    combo platter without lettuce

Picture of my plate: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ub5J358mZgaFkWFd7DmDBA?userid=ZXj26FqdOGR24p65c_KIrg After reading so many positive reviews from food bloggers, I decided to give the place a shot. My combo platter for only $5 was alright I suppose... I liked the following: 1) tasty chicken: juicy and good flavor 2) tasty lamb: juicy and good flavor 3) surprise french fries: nice touch! Finding them inside gives you that "must-be-my-lucky-day" feeling... I didn't like the following: 1) weak hot sauce: I'm not a fan! It had all the things I can't stand in a hot sauce; thick, smokey , and weak in general. At first the unique flavor was good, but then the novelty wore off and i was stuck with that nasty crap... 2) the takeout box: they use a sketchy box where the perimeter is wider than the center. I'm not a fan of such food cart tactics where the perceived amount of food seems more than the actual... Note the following: 1) I did not use white sauce 2) it took me 30 minutes to get home to enjoy my meal The summary: In general it was OK i guess because the chicken was really good when a lot of the other carts are dried out. But without a good hot sauce, it's somewhat uneventful. Most likely I'll be going to 53rd and 6th sometime later this week to redeem myself...

    Combo Platter ($5.00)

Little Morocco has returned finally to the north-east corner of 39th St and 7th Ave. As soon as I heard the good news, I knew I had to come here and try it out. Although I heard good things of the Fish over Rice ($5.00), I was a bit hesitant, coming from a food cart, so I ordered the Combo Platter ($5.00). I kept knocking myself over the head as I heard a few people ordering the fish, but after watching the gentleman prepare my meal, I was captivated with taste buds salivating at all the different items thrown into my platter. What I got was a bed of yellow basmati rice thrown across the whole bottom of the tray. Mixed with the rice was sweet corn, peas, string beans, and these very small bitter peppercorn-like balls (one Yelper commented they were cardamom seeds). The rice was a bit bland, but I didn't mind as there were so many other flavors from the meat and sauces going on. Salad consisting of crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, cucumber, dill, cilantro, and a standard white sauce was thrown on top on 1/4 of the platter (big plus as so many other carts make the mistake of filling half the platter with plain and boring lettuce and tomato). The other 3/4 were filled with lamb and chicken. Portions were not the most generous, but again, with all the other stuff you get with it, it can easily go unnoticed. I was afraid that the lamb and chicken wasn't going to taste good as I watched the gentleman take the precooked proteins from metal trays and tossed on the grill for reheating, but they actually stood up fairly well. The chicken was tender and spiced well, while the lamb had a decent amount of seasoning making for a salty but delicious-like sausage. Yum! But it doesn't end there! Thrown on top of the meat were sauteed chickpeas, onions and very soft string beans topped with a light green/white colored sauce mixed with minced cilantro leaves. Delicious!! You didn't think it ended there? I was also surprised to receive a large potato ball that reminded me of a spinach knish, soft and potatoey inside, yum. To top off this garbage plate of food, I also asked for hot sauce which had a tart flavor and packed some heat. Little Morocco ain't so little in my book anymore, and it deserves more credit than it has been receiving. I really enjoyed the Combo Platter. If only they prepared their chicken fresh off the grill and lamb off the doner kebab, this cart would surely shine. I will definitely have to come back soon to try their fish over rice platter, which seems to be the go-to dish at this cart.

The platter comes with perfectly seasoned chicken over rice, along with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. I got the famous white sauce and hot sauce on the side so I could add as much as I wanted, and both took the dish to the next level. The chicken was flavorful, tender, and paired perfectly with the rice. The portion was generous and incredibly filling, making it an excellent value. Everything tasted fresh, and I honestly enjoyed every bite. That said, it was so good I could probably eat two platters! The line was long, but don't let that discourage you it moved steadily and was absolutely worth the wait. Whether you're a local or just visiting NYC, this is one of those iconic spots you have to experience at least once. it!

I don't go as much as I use to, as the price has more than doubled since 2017/18. However, that has nothing to do with my rating. My problem is that meats have gone downhill. I used to love gyro meat - never sure what it was exactly lamb or beef - but now it is just gross and greasy. The chicken which used to be excellent is now very dry. The white sauce is great and the rice is fine, but that is it. Not worth getting anymore. Maybe one of their competitors is better, can't really be worse.

The flavors were bold, authentic, and the chicken skin was silky smooth. The cucumbers had a nice crunch and the veggies as well. They give you two sauces, one of them is spicy and might be hotter than you expect so try it first.

White sauce is added on top and other sauces (hot sauce, BBQ, and green sauce) are packed in small plastic containers and available to take on the side. I really enjoyed the food here; it was fresh and tasted better than most Halal carts in the city. There's a bit of a wait, but it's worth it! Service: Service is nothing special; there are many people cooking and 1-2 staff members taking orders. This halal cart opens at 6pm every day, and a line starts forming along the sidewalk well before 6pm. There were about 20 people ahead of us in line, and we waited for a total of 40-45 minutes before it was our turn. Once it's your turn, your order comes out pretty quickly. Ambiance: This cart is located on 6th avenue and 49th Street diagonal from Radio City Music Hall. The cart itself doesn't have any seating, but there are many tables and chairs directly across from the cart that are open to the public. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this spot!

PRO TIP: (as others have said): Long lines here yes, but you can skip most of it if you just order ahead for pickup from GrubHub, as they have TWO carts here - a new cart dedicated for these online orders, and their original cart for walk-up orders with the longer line.

You're at a food court. With some luck you can snag a seat and chow down but office lunchers will probably just head back to their desk. Was told that the fish was super crispy so I got that with fried rice. Purposely asked questions in Canto to let them know I'm with the home team. Fried rice is made to order and it's actually decent. Food comes out piping hot. The fish is covered with a thick breading that reminds me of the frozen breaded tilapia from Trader Joe. It's a big serving (ended up with enough left over for a second meal) but you'll have to work thru that breading. On its own it has pretty much no flavor but it comes with a black pepper sauce that you'll need. The sauce is weirdly thick but along with the thick breading the fish will stay crispy.
