Not fine dining per se but an exceptionally fine experience that makes the hike to Salem County…read moreentirely worth the petrol. A cozy, picturesque location offers a "greatest hits" liquor-first menu of burgers, steaks, chops with Asian-fusion afterburners. Certainly not what I was expecting but I really liked the mash-up. In an age of overly weened, focus group inspired restaurant concepts, there's always a place for a true original. Five easy stars for the Lake House.

The view and atmosphere and 5/5, absolutely beautiful…read more The people who gave this anything over a 2/5 have no conception of what good food is supposed to be: so please be mindful of reading 5/5 reviews as their drone/bot/npc opinion means nothing to those who have that appreciation and understanding of what good food is supposed to be. If you're someone looking for an elevated dining experience, namely entrees and appetizers that don't taste like bland sysco/big distributor bundles, this is not the place for you. If they are not using big distributors, then they have bigger issues to worry about because the food is honestly not good and overpriced; one shouldn't pay that much money for inferior food. The "brown butter" gnocchi dish was a 4/10 and seemed out of place with the other items on the confusing menu (no real theme or pattern to the food offered). The service was horrendous too, in case you were wondering. To the owner or managers who should have/should be doing this: go sit at every table and order food if the menu; notice the little problems at each: the chairs being too narrow on the patio (i'm not even a chud so idk how heavier folks manage this), the tables being not level, the soggy Caesar salads and appetizers falling off the cheap plates that are too small/the wrong shape for the food item....get a notepad and write down the issues. Little things like this influence your guests stay and experience and it is not difficult to fix them. There is such potential at this place and the owners need to get better, elevated, and high quality items on the menu with real chefs to see it through. I would not recommend this place to anyone, but if you're a bot you'll love it.

We were in town for a soccer tournament this weekend and stopped in with 3 adults and two 18 year…read moreold players. When we sat down, they gave us a menu that said soccer menu on it. the menu was filled with things like chicken fingers and mozza sticks. We asked if we could order off the regular menu and the waitress said no. If your here with a soccer player, that is your only option. The menu was filled with food for kids so we wanted to see the other menu. I guess the waitress got frustrated and maybe pegged us as city folk and said, " what do you want.,, salads?" nah lady we just wanted to see what else you offered. I love a good dive bar and the parents were ready to put down some beers but instead we got up and left because the waitress seemed annoyed by us because we didn't want to eat chicken fingers. Trying being nice to strangers and you'd make a fortune on tournament weeks. Plus the snotty remark about salads just shows your ignorance, we weren't from a woke city and wanted to run up a tab. don't judge a book by its cover.

I like how they put salt and pepper on the fries - most spots don't go the pepper route too but I dig it. Bacon was crispy and the cheese was melty - perfect grilled cheese. My bartender Ashley was awesome. Super attentive and fun to talk to. They take cards, including Amex. I'll definitely be back to try some other stuff on the menu.

"Bangin chicken cheesesteak" - really good. The bangin sauce was like a tai chilli, but it really worked.

Their steaks are amazing to the point you need no steak sauce. Their steaks steak sauce doesn't do it credit. I love that it's a historical place and you can see it through the building. Perfect for that romantic dinner with your significant other. The only downside I see, but not their fault, is that booking a reservation can be a bit of work. They book out quick and weeks out. Once see come visit them, you will understand why they book out rapidly. I'm looking forward to coming around soon.

Where to start? Small room with three tables where everyone's conversation is overheard. Bread,…read moresoups, crab cakes, salads delicious. Pacing started ok then went downhill with limited check backs and ended with no check backs for dessert or if check was desired. After 30 to 40 minutes had to track down waiter and told him no desserts were now wanted (We were going to order the bread pudding). He took a steak to box up and came back several times to attend to the other tables and no boxed up steak. Finally came back. Most disturbing was that two prime ribs were ordered rare and this was a 5:15 seating and came to the table full on medium. Cap completely grey and balance barely pink on both. How could they not serve rare this early in the evening? The waiter took them away and promised to bring back two rare entrees. We declined and ordered different entrees as our spouses ate their meals. Instead he brought the same ones back and said that's all they had. Literally a few minutes later I saw other rooms being served six or seven beautifully rare prime ribs. I asked how that could be and he said the chef wouldn't carve a roast for our order and we would have to finish the older roast regardless of rare roasts available in the kitchen. I have never seen such poor service and disregard for customers at a restaurant claiming to be of superior caliber. No offer to comp meals or even free dessert. I still tipped him well although I wonder if I should have. I haven't written a review in quite awhile but this was something I feel should be shared if you're considering this place. It's not easy to get to and I may not be worth the trip if this is how you're treated. We've been here several times before and each time it slips a little bit more. Likely won't be back.
