I'm sure you have all seen the little free libraries all over your communities. I typically see…read morethem in front of houses or businesses on walkable streets. If you're not familiar, the little free libraries, are little cabinets that resemble little houses, inside you'll find books. You're encouraged to take a book and also leave book, for someone else to find. You might find kid's books, cook books, college textbooks, whatever someone might be willing to part ways with. Well the other day, I was at the Connecticut Post Mall, in Milford. When I came across the Little Free Library. This is a physical location, just like the tiny ones, where you can take a book and leave one. There is no one working here. They have a rug, some comfy chairs, and adorable art work on the walls. This is all targeted towards little kids. I was here with my friend. She found a book for her son and I found one for my class. We didn't take any of the books because we felt guilty that we didn't have any to leave behind. The little free library's mission is to have books accessible to everyone, everywhere! This is such a wonderful way to encourage readers everywhere to keep reading!

Deep in a residential neighborhood, this Little Free library has two boxes. They are some sort of…read moreextruded plastic thing and both are in very good condition. I don't know if I've ever seen an LFL with "two" libraries. Between them is a bench to rest. There is street parking here so you can rest your vehicle while you browse. Mostly paperbacks and some children's books. I haven't read Charles Krauthammer's book so that would have been my main choice today. The Little Free Library can be missed, so if you're walking in the area, worth a stop to read the signs and pick up or drop off books.

This library box is located in the parking area for the Swezey Avey House and there is also a park…read morethat includes Upper Lake. The library has two white boxes, each with shingle roof. They are in good condition and this morning were pretty well stuffed with paperbacks, hardcovers and other styles. Fiction, non-fiction and children's books. A copy of "Purpose Driven Lift" appealed to me as I've not read that before and heard much about it. The libraries are in good condition, inside and out. This is charter number 59635. The online caption reads, "These two Little Free Libraries built by Eagle Scout Erich Max Jenne placed at the park near Swezey-Avey House are stocked by donations from the Friends of the Longwood Public Library as well as community members and maintained by librarians from the Longwood Public Library. It is assembled from unstained wood, perhaps a recovered shipping pallet, and could be hard to spot. It has a single door and over the top, the word "LOVE" is spelled out. Inside, only a couple of books and as I expected from this location, the are all religious-based. Not that there's anything wrong with that - people are welcome to stock their libraries with whatever they like. There is street parking nearby and a comfy bench where you can sit to read. I was waiting for the coffee shop across the street to open when I spotted this library that is in…read morethe front of the school. It is a white library on a single post. White trim and white roof, it's easy to spot against the greenery and the brown paint of the school. Inside, two low shelves that were packed with mostly children's reading. Lots of magazines and light reading, excellent considering the location. This library does not appear on the Little Free Library map or database, so I don't know who the steward might be. This is a fully loaded Little Free Library. I love stumbling upon these little gems. This one is…read moreright outside of the Harry Barnes Nature Center. It's nicely painted with a pretty red and the bookcase was loaded with a variety of books. It's worth a stop after visiting the nature center and walking the trail (with an awesome boardwalk).

This is a cute LFL in the playground, located in the Simsbury Farms Recreation Complex. It's white…read morewith colorful paint. The glass was knocked out so the books are exposed to the elements. Most of the time, I don't see much books in it. This time there are quite a few. Overall, it's a good spot to donate and take some books. I'm hoping they will replace the glass though!
