Good Italian food in the heart of London's Soho. We're a well travelled, cultured American couple (almost an oxymoron nowadays). I had the Cotoletta di vitello alla Milanese and my wife had the Saltimbocca. Both great plates. Service was good. Ambiance was that of a small trattoria with just a handful of tables that we could see. But can't complain, the Milanese was well tenderized and served with lemon. I had a Caesar salad that was very good too. I recommend this to any cultured American that appreciates authentic Italian food. If your idea of Italian food is the Olive Garden, go elsewhere as that is not what you'll find here! And that's a great thing! read more

Felt like Italian food in London. Stopped at this restaurant. Server was very nice. Ordered Margherita Pizza, which was fine. However, my issue was with the Caesar salad (or I should say the copious mystery dressing salad, with rock like croutons). My wife and I tried to tough it out, but after a bite or two it could not be done. I tried to have salad removed from bill. And the manager asked if I requested lite dressing or dressing on the side?! I was incredulous. He denied removal of charge, but did not even offer a replacement (which I would have politely denied. Avoid this dressing). This was not customer service. Wine was good, but I refused to 'top it up' after. And I really wanted to). #Never again. Go to Chinatown or other eateries nearby. But the server was nice. If it wasn't for the Caesar, a solid three stars were in order. But nope! read more

Service was terrible. We ordered drinks, they gave us the wrong one. The margherita pizza had no basil on the entire pizza. 15 minutes after we got our food, they finally got our original drinks from a different server. When we said we were already given the wrong drinks to begin with, the server rolled her eyes and walked away. Absolutely would not recommend coming here at all. read more

The Rules: 1. W/e nights in town will always start with a visit to Little Italy for either food or drinks. 2. Always sit on upper floors for dinner as the downstairs will turn in to dancing space (on w/e). 3. Make sure you try at least one of their absolutely beautiful pasta dishes. 4. I was completely prepared to give Little Italy four stars ... until I saw the bill! On the one hand, everything we had was yummy, save for the insalata mista. On the other hand, nothing was extraordinary. Angel Hair pasta with tomato sauce in a parmesan bowl, was tasty, but the sauce was a bit sweet, and the pasta overcooked. King prawns wrapped in fried spaghetti, again, were good, but not great. The fettucini with Scotch Fillet ragu was the best, and two bowls of that disappeared quickly from our table. The service was spotty. At times there were no servers at all. At others there were three people fawning over us (there were just three at our table). The wine list is big big big. You have plenty of bottles over 100 pounds to choose from, if that is your thing. If not, get some help to navigate the list. There are some good bottles for around 30 pounds, but you will not have heard of them. There is outside seating, always a plus when you travel with smokers. There are heat lamps too, but bring your jacket, as they are not that warm. All in all, a mixed review, but I'd be willing to go back when in Soho. read more

Hard to believe, but after so many years in London and numerous crazy party nights (it's all true about the dancing on tables) at Little Italy, I enjoyed my very first lunch here today. And what an excellent choice it was, too. The set menu is extremely good value and the food of the highest quality. Loved the wine, too, the staff were professional and friendly, nice crowd around us - what more could you ask for. Personally I wouldn't recommend sitting on the outside tables as the fumes somewhat interfere with the taste - but you certainly see the best of Soho walk/cycle/drive past. Little Italy is a Soho institution, just like Ronnie Scott's opposite or Bar Italia next door - not to be missed! read more

I love coming here with my dad on our missions to find places in London which still retain a lot of charm and have not been bulldozed by some chain or another. As a restaurant Little Italy is not the best, but if someone else is paying then it is acceptable.But, by night this place turns into a steaming party, anyone is welcome. Punters and waiters will mix, drinks will be overflowing, crappy music is blasting and everyone in there will be having an amazing time. I love coming here with groups of friends. Make sure you get there earlish because it gets very crowded and sweaty. You will fall in love, you will pledge alliegance to this place, trust me. And drinks are averagely priced for the area so bring on the vino! read more

This review is super late as I dined here last year with some friends when we traveled to the UK.... better late than never though! This place was recommended to us by a fine London Police Officer we came across on the streets in Leicester Square. We thought this was a really classy looking restaurant and reasonably priced for the quality of food that is served and the service that is provided. I honestly can't even really remember what exactly we ordered since it's been so long ago, but I remember one of us had some sort of steak dish, and I had like a lobster pasta dish, and the other, I realllllyy don't remember what dish it was. Now, I know, you might think, well, since you don't remember what dishes they were then that means the food isn't good enough to leave an impression. Wrong you are! It left a good enough impression for me to want to write a review a year later! I would like to begin this review by saying I rarely feel the need to write scathing responses but this is an incredible exception. I am disgusted, livid, and utterly shocked at the level of "service" at this "restaurant". My boyfriend and I arrived at this establishment hoping for a cozy Christmas drink and meal before our reservations across the way at Ronnie Scott's jazz club. We entered and were immediately approached by an aggressive and balding elderly gentleman. Without a hello or how are you, he pointed to our shoes, black leather boots for myself and Timberland winter boots on my boyfriend, accompanied by classic winter coats. He pointed to our feet and asked in the most unapologetic and condescending manner, "Are you sure you're in the right place?". It was clear he did not think our clothing was upscale enough for us to step past the welcome mat at his restaurant. I bid him farewell and happy holidays and left as quickly as I could, unable to be in the presence of this horrid man any longer. This was my boyfriends first visit to London and I expected a SoHo restauranteur to behave much more appropriately. I'm not sure if he was just incredibly rude or if his comments were racially motivated. His remarks completely ruined our night and were the complete antithesis of the Christmas spirit we were hoping for. Simple pub with s sunny sidewalk. I visited in the middle of the day, it was completely empty other than out on the sidewalk cause it was a really sunny day. There is 5 tables out front. We always have a tonne of fun here! My pal Judith introduced us girls to this venue a few years back and since then make sure we put it in our calendar for a girls night out. A brilliant and unpretentious place in the heart of Soho. Not one of those bars I would immediately plan to have a evening out and I have to amid that every time I have ended up there it has been after the queues to more trendier bars have been to long, the entrance fees too high and it is all the same anyway. Every time Little Italy has saved my evening and I have had a blast. The place is maybe for a bit older crowd, music is old classics played by a DJ that has a new haircut every week. By the end of the evening literally the whole bar is dancing and there wont be no space left for just hanging around. The staff is forever smiling and friendly, and the dj simply loves you if you give him compliments for his latest hairstyle. I have been recommended the restaurant upstairs but I have not yet tried it out, but it definitely is on my to do list. read more

Little Italy has always lived off the reputation of its neighbour and soho institution, Bar Italia. However, it deserves a place in its own right as a chaotic fun-loving restaurant which you either love or hate. Let's not beat around the bush, people come here to get plastered and dance on the tables. They certainly don't (and shouldn't) come for the over-priced food. The restaurant starts sedate enough but by midnight it's overflowing with people whilst a dj cranks up the volume with cheesy euro-classics. Everyone seems to be steamingly drunk by about 1am and then the tables get cleared away and the dancing really starts. By 3am the waiters have joined in and you've made 10 new best friends. The other punters are usually very freindly indeed so the chances are you won't be going home alone. The next day you'll wake up with a hefty number of credit card receipts, a killer hangover and a blurry memory of table dancing and screaming middle-aged desperate singletons! read more

Recommended by a friend, I found Little Italy to be cozy and inviting, with a menu that had plenty of choices for anyone's taste (well, as long as they like Italian). A nice selection of pastas, risottos, meat and non-meat dishes. I really enjoyed my pasta (angel hair - simple, but very good) and my friend raved about the lobster linguine. We were too full to try desserts, but were able to sit and chat for quite some time and finish our bottle of wine without being bothered by anyone. Next time I am in London, this will be a place I go back to. read more

OMG the Warm Goat's Cheese and Caramelised Red Onion Quiche with Balsamic Reduction appetizer was the best I have ever eaten... maybe I haven't gotten out much, who knows but I would definintely go back to this place just for that dish! Fantastic little find in Soho - next door to Bar Italia on Frith Street. White linen tablecloths, fantastically gorgeous pasta (the best dish is the lobster spaghetti), amazing bread and free panettone dessert. Coffees are also solid. Service is efficient and friendly, and there are also outside tables for a sunny day. Great for lunch and dinner - I would highly recommend it....can get pricey quick, but that's London. read more

I eat here a few times a year and have always loved it. The food is well presented and executed (somewhat on the expensive side, but worth it). The staff can be a little erratic, but we have often been given free drinks (limoncello after dinner and the occasional additional bottle of wine after a long lunch!). Tables outside as well, good place to people-watch. They have recently re-decorated and extended the restaurant and we had a family birthday lunch in the new room to the side (not closed off), which was superb. I have heard that there is often impromptu dancing on the tables on weekends, but have not witnessesed it! Recommend for a treat meal out for a special occasion. read more

We went to Little Italy this past Sunday on a recommendation from a few Italian friends. We did have reservations and went in the early evening. So the place was not crowded or noisy as some other reviewers mentioned. We had the linguine lobster which was excellent and the angle hair. Very good pasta dishes but be prepared it is pricey. Good location in SoHo. Nice service from Sonya our waitress. Would pass on the desert next time not worth the price. If you want good pasta give Little Italy a go! read more

Had a wonderful dinner here last night. Food is amazing and a great atmosphere. A little pricey but worth it.

Had dinner here on a slow Saturday evening - the meat came out under cooked. It arrived "seared" vs cooked medium rare. It was fixed, but by then the other food was cold. Not even the espresso at the end was comped / taken off the bill to apologize for the admitted error (admitted by the server on the under cooked meat) that the meat was under cooked. We also overheard the server talking to her boss about comping dessert or the espresso and he said, no that does not have a proper restaurant works. In the end the manager did come out and apologize but by then the bill had been paid and there wasn't much that could be done to fix the problem. read more

The food was decent but the service was horrible. The waitress misunderstood our order and then blamed us for the confusion. They charged a "cover fee" and a "service fee" on top of the cost of food. Overpriced supremely average 'Italian" food. 20 of us had set menu, £50, not cheap and for that price you expect something of at least some kind of quality. I had calamari; it came served in a dim sum kind of wicker box which in turn was on top of a piece of slate. To the side was 'squid ink mayonnaise' which was pretty awful. Calamari itself was over done and salty. Person next to me had tortellini which was possibley worse than said calamari. Over done bland pasta smothered in what tasted like a jar of equally bland sauce. For the main I had a sea bass fillet which came with a kind of ratatouille. It was the smallest sea bass fillet I think I have ever seen, badly cooked (probably reheated) and cold. Skin was soggy and horrible and guess what the sauce was that came with it...a squiggly line of mayonnaise. Other people had over cooked chicken with bland mash and greens. Dessert wasn't any better. I had panna cotta which out of the selection was the best (of a bad bunch) but was blatantly bought in cheap rubbish. Someone across from me had a kind of chocolate cake brownie thing which pinged across the plate when you cut it. Other things to note. Expensive mediocre wine. Gin and tonic £11. This would not offend me so much given the area if it wasn't Gordons gin and schwepps tonic and having to ask the bartender for a slice of lime... Loud, party style restaurant. Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline pumping out and birthday music played about 10 times in an hour. If you have the money and want a pretty rubbish meal and to get totally wasted and enjoy the 'club' until 3pm which is what it turns into then go for it. If you actually want good food and wine at a reasonable price then stay away. Take your say £75 and go for two meals else where. Overall. Pretentious, overpriced food, badly executed and in a horrible environment. Pretty terrible. read more

I go to Little Italy often as love the atmospere there, and for the first time I decided to do my Bday celebration there with a proper dinner and everything what comes with it. I read quite a few worrying reviews about this place so was in a hesitation at first. Mistake. I had THE BEST time I could have possibly had. Starting with a classy and nicely decorated table, champagne on arrival, which was a very nice welcoming. Our waiters were friendly and attentive. The manager was excellent and they all made my evening unforgettable. ;o) This place was packed with ladies so guys.....Candy shop ;o)....The DJ played a wide range of music, from 80`s, cheesy, to all the hits u can shake ur asset to...I am very critical regarding venues and reviews, but this was one of the best nights I ever had in London (and I go out quite a lot). It can appear a bit pricey but hey....if you wanna enjoy urself, it doesn`t really matter...once a year ;o)) The food- yummy, delicious, from the starters to the dessert. Ace.
