I certainly understand all the concerns with COVID but if you are on the fence about coming here, I can assure you that they do everything possible to keep the place clean and safe. Masks are required for everyone, they are constantly wiping down every surface, the changing rooms are cleaned between each use, temperatures are checked upon entry, etc. They don't cut any corners!

Our managers, Mary and Natalia, are the two most caring and helpful people you will ever meet. Their doors are always open if you have a quick question or need assistance with anything. The energy walking into work everyday was so high and it kept reminding me what a phenomenal place this is to work. You will never meet co-workers like them; these are the people who made coming into work everyday so enjoyable. If you enjoy working with kids this is the place to be. As a Swim Instructor you will find such joy in seeing a child progress throughout the weeks, and knowing that you were apart of that just makes it that much more enjoyable. This review pertains to a period of time, pre-pandemic, when my son attended Crème de la Crème in…read moreWestmont. Be warned - my son nearly died as a result. If it weren't for the life support he received during the week he spent in a pediatric ICU, he would have died. We didn't know what we were doing in terms of picking out a daycare. There were several baby swings and chairs in the infant room at Crème de la Crème, which should have been a major "no go" sign, but we did not know. There was only one teacher assigned to the infant room. Another "no go" sign, but we did not know. We really liked that teacher, though, and let's face it - all of the other daycares had wait lists of ~6-12 months. Crème de la Crème had no waitlist - we thought we were in luck (although that is not how it panned out), so we signed him up for Crème de la Crème. The problem is that each day, in the mid-afternoon, all babies in the infant room were moved into a "catch all" room with ALL OF THE OTHER KIDS (possibly including kids in the after-school program - I am not sure about that, though - might have been only the daycare kids). So our son caught RSV, norovirus, enterovirus, and maybe a few other things ALL AT ONCE. That is too much for a 6-month old to handle and he would have died were it not for the excellent pediatric ICU in Naperville. He still wheezes and we need to have albuterol on hand at all times. The doctors predict that the resulting lung damage will last for many years. We obviously did not send him back to Crème de la Crème when he got out of the hospital. All of this occurred years ago, before the pandemic, and it could be that Crème de la Crème no longer puts the infants into the "catch all" room. Please dig into this with Crème de la Crème before sending an infant there. More to consider: We never spoke of Crème de la Crème with that child. When I was pregnant with our second, I asked our first if there was anything we did during his first years that he liked and we should be sure to do with our second child. He said, "No" - gotta love kids.... I then asked him if there was anything we did wrong that we should be sure not to do again. He said, emphatically, "Do not send him to that school where they just put you in a chair all day!" His experience at Crème de la Crème was so bad that he remembered it years later, even though he attended only from 4-6 months of age. Later I came across a picture of him (in a chair, of course) at Crème de la Crème. I showed it to him. He confirmed that it was the "bad" school, and asked why the "big kids who would run by and kick him" were not in the photo. We did know that something was wrong while the child was attending Crème de la Crème. Each day, he was dead behind the eyes when we picked him up. It took about an hour of interacting with him for him to start communicating with us again (by smiling, etc. - he typically had a ready smile at that age). We were already trying to get him into a different daycare when he fell ill. This is a much-delayed PSA. I should have written it years ago, but I really did not want to relive it. I don't want other babies to suffer, though, so here it is. My son's experience was not due to a single teacher, or even a group of teachers, who might have been replaced since then. It happened because the infants were thrown into a room with all the other kids mid-afternoon, to stay until picked up - as late as 6:30 pm. That is hours and hours of exposure to illness and abuse from the older kids, evidently with inadequate supervision. Edited to add: I appreciate the response from Crème de la Crème. I will call when I have the time to do so. My husband and I have very time-consuming jobs, hence the need for daycare. I also need to build up the mental strength to withstand another psychological re-living of the near death of our first child at 6 months of age. Writing the above review was traumatic enough. I swear that it is all true, that I have provided in the review all of the information that seems to be pertinent (other than perhaps the name of the teacher in the infant room at the time, but I do not believe that she was the direct cause of any of the negative experiences detailed in the review), and that my only nexus with Crème de la Crème was the ~2 months that my son was enrolled there.

I've always been on edge with the safety curccumstances due to my child's teachers are constantly changed with no notice, no introduction and with the Director leaving who gave me so much comfort I have had enough. They have very poor communication skills and never have answers to anything I ask. This greatly effects my child as they are always confused , never know their teachers names and sometimes mornings are so rough because they refuse to go. The very first day they arrived, upon picking them up my son had marks all on his arm as if he was bitten several times. As a parent, I should have trusted my intuition and removed them from this facility that very first day. My son would come home and tell us that his teacher, Ms. Amanda, didn't like him so we requested a classroom change with Ms. Jezera who was absolutely amazing. My daughter had a consistent revolving door of teachers; her nose would be completely crusted upon pickup as if she wasn't being tended to. Jezera and her sister Jasenia, who later became my daughters teacher, as well as Ms. Brittney are easily the only teachers in the entire facility that I trusted with my children. Once my son aged out of Ms. Jezera's class he was placed into a classroom with Katie's son, the director. All of a sudden they claimed he was having behavioral issues when in actuality he was being bullied by Katie's son and other classmates and management refused to do anything about it despite our continuous requests for a classroom change, which was once honored previously. Katie shows complete favoritism towards her children and would make inappropriate comments to my child. There is a current DCFS investigation as well as attorneys involved due to an incident that occurred on 7/12. Upon picking my children up from this facility, my son had marks on his hips telling me his teacher, Ms. Terrah was pinching him ( as part of disciplinary measures) upon review of their cameras and an exam of my child these accusations proved to be 100% correct. The only thing I commend this daycare on is their swift response as Terrah was terminated within the hour, however, their continuous lack of due diligence in hiring competent staff and addressing issues at their core would have prevented the continuous mistreatment of my son during his entire enrollment here. This facility over the course of the entire 18 months continued to lose my trust and the ONLY reason I kept putting faith in them is due to the strong relationships I had with the teachers listed; their promise to ensure my children were safe was appreciated but they of course can only do so much. Now I am a special ed teacher, working with students that have learning disabilities. Because I was a student at Huntington, and now I am a teacher in the public school system, I feel like I can look at the learning center from both ends and give a well rounded review. For starters, I do not think the teachers at the learning center are particularly kind to the students, which to me is very important. If the students are unhappy, and their social/emotional needs are not met, learning will not occur. My biggest issue is that the centers do not seem welcoming at all, the florescent lighting doesn't help, and the overall feeling inside the place is dull. Not so inviting, especially for students who are going to get extra help outside of school. Their program for general student support, so when they work on reading and math with the kids, I did not find helpful at all. I used to go for two hour sessions two times a week after school. Personally, I think it is shame on parents that make their kids do that much extra work, especially if the students are struggling learners. I was already having an issue with reading in school, and finding the main idea in a six sentence passage, was not the way to help me out, but Huntington seemed to think it was. How the system is set up is they place you in a level via some assessment, then you stay in that level until you "pass" it. Essentially you can end up getting stuck on a level for months, and rather than having a teacher support you, and actually teach you the skill, you just have to keep up with the level until you figure it out on your own and pass it. That I don't see as fit when trying to teach the student a new skill. That being said I found that their ACT prep was very helpful when it came to anything reading related (including the science section), but the math ACT prep I found to be troublesome. For reading they gave a bunch of tips and tricks to help when testing in those sections, and that was very helpful. I think that because there was a common goal it gave the teachers a better idea of what they were actually teaching. For math they would try to use tricks to make the problems shorter, that was not good for me, my math section score actually went down after studying with them. Because I had a pretty successful experience with the ACT prep, I returned to Huntington for prep when I was taking state teaching exams in college (Basic Skills etc.) They helped me when it came to this type of test prep, so I was glad my parents sent me back as a college student. From a special ed teachers perspective, I don't think I would suggest this for any of my students. Something you can do as an alternative is find a 1:1 home tutor for your student, that way they can work on exactly what your kid needs. I would though recommend Huntington for overall test prep if you're prepping for something specific such as the ACT or the SAT.

A teacher at the school told us that the director has a rule that if a child gets themselves into a situation like that they need to get themselves out of it. She's THREE YEAR OLDS. They didn't report every biting incident until we forced them to document it. Then she also lied saying the boy was removed from school. That is a LIE. He has reduced hours but he is still there.
