The teachers were great, but I would not send your child here if they struggle with nap time or have an IEP since they are not trained to work with such behaviors/needs. We faced many challenges within a short amount of time that resulted with removal from care. We were not informed fast enough to get her team at school on board or to help correct the situation due to lack of communication. The facility is clean, but there are some major concerns that happened with my child that made me feel she was unwanted and that the staff had no training in handling kids with certain needs. There was also high turnover with staff and unfortunately the staff members that worked best with our child were gone. read more

My daughter's "teacher", and I use that term lightly, laid hands on my daughter and left a significant bruise. When I finally heard from the owner 3 days later at 5:00pm, she accused me of causing the bruise on my daughter's arm. If I were the owner of a daycare establishment and I was notified of suspected abuse against one of my employees, I would be on the phone immediately with the parent and the teacher in question. This was not the case for this owner. She was more worried about the outcome of the investigation because that would mean she would loose a full-tuition paying child. But believe you me, the day that "teacher" laid hands on my daughter was her last day of attendance there because there was no need for an investigation when we had the "teacher's" story of grabbing my daughter and my daughter's story of the "teacher" grabbing her. Please seek other daycare centers unless you want your child to just be viewed as a dollar sign in the eyes of the owner. read more

I'm not a person to write a bad review, so obviously, I needed this off my chest. The Director I spoke to on our tour was amazing but when I went to talk with her the other day, she was gone. I have also noticed that other teachers are not there anymore. They had such a nice place, running smoothly and everyone seemed to be happy. Very good teachers also. I was going to apply to work there but after I learned what the owner pays, I said nope. Not even minimum wage, or even close to it. It's sad to hear that those hard working ladies, basically the second mother to these kids, can't afford anything. Can't afford to fill their tank up, can't afford food for their own children and can't even afford the care for their children. They work for free in other words. Now, we paid $100 to register, a few weeks later another $75, then in august another $75 along with a tuition increase. I was told "everything is going up, we are in a pandemic". It shouldn't be about the money, if the owner really had a heart, but about the children. Don't make the children look like $$ dollar signs. We have been an extra income for the owner for some time now this year. From the day we toured until this current day, the center has gone down hill so much. Class sizes are smaller(not a bad thing) but because of families leaving due to bad management and tuition issues. I've overheard plenty of other parents questioning what is going on. I've heard the owner is rude to her employees and threatens them all the time. I've also been informed that the classrooms are never in ratio. I asked one day why so many kids and only one teacher? I asked how many kids can she have alone, because it was very busy and she looked stressed, she told me but she had more than that number. That's not safe at all and totally illegal. My child has been coming home with marks from anything you could think of. Falling, another child hitting, biting, punching etc... Why? Doesn't the staff watch the children? Well it's probably hard when you're one person watching way too many kids. Although they have a curriculum notebook for each kid,( was told on my tour about it) I have yet to see or informed of these being used. I also have the app but barely get pictures of my child. It's just disappointing when you think your children are in the safest, best educational program place ever, but in all reality, the place is just a rip off. No learning done at this academy. We are leaving the Academy, soon. It's just not a good fit for us anymore. I wish the owner didn't have so much turn over either. If you can't keep your employees, you might need to look at the bigger picture. You! I don't think they deserve any stars. read more

My child had attended Little Learners this past year, within the past week we had removed her from the daycare facility. Reason for removing her from this daycare is from many occasions of neglect and improper care of a child from so-called professional people of this daycare facility. My child was a baby in the infant section. I had spoken to the director on many occasions about the treatment or should I say the non treatment my daughter was receiving. To name a few, my daughter came home with a horrible rash that seemed as if she had not changed for many hours, this rash took many days to go away and my poor baby suffered during this time. Another time we picked her up and she had boogers so badly she could not even breathe out of her nose. Another time her clothes were dirty from the floors that they are allowing children to crawl around on. Another time my daughter did NOT get fed her food that was sent with her that day just to name a few. After all of these poor abusive neglect of a child the director still did not make it right. This facility also went through many child care providers as they were quitting due to how they were being treated, so just think how the children feel. She said she would talk to the child care providers but I did not see any change. The director of this facility must oversee and direct her child care providers to ensure that ALL children are receiving the proper care. I would not refer Little Learners to anyone to assure you I will share the unprofessional and neglect that children receive at this facility. read more

RASIST ASS DAYCARE! Even if your child isn't African American I wouldn't send this to this poor school. They falsely charged me MULTIPE TIMES. My son had had multiple rashes from them not changing him in a timely manner. All the kids there nose are always running. They told me my child had to be removed after I reported a incident where a teacher snatched a toy from my child. The director "Mr.Krista" stated she was going to call me multiple times then I go into the office cause she hasn't and tells me my child can no longer attend here. They also let my child leave with his father without checking his ID then called me asking did I know him AFTER they had already let him leave. They don't know what there doing here and have a bunch of kid as workers. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

Highly recommend this facility!!! Ever since my son has been here he has excelled. He is so much farther in his skills now than most of his peers. Ms. Melissa, My children spend 7 or 8 hours at Little Learners at Channahon for seven months, that's plenty of time to know how your daycare works. My older son and my twins went to Goddard School also, I got daily reports of the menu and what they ate, if they went potty or if diapers got change, details and pictures of their activities and what they were learning. The owners are very kind and caring. At Little Learners my husband wasn't given any feedback at pick up time, except the bags of clothes with pee or worse, and I didn't have any information of how the kids were doing during the day while I was at work. My children also go to the park district, my 4 year olds have the same teacher that my 7 year old had. Those teachers are so sweet and caring, they've been there for a long time, you can tell they enjoy their jobs. Like I said my kids have 4 different teachers at Little Learners and sometimes just aids while you found new teachers. I just think you need to improve the quality of your service for the benefit of the families your institutions takes care of, instead of going after the families that are already enrolled. And have better conditions for your teachers, so you can actually keep the good ones. read more

They don't even deserve 1 star. They are scam artists. Beware. I received state aid and they would lie to the state and tell them my son attended more days than he actually attended to receive more money. Then weeks after I took my son out of their care, they tried to tell me I owed them a ton more money. I have spent months trying to work out how it is possible to owe them money when I paid every payment and received state aid. Not only that, but 2 months after ending our contract while in constant contact with them trying to go over all of this, (I put in the appropriate 2 weeks notice and paid all of my tuition and our contract had ended) They tried to charge my card without any authorization and are now trying to charge me an extra $35 fee on a payment they had no authorization to charge. I have multiple statements where they have changed the cost and changed payment amounts. I even have a statement showing they over charged days to the state. I will be reporting them to the state for fraud and contacting my attorney to handle them trying to charge my card without authorization. The staff there are very nice but the owners only care about a paycheck, they do not care about the kids. read more

My 4 year old son was enrolled in the pre-k program here from October to March. He is currently at home because of the shelter in place. We are looking forward to enrolling him in preschool here. Our experience so far has been great. He is very comfortable here and has lots of good things to say about his teachers. The curriculum and program for pre-k engages him and he is excited about things he has learned and projects he has made. Definitely highly recommend for anyone looking for childcare! read more

We visited the open house and everything looked perfect, close to our home, friendly, we decided to sign our child up. However, over the past few months our concerns have grown. All of which were addressed with the Director as they happened, before finally removing him. Our son has come home with bite marks (in fairness, our son has also bit other children) and we were sometimes notified, sometimes not. Although, we were called in to have a meeting, with the owner directly, in which the lasting impression from the meeting was, that if he bit, he was not welcome. I would have thought that the impression would have been that we really care WHY he is biting and what is it that we all can do to alleviate this from happening. Most, if not all, kids at some point will bite...The question is why. Every day there is a report of the daily activities. This includes diaper changes, food eaten, the theme of the day, and any activities they may have done. Multiple times there have been items recorded, that could not have happened. For example, his diaper was changed at 7:30 am, but we didn't drop him off until 8:15. Or, that he was changed at 4:30, yet I'm there picking him up at 4pm. This makes one think that these reports are pre-filled out, or just don't pay attention, or they are acting like robots (mentioned again below)... The next few are the reasons we pulled him out. Our son is in Speech Therapy (likely the biting issue mentioned above, not being able to express himself) and our therapist needed to visit the daycare to make up some extra days that she would be missing. As a child care professional, we value her opinion very much! We were advised that as a child care professional, it is her opinion that we should start looking for a new facility as soon as possible. As a mother, she suggested we pull our son out immediately! Her reasoning; When eating, our son asked for more food both verbally and using sign language. Instead of getting more food, what was left in front of him was immediately taken away. (Please note that he is 2, if hes hungry, he should be fed) When playing with a toy, another kid came over and took it from him. Our son was punished by being put in the "thinking chair", for yelling at the other child. The other child was left to play. It was mentioned by the Therapist that the children do not have individual spaces, which allowed this type of behavior to continue, and that the teachers and aids typically only seen half of the situation. (In this case, the teacher heard the yelling, but did not see the stealing of the toy) During nap time, our child is put in the corner by himself near the music speaker, when others are grouped together. (I was later explained on why by the director, which included our child not falling asleep right away. As this was a concern of the therapists, I'm not sure I buy the reasoning) Overall, the teachers and aids are more like robots, there only for a paycheck and not showing the care that we as parents expect. (It needs to be noted that during the conversation I had with the Director, she stated this is not the first time the word "robot" has been used to describe some of the employees) Demeaning the children. It was noted that the Director stated to one crying boy, "shut up, its not your mom". There are more items that the therapist mentioned, but by now you get the point. The final reasons are all reasons to pull a child out of a preschool. But, the fact that these all happened in front of an individual that is not normally there, makes one wonder what is happening when an outsider is not in viewing site. I want to mentioned that our Therapist did not recommend any other child care facilities (indicating that she may have been paid by one for recommendations). Upon learning of the last items (and deciding to remove our child), I immediately contacted the Director, in person, and had a good, calm, conversation. She assured me that she would look into each and every issue. It also needs to be said that the contract states we will provide a two week notice before removing a child. We did not provide the two week notice, and after meeting with the director, who states she has direction from the owner, we have been informed that we are still required to pay the final two weeks as we did not give them a chance to fix the new issues. We were given the option of leaving our son there for the final two weeks, but we believe this is not an option. It should also be noted that our son has both had tonsil/ear tube surgery and has broken his arm. I mentioned this because we did pay for 3 weeks, that he did not attend, as required by the contract. We will pay the two weeks' worth of child care as we did not provide notice. But, this shows me that they are really more concerned with revenue, than addressing the real issues that they have at their daycare/preschool. I have very high standards when it comes to my kids' education. I looked at many schools before choosing Little Learners. I highly recommend Little Learners. My daughter absolutely loves going to school. Her teachers are great and make learning fun. I couldn't be more pleased with the curriculum. read more

Working with children is a passion of mine. Working with great coworkers is a bonus. I love coming to work knowing I can make a difference out of a child's life, simply by helping them learn. Our daughter has been to 3 different Preschools over the last year and a half. The third time was truly the charm! She loves going to school every day and when she comes home and we ask her how school was, every time her response is "Great"! She has come a long way in the 3 months she has been there (we were worried whether she would be ready for Kindergarten) and now has gained a great passion for school. Ms. Katie, Ms. Jen and Ms. Theresa are all phenomenal with the kids. They all care about each and every one of their students. They are on top of everything the students need to know to be ready for Kindergarten and are fully prepared to give the students the tools they need to have a successful Kindergarten year. Anyone looking for a preschool that will prepare your child for Kindergarten, this is the place for you! read more
