In fact, when I booked it, I wasn't allowed to book for anything less than 3 hours. I was told that this would be considered a local move. I was paying for 2 movers and a truck. On the day of the move, they sent 5 men, completed the move in 1.5 hrs and still charged me for the full service. I'm also upset because Bellhop instructed me to dismantle the furniture to ensure I saved time and also money which I did. Had I known, I wouldn't have wasted my time. I reached out to them to request a partial refund for the time not used and they have refused.

It was great due to one employee with the New Orleans team and his name is Tyrone. Tyrone was a gift from God, our angel. He gave us spectacular customer service and he told us that he would take care of us and he did just that. We moved from Baton Rouge to Clayton NC, of course a stressful move, we had a time crunch, and at the last minute we needed another container delivered and picked up on short notice and PackRat made it happened with Tyrone assuring us he would make sure it happened the way we needed it and he was a man of his word. I would recommended 1800RatPack just because of the care and professionalism that Tyrone showed us. I hope RatPack reads this and gives Tyrone some kind award for his exceptional customer service, there isn't enough of that around anymore. You never know what you'll find from old magazines to old family photos to empty 35mm film canisters to old laboratory supplies. Their official thrift store is located in eye sight close by to if you want browse those offerings. This place is a true Durham staple since I was a kid and it was located in Northgate Mall and remains a Durham staple now (sigh... - because I'm older now too) many years later.

We hired Joseph Rose Plumbing to replace our hot and cold water valves under our kitchen sink and…read moreto adjust our water pressure in our home. At the time, we also need a new water heater and asked them to give us an estimate for a new gas tankless water system while they were here. The two guys who showed up to do the work, were very professional, thorough and efficiant. The work that we hired them for was excellent and the cost to do this work was excellent - they were here for a couple of hours to complete the work and give us an estimate and charged us only $265. Another plumbing (Brown Brothers) company we hired to to adjust our water pressure (ONLY) a 7 months ago - were here for only 15-minutes and lowered our high water pressure way too low, charged us almost $500 - and it took them 7 months to bill us. Do not hesitate to hire Joseph Rose Plumbing for your work at your home. Also, I would like to add that the Joseph Rose technicians took pictures of ALL the work they did - before and after - and these were all included in their emailed invoice. That said, while Joseph Rose's estimate for a new gas tankless system came in a couple of thousand dollars LESS than the lowest estimate we recieved from other companies, we were very nervous about hiring them for this particular work because they didn't mention anything about pulling a city permit for the work. At the end of our discussion - the guy told us that they don't pull permits - this is the responsibility of the homeowner. He said you want us to pull a city permit for the work, it would cost $500, but a permit isn't required (for new installs and like-like-replacements). At the time I didn't realize that a city permit only costs $65 and the this work 100% requires a permit to be pulled. I found this out when I emailed Durham City inspectors to inquire. When I emailed Joseph Rose Plumbing why we were not hiring them for this job, they responded with "We install lots of gas tankless water heaters without pulling permits". Ethan did respond to my email to let me know that his office manager was new/still learning and misunderstood. If you are having plumbing work that requires a city permit - look elsewhere, none of the three other companies who gave us estimates required the customer to pull their own city permit for the work - let alone charge $500 if you wanted them to pull a permit. The $65 permit fee was worked into all other estimate invoices - we never even saw the fee.

Since the wedding was in a few hours, I said I could wait, if he could do them now. He replied "I'll get on 'em, like ugly on an ape!" And his partner started working on them immediately. There are two floors with other 'artist in residence' so it was a lively and diverse Friday crowd. I did make it 'upstairs' to meet Caitlin Cary, a local artist who has a studio there. Some may know here as vocalist/violin player with Ryan Adams formerly of the band Whiskeytown.

A second-grade teacher from nearby Franklin Academy had the idea to have a free little library with books available for the youth in the community. Her second-grade class was the first to add books to the free little library, starting the take-a-book, leave-a-book honor system. Even though the free little library was intended for children, I did notice some other adult books available. But thankfully, the majority of the free little library's books were children's and young adult books. The free little library is divided into three parts, one to hold taller children's books, and the other side has a shelf to fit even more books inside. The free little library was clean, and the books were organized well. Parking was available in the 15-minute spots in front of Wake Electric. If you need more time, Wake Electric's parking lot is at the back of the building. If you have any infant, toddler board books and picture books or early reader chapter books, or middle school level chapter books to young adult fiction and teen books, this is a great place to get the books into hands that will enjoy them!
