    Pho Dat Biet

TLDR: Pho was good; service was good; would recommend. Dish: Pho Dat Biet during lunch Atmosphere: Rustic Staff: Friendly, pleasant Food: - More traditional Vietnamese (ie. not fusion, hipster, etc). - Pho soup was beefy and flavourful but strangely not very aromatic. - Beef tendons and tripe was nice. - Good large size. Improvements: - They should separate the sauces (chilli and hoisin was together) - not everyone likes spicy stuff. - Some of the noodles were clumped together into balls of noodles - they should be individual strands and separated.

With so many Vietnamese restaurants in Adelaide, it's hard to fine the best one. Though in my opinion NNQ would have to be at the top of the list. Like its main store, Little NNQ provides top quality authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a modern setting. I usually eat the combination pho, which I would say is spot on. The broth is flavoursome and blends extremely well with the meats brightly about a wholesome rich aroma that can only be described at heavenly. The meats are always well cooked and serving is extremely generous. In addition, the bun bo hue at NNQ is my favourite in Adelaide. It is a complicated dish to make as the amount of spices has to be just right. I would say that NNQ's BBH comes to near perfection. It's been consistently good each time. Overall, it's difficult to find the perfect pho. Each restaurants makes their pho differently and if you are an avid pho lover, it's best to keep searching for your own personal favourite. Though if you want the perfect pho, you have to go to rural Vietnam where it originated.

Ha'noi pho - pretty damned good

Exposed brick, vietnamese newspapers on the walls, and modern aluminium lighting - the hip fit-out is balanced by wooden condiment utensils/bowls and organic-looking crockery. It comes together to give a cozy but well put-together feel - a place you could linger for a drink or two after a warming bowl of pho, or a vermicelli salad, depending on the season. I visited in winter, so selected a bowl of Han'oi beef pho for lunch. The menu is modest, to say the least - less than two-dozen choices - but they get it just right. It's a welcome change from the choice paradox that too many menus present - pho; noodle salads; rice dishes; a couple of 'stews' to boot. The dinner menu is similarly restrained, but the drinks menu offers plenty of wines, a good range of boutique beer, as well as cocktails by the glass or carafe (hello, summer!) The food is authentic and served promptly. Wait-staff were a little thin on the ground when on this particular Sunday afternoon, but that's pretty much par-for-the-course for Adelaide. Pricing is very competitive - comparable to Western suburbs Vietnamese joints, at $11 for more pho than I could eat. It's a great little spot - my pick for Vietnamese in the city.

This would of received the full 5 stars but the staff were pretty busy and forgot a few things along the way, which I actually don't mind too much and working in retail can understand how that Happens. Food was fantastic again. This is the second time I've come here and will continue to make this a regular place I visit. The group of 7 of us shared sugarcane prawn cold rolls. Rice paper Spring rolls. Scotch fillet and watercress. Lemongrass and chilli pork belly chicken curry and fried rice. Every dish was amazing and service I found friendly and attentive enough but as stated before just forgot a few things along the way with a busy Sunday lunch rush. Love this place guys.

A friend referred us to little NNQ and I was a lil hesitant to go thinking it would be very fine dine and little did we know that the food is not only good but affordable as well. Not only taste but quantity to every dish was also good. Staff was courteous and prompt. Tried one of the cocktails also and was good too

Great looking place. I came here a year ago and it was good but this time around 3 of the 4 courses we had (mussels, oysters, steak 'stir fry' were all drowned in this thick salty soy base sauce. The other dish was drowned in sweet chilli. Nothing like the way they presented the food last time we came. It was presented on the plate nicely. Even the bugs were barely recognisable.

    Review Highlights - Little NNQ

A spin-off of the NNQ in Ferryden Park (now moved to Woodville), I prefer the signature of the cooks here.

This place is packed (as in a large line) from 11.45am to about 12.30pm - for good reason! I only come for the noodle salad (with a choice of three meats: pork belly, honey chicken and grilled chicken, but I'm told the banh mi is awesome! Cold rolls are also on the menu. Despite the large lineup they churn through the customers with great efficiency, exactly what's needed when you're on a limited time lunch break.

It's fairly common to see a line out the door when you get close to MM on James Place, busy as is the majority of food businesses down JP. But don't fear! The turnover is high yes, but the wait is not long and the quality of food/service doesn't suffer for it. A pretty standard fare for a vietnamese banh mi joint, i always go for either roast pork or lemongrass chicken but they also have honey chicken or tofu. When i first started going here i baulked at their interpretation of 'extra hot chilli', but it seems they've upped their game and you can now get a decent heat kick if you so desire (and i do always desire it hot hot hot!) Plenty of tasty options for all at a great price and reasonably quick to serve...what more could one ask for?! Get on it!

Banh mi and service review only:…read more A combination of factors has set me in a slightly off mood today (Mondayitis!), so I'm trying to be generous. Little Hanoi (LH) and I have a past. A few months ago it was recommended as a great place to go for a cheeky banh mi, no fuss but worth a look. So I did. And the first one was actually pretty good from memory. But the 2nd, 3rd and now 4th time I've given LH a go I've been a bit disappointed. I actually walked right past LH on my way to Bread Temptations in Topham Mall because I'd heard good things, but, contrary to the advice on Yelp (!) Bread Temptations do not accept credit cards :-/ So I wandered back...also back past Soonta...which I think will be my next Banh Mi port of call. LH is OK, but what you get for the price charged, there are better Banh Mi being made in the CBD. Service: Is usually OK. Not that it takes forever to whip up a Banh Mi, so it's fairly quick. Banh mi: There are plenty of other options at LH besides banh mi, so maybe if you were to give LH a go, perhaps get a pho or something else. The banh mis are average at best. The rolls were soft. Not that this is always a bad thing, but I do prefer a nice crumbly, crunchy roll. Seems to carry the rest of the textures well. The meat was cold (again, not always a bad thing but I much prefer a bit of warmth) and there wasn't much packed in there at all. Slightly crunchy pork, but more fatty than crunchy, and the chicken was just...meh. Salad portion was all carrot, virtually no cucumber. The use of the sriracha sauce is one of the only redeeming factors. This roll is on par with the Daily Choice roll I had last week. But a dollar more. I, therefore, must continue my trek to find my new regular banh mi joint in the CBD. Update to come if I go back and get the pho!

I should preface this review by saying that it's based on both their rolls and salads. If I was…read morejust reviewing their salads it may be higher. I first went here when searching for an alternative to Bahn Mi. I got a roll and was underwhelmed. The roll itself was dry and the pork was quite fatty, the carrot and cucumber were somewhat scarce. The use of Sriracha sauce instead of fresh chilli was also a disappointment. I gave them the benefit of the doubt hoping that things would improve, to no avail. After not going here for a while I walked by a couple of months ago and was pleasantly surprised to see the quality of pork had improved. I gave them another go and got a salad this time. What an improvement. The lettuce, cucumber and carrot were so fresh, the pork was great and the addition of coriander and crushed peanuts were great. This standard is now consistently maintained. I am now a regular visitor and recommend their salads to my colleagues who are also impressed.
