I had been searching and SEARCHING for a place to take my 2-year-old daughter for her very first haircut, and I was honestly nervous because she's extremely shy and doesn't do well with one-on-one attention with new people. On a last-minute whim I called Little Kuts to see if they had any openings, and to my surprise they were able to squeeze us in at 2:20pm! Walking in, you can immediately tell how much thought and care Marie puts into not only her care for cutting kids hair but also the space. The environment feels welcoming and calming, not just for the kids but for the parents too! Marie was so patient, gentle, and understanding with my daughter explaining everything she was doing, even talking to my daughter and me. Her energy and personality lights up the room and truly is everything! First haircuts can easily turn into a meltdown, but she handled everything so well. She absolutely nailed my daughter's haircut, and we somehow made it through with way less crying than I expected! If you have a shy or nervous little one, I can't recommend Little Kuts enough. Our baby's first at home haircut was somewhat a disaster, so we opted to seek professional help for his next one. Since it was our first visit, Little Kuts required a 50% deposit for our appointment, which was applicable to the total cost. When we arrived the stylist was finishing with another client, but baby boy had a blast exploring the toys and balloons in the salon. Cute little space with several TVs and various salon seats shaped like vehicles. Babe was quite upset having to sit down in his airplane and get his hair cut, and no amount of snacks, toys or videos would get him to sit still. BUT- Ms. Marie was so skilled and patient- giving us instructions for how to hold him and where to stand each step of the way. His hair looked really good after, hard to believe how even it looked as he was crying and moving/flailing the entire haircut. We loved our experience at Little Kuts! My son was crying the entire time, but Marie did such an amazing job with him. She was so patient, kind, and understanding, exactly what you hope for when your little one is nervous about a haircut. The shop was super kid-friendly they took us in right away and had plenty of toys, goodies, and even balloons that my son absolutely loved. We came here for our son's first hair cut some 1-2 years ago. Our stylist was great, patient, friendly, and was able to complete my son's first haircut without much of a pre from him. He did a great job as well being patient. She did such a a great job cutting his hair that he is now 3 going on 4 and we are still coming back. Came here for my daughter's first hair cut! She's 2.5, but her hair is nearly down to her butt, so we decided it was time. We brought her here because of the good reviews and they have cars to sit in (she loves the Safeway carts for kids, so we knew she'd love it here) We got in and after a short wait, the hair stylist asked what show she would prefer to watch (1 tv was playing coco melon, the other was playing some kind of kid movie). Being that my daughter adores coco melon, the hair stylist sat her in a little fire truck right in front of the tv. My daughter lit up as soon as she was seated in the car AND got to watch coco melon lol The hair cut was fast, and at the end, the stylist took pictures/videos, and even put a little tinsel in her hair! I loved the stylist also texted me the pics and videos. We got the 1st hair cut package.. so in addition to the hair cut and tinsel at the end, we also got a lock of her hair on a paper with a pic of her getting her hair cut :) she was also given a lollipop at the end. My daughter's appointment was at 1:15 pm. Hubby called and made an appointment. Appointments are only taken. No walk ins. After cutting my son's hair myself for the past year, I decided it was time for a pro! I called Little Kuts and was able to get in for an appointment same day. I've taken him several times to Pigtails and Crewcuts, but there's often a long wait on weekends, and they *always* cut it too short. He has curly hair, and I like to leave it long on top to encourage some curl. But they always want to clipper it instead of scissors, when I don't want anything that short. I've taken him to my own stylist - who is amazing with his hair - but wasn't able to take him there this time. Little Kuts was the absolute best of both worlds. They have cute chairs for littles, a train table, TVs for the kids to watch during their cut, and lollipops, and perhaps best of all, Marie listened to exactly what I wanted and did a fantastic job. His hair looks great. We arrived a little early for our appointment time, but the only other family was leaving. We had our temperatures checked and hands sanitized, then she got to work. She was friendly and chatty. My kiddo is pretty easy-going, especially after putting up with mom cuts for 15 months, and he just watched PJ Masks and was happy. She finished in about 20 minutes and let him finish the episode he was watching. $24.95 plus tax and tip. Loyalty cards are available, and they do double-punches Tuesdays/Thursdays. Our appointment was at 1:20 and upon arriving, we noticed a sign at the door that says to wait outside until invited in. She was finishing up another cut so we waited outside for about 10 minutes. Once inside there were 3 options of where the child can sit (airplane, hot car or fire truck) for their haircut. She let us know there was a "first haircut package" which consists of saving the first strands of hair cut, a certificate and cute Polaroid for $40. Long story short, I was delaying getting my little one's hair cut because he is our youngest, and I wanted to preserve his baby look. BUT he was begging and begging for a haircut. Since then, he loves getting his hair cut here and refuses to go to an adult barbershop (where his brothers go) LOL. Aunty Marie is always fast, efficient and does a great job. OMG finally good haircuts for my boys. For the longest time they've been receiving botched jobs from various places and I kinda gave up and put off getting them cuts for months, it was getting bad...my mom found this place, quite a drive from Kaneohe but so worth it. Also my kids both have ADHD and I've had bad experiences with impatient hairdressers in the past, I mean I feel bad but they can't help it and they try their best to be good but it's not easy for them. I totally forgot to get the girl's name who cut their hair today but she was so good with them, very sweet and so patient and friendly. My boys had a blast and were really happy to have a new look. One of my sons is turning 7 and she gave him a toy! They also both got lollipops at the end. I really like that it wasn't crowded like other salons. Sons first haircut ! As a first time mom, you never ever wanna cut your lil ones baby fine soft hair ! but because we were traveling internationally I thought it was time to get it finally cut. I recently had surgery so I wasn't able to be there at my sons FIRST haircut , sad I know . My husband was able to bring our son; appointment was at 2:15, she was running a little behind but she was amazing . My husband said she was able to cut his hair super quick, and because it was his first haircut I guess there was a package that you could get it was a Polaroid picture, few pieces of hair, & a certificate with the name and date of first haircut ! Today was our first time coming to Little Kuts & I will highly recommend this place to anyone! First off I called on a Saturday for a same day appointment & they gladly squeezed my son in which was very surprising considering the last kids salon we went to was Pigtails and crewcuts & waited 20min for our own appointment i booked days in advance . So I was very happy at the fact it was so easy & fast to call to make an appointment at Little Kuts. Secondly my son was NOT having it at all! We took him during the time he usually takes his nap so if you can imagine all hell broke loose when it was his time to cut his hair... but gladly the Lady (I didn't get her name) was so accommodating, helpful & patient. My 2 year old was screaming his head off and would not sit still for the life of him. I was so embarrassed & felt terrible but she kept a positive attitude & allowed him to play with the trains or take a moment of break if needed. She also cut his hair while he was playing with the trains which made a huge mess of course but she wasn't fazed and kept a smile on the whole time. She kept reassuring us it was ok he was having a meltdown & that's what they're here for & they'll see us next time. My wife and I are so glad we chose Marie to give our son his first haircut! We looked at a couple of different places around island, but based off the reviews we wanted to try Little Kuts. We called Friday morning and booked an appt that same day which was super convenient for our family's crazy schedule. When we arrived, we were very excited to see the waiting area had little trains and a play area for little ones. The best part of the wait area was that cocomelon was playing on one of the tvs. After our wait we were greeted by Marie and she set up our son in one of the cool race cars to cut his hair. Now up to this point everything was going well, but then our 16 month old son decided to give us the worst temper tantrum known to man. Even with his crying and flailing Marie gave him the best haircut I could have ever asked for. She was patient and gave us breaks to calm him down and even little snacks to see if that would help him. Though none of that really made him happy, we appreciated the time and effort she took to show us she cared. I'm impressed with the friendliness and talent of the woman who runs this shop. My son has beautiful curls that were hidden under excess weight and volume. I couldn't quite convey what I wanted because I didn't want to regret anything. I showed her a photo of what I had in mind and she intuitively knew what to do. She was gentle with my son and followed him around because he kept turning his head lol. This woman knows how to handle toddlers. As you can see from the photo, my son's curls were inconsistent (some straighter, some bouncier) because the top was weighing down on the bottom. It was just kind of hanging there and reminded me of those square-shaped white wigs our founding fathers wore in the 1700s. Now, he has beautiful curls shining on their own with a v shape towards the nape of his neck. I'm happy and pleased with the results. Come to this shop, this woman knows what she's doing and is super friendly as well. Side note: she offers a photo and certificate for first timers. I didn't get that because I'm trying to go paperless and it would just get lost somewhere in the house. But if you like that sort of thing, it's a cute keepsake.
