We absolutely love this place and highly recommend! We attend both therapies and the sensory play gym here--all are wonderful. My daughter went through multiple therapists for OT and early intervention, before we finally found Littleland. The comparison between all the other therapists we've tried to the Littleland therapists is truly night and day. Before finding Littleland, my daughter really wasn't making any progress, now she is regulating better and learning so many tools. They also offer feeding therapy which is very difficult to find. My daughter works with Miss Faye, Miss Shu, and Miss Marisa, and they are all so wonderful, with a special place in our hearts due to their excellence. As for the sensory-play gym it has done wonders for our sensory-seeking-kiddo. She can run, climb, swing, and get so much great proprioceptive input. It's been really great for her, because she has a hard time with transitions and it gives her extra time to regulate and play. The facilities are also always impeccably clean, which is rare these days, especially for a children's place. And it's always nice and cool on these hot days. Also, whether it is the sensory gym or therapy side, all of the staff are awesome, including on the admin side! They really make me feel like they care about my child and go above and beyond for her. At first, I thought this would be a good place for my child to receive services and engage in free play. Lately though, I have become aware that they discriminate against the clients they are supposed to serve. They don't know how to handle kids who engage in challenging behaviors even though this is typical for their clientele. The pediatric therapy gym and play area are not safe for kids who elope. They plan on reducing all future ST, OT, and PT sessions to 30 minutes. This means all clients will get significantly less interventions and be dysregulated from the time it takes to transport there and back and have their schedules disrupted for no actual service. This is not how to run a business that is supposed to serve kids with needs for speech, occupational, and physical therapy. read more

I am extremely disappointed with this clinic and, at this point, I would not recommend them to another parent looking for consistent therapy for their child. The most frustrating part is that our son was doing well with his original therapist. We were genuinely happy with her, we were seeing progress, and she had established a relationship with our son. For a child receiving therapy, that consistency matters. Then the clinic removed her from his schedule without giving us any prior notice or discussing it with us first. We were simply told that she was going to be busy during that time. As a parent, it is incredibly frustrating to have a therapist who is working well with your child taken away without even being given the courtesy of a conversation. The scheduling situation has been just as frustrating. It appears that the clinic is willing to continue taking on and scheduling more children while struggling to accommodate the children who are already there. We were left trying to find whatever availability was left, despite our insurance covering two days of therapy per week. When I called to schedule, I was basically told they only had one day available. My son is approved for two days, so naturally I asked what we were supposed to do. I even asked directly, "Should we move to another clinic?" The response was essentially, "Yes." That response honestly says a lot. Imagine being a parent trying to get your child the therapy he is approved for, watching him make progress with a therapist he has connected with, only to have the therapist removed from his schedule and then be told the clinic cannot accommodate the hours your child is authorized to receive. And when you ask if you should find another clinic, you're essentially told to do exactly that. This is not how continuity of care should feel. I understand that schedules change and that therapists have other responsibilities. What I don't understand is why the families and children already receiving services are the ones expected to constantly adjust around scheduling problems. Our son deserves consistency. He deserves therapists who have time for him. And as parents, we should not have to fight for basic scheduling when his insurance has already authorized the services. The original therapist was the bright spot in our experience, and we are genuinely grateful for the progress she helped him make. Unfortunately, the clinic's scheduling, communication, and lack of accommodation have completely overshadowed that positive experience. If you are considering this clinic, I strongly recommend asking very specific questions about therapist continuity, scheduling availability, and whether they can actually provide the number of sessions your child is authorized to receive before committing. We are now seriously considering moving our son elsewhere--not because the therapy itself wasn't valuable, but because the clinic has made it unnecessarily difficult to actually receive it consistently. read more

My daughter has been receiving services with Ms. Marissa beginning of this year, and from the very first day to today, we have seen so much improvement with Aylani's speech, physical, and over all growth in her learning abilities. As soon as we walk in, Aylani is ready and eager to learn and grow with the help of Ms.Marissa. Not only has she been able to be an amazing teacher to my daughter but has also created a bond that I truly feel is genuine. They took down my first review. People need to know the truth! My son has been receiving speech therapy at Recess Therapy for over 2 1/2 years, and while the speech therapist he sees is wonderful and has done great work with him, the company itself has become a huge disappointment since the new ownership took over. Communication with parents has been almost nonexistent, and it feels like the focus is more on money than on patient care. The therapy sessions, which were once thorough and beneficial, are now rushed and too short to truly meet my son's needs. This is especially difficult when running late, as there's no flexibility or understanding. Their late cancellation policy is unreasonable, demanding cancellations 24 hours in advance, but it's nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone. Today was the final straw. My son showed up for his scheduled appointment, only to find out that it had been canceled. There was no call, no voicemail, no communication beforehand. This left my son confused and upset, as he couldn't understand why he wasn't seen for his session. It's incredibly frustrating to waste time and gas when services aren't provided as expected. Despite the great work of my son's therapist, I can no longer trust the company. It's clear they're more focused on profits than providing quality care to families. Our therapist was Kimberlee who we chose due to the Spanish bilingual background she has. I also love how the facility sends you text and email reminders of your therapy the day before, and they make make-up sessions easy. Recess therapy is such a great agency. I found them through a yelp search when my twins were transitioning from regional center services. The receptionist that helped us was kind and answered all of my questions. There was a wait to see a therapist at that time, we were looking for a bilingual therapist, but it was much shorter than we anticipated. I can't say enough good things about Ms. Kim. One of the only Spanish speaking SLPAs in the area, we are so happy we waited for her to have openings. She is kind, knowledgeable, understanding, and great at what she does. My twins saw her for a year and half and made amazing improvements. They were speaking in single words to short phrases when they first started seeing her and now speak in complete sentences. Ms. Kim supported their expressive language growth as well as their articulation and receptive langauge skills through wonderful activities. She built such an amazing relationship with my kids and we wish we could continue to see her forever. She is amazing! Connie and all of the staff at Recess is wonderful. Best speech therapy in the SGV. We're took both our kids to Recess Therapy. Our daughter started at 2 years old, and really enjoyed being there with her therapist, she did graduated at 3 years old. Our son who is severe autistic, nonverbal is there for both speech and OT. Their therapist really care for their kiddos. The staff and therapist there are very involved and hands on. You can tell everyone who works there is happy to apart in the kids developmental growth, they offer us in person therapy, even with Covid. We highly recommend Recess Therapy and Kimberlee Guzman (Ms. Kim), our son's amazing speech therapist! We started speech therapy for our son at around 24-months-old. We were concerned because our son was not talking, and so our goal was to close his language gap before he gets any older and before he starts school. Ms. Kim was able to build such a great connection with our son - she was patient, knowledgeable, and fun! She did a great job communicating with us as parents, setting goals, and provided speech exercises that we could practice at home until our next session.
