artists would have just done the minimum in color and shading to leave as it was 100% my fault I held up the process, but my finished piece was GORGEOUS. So, so much more beautiful than I originally envisioned. He was fun, open, super nice and he kills straight line work. His talent is unquestionable and he has 10+ years experience which is a major plus when choosing an artist. Buckle up this is a long one but they deserve the praise... so my first tattoo was a terrible experience (out of state) and my first touch up on it at Atomic Tattoo was uncomfortable and although I was happy with the touch up I felt like they didn't take me seriously and had no desire to continue working with the artist. When I decided I wanted another piece I did a lot of research and settled on Tita Jewels. At first I was frustrated because I struggled to get a hold of anyone at the shop so eventually I came in for a consultation. I think it's super critical to anyone considering coming to LP to know that you must come in person for a consultation. Be prepared to wait to meet with an artist. It could take 20-40min because an artist will meet with you when they take a break from a tattoo or finish it. As someone getting a tattoo I appreciative this because I wouldn't want my artist starting and stopping several times to talk to people. I have since had 2 pieces done by Tita Jewels, she is absolutely worth the wait. She and everyone else at the shop made me feel super comfortable. You don't feel like your being spoken down to because you aren't heavily tattooed like I've felt at other shops. Also, Tita generally doesn't have the sketch finished when you arrive, she will take pictures of the area and work with you to make any adjustments. Expect the first 30min to an hour to be waiting/discussing the piece and making any changes. When my husband decided he wanted his first tattoo he wanted to explore his options we went to several shops one that completely ignored us (good times tattoo), another (freedom machine) turned down his idea saying no one would do it because if you "can't find the same tattoo on google chances are it's because it isn't going to be a good tattoo" so when we came to LP after other shops and spoke with Josiah after checking out his Instagram it was clear that LP was again the place we wanted to be. He was genuinely excited to tattoo a flower he's never seen before and worked extensively with my husband to incorporate several elements in to a piece without it looking busy or jumbled. He was a joy to work with and the tattoo turned out amazing. I also want to compliment Kyle, although I haven't had work from him, I've seen him very gently let someone know their idea on paper wouldn't translate well and make suggestions on how he could do it and still keep the concept. I've been to shops where they just flat out refuse without making suggestions and it's disheartening. I have no doubt this will be where I continue to come and where I will always recommend to others. read more

First time here was for the shops flash Friday the 13th tattoo special (basically a set of flash tattoos you can choose from for $13 with mandatory tip of $7 - its a great deal!). What better way to be introduced to a NEW shop (for me at least) and meet a NEW tattoo artist. I received great care and acknowledgement from Tita as I arrived to place my name on the list to be tatt'd. I was helped by Tita even though there were 2 other artists in the shop. Perhaps because it was a Friday and the shop had several people coming in and out to inquire about the special and maybe Tita was the only artist handling these tattoos/people. I got a bit of a cold shoulder from the other 2 guys but that did not deter me away from staying and seeing what Tita could do. She ended up tattooing me and was such a pleasure to talk to and get to know as she got me situated and all done up with a pretty pink elephant paired with a 13. :) Shop was very clean and had a nice waiting area (seats comfortably 4) and is riiiiight next door to Noble Pig (yummy!). Parking can be a pain but be sure to check you are not parking in the dry cleaning or cell phone or gas station spots. You will be towed! Thank you Tita!
