Wild Roots Learning Center

My kids have been at Wild Roots in Folsom since they first opened during COVID. Back then, my kids…read morehated wearing masks in regular classrooms. Wild Roots was just what we needed! The teachers here are amazing! My middle schooler even had a teacher from his old public school, which was super helpful since he planed to go back to public high school later. This kept him on track (and even ahead) with what he needed to know. Something that I love is that the kids are outside ALL THE TIME! They have class outside, eat lunch outside, and do pretty much everything outside unless the weather is really bad. In summer, they sit under shady trees with nice breezes. In winter, they bundle up with jackets and blankets near space heaters. It reminds me of how European kids spend way more time outdoors instead of being stuck inside all day. My kids have learned tons and made great friends here. If you've read the book "Wild and Free," this school follows that idea perfectly. Kids learn, play, and grow at their own speed. Even if your kids go to regular school, Wild Roots has awesome summer camps that cost less than a babysitter! The kids learn cool stuff while having fun outside. I tell everyone looking for homeschool help around Folsom to check out Wild Roots. It's been such a great place for my family!

They came home proud of their new projects, which were full of ideas I know I would never think of. I felt safe dropping them off and knew they were in good hands with the staff. Shadow Glen Riding Stables was hands down the best field trip we have been on in years!…read moreAs a 3rd-grade teacher, I cannot say enough good things about Terry and the wranglers. They were welcoming, patient, knowledgeable, and made every student feel included. Our students had an incredible opportunity to learn about ranch and farm life, tractors, horses, foals, farm animals, hay, and the daily responsibilities of caring for a ranch. The hands-on experiences were the highlight of the day. Students were able to groom horses, interact with animals, ask questions, and gain a real appreciation for agriculture and animal care. Terry and his team kept the students engaged from beginning to end. What made this experience even more special was Terry Howard's generosity. Shadow Glen donated approximately three hours of their time at no charge to educate three classes of Center Joint Unified School District students. That level of community support is truly appreciated. Our students are still talking about the trip, and the adults had just as much fun as the kids. It was an outstanding experience from start to finish.

My lesson got cut a little short because a horse (not mine) got stuck in his reigns wrong and freaked out. They said I could ride more on my second lesson but when I tried to book my next lesson it was sold out until next year.. I'm not kidding. More than 8 months until I could book my next lesson. Very nice staff and horses but I wish their lesson bookings were more straight forward.

I am so glad we did!! My daughter went from not wanting to go to school, to now loves going, and is thriving! We are so thankful for the kind and amazing staff. That the teachers really communicate thoroughly on the progress and projects. We know that the well-being of our baby girl is in good hands here. I am so thankful we found this school.

They teach students music, poetry slam, public speaking, and many more. Not only do they teach STEM and Spanish classes, they also do fun activities like Family school dances where my whole family went and danced together with the other family, teachers and staff. I absolutely love the community aspect of this school. Let's talk about security. This school enforces strict rules regarding pick up and drop offs. A key pad must be entered in order to get in. Don't you want your loved ones to be safe and secure all day? Some bonus points are: Folsom Prep offers fun activities for after school programs, such as cooking and ninja classes. My daughter absolutely loves summer camp here as well. Kona ice has frequently stopped by over the last couple of years during summer camp. Currently my daughter is taking the ninja class on Fridays. You will not be disappointed if you enroll your loved ones here! Message me if you have additional questions :)

I was having hard feelings about going back to work, but staying at home was not a feasible option. From the moment we toured Goddard, we knew we had found the right people to entrust with our girl. All of the directors and teachers know every kid's name, and there is genuine joy from the staff every time a child walks through the front door. They send us daily updates on how my daughter is doing, what she did throughout the day (AMAZING and DYNAMIC curriculum!) what she ate, and even when she went to the bathroom (as a parent, you need to know!) from day one my husband and I have always felt that our daughter was safe and incredibly well loved and cared for by the teachers and directors. The staff are responsive to any calls/texts/emails right away, and are genuinely interested in not only the child, but the family. I love all of events they put on throughout the year: from dress-up days to holiday parties, to school dances, you can tell how much the staff love the kids and how safe the kids feel with the staff. My daughter loves her teachers and is excited when we pull up to school each day. 100% recommend joining the Goddard Folsom family!

I would not recommend this camp based on our experience…read more My 11-year-old son repeatedly complained of severe stomach pain throughout the day while attending camp. He even sat out several drills because he wasn't feeling well and gave the staff my phone number, asking them to call me. Despite multiple complaints and my son specifically requesting that I be contacted, no one called. When he got home, I could immediately tell something was seriously wrong. We took him to the emergency room, where he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and required emergency surgery. As a parent, it's terrifying to think that my child was asking for help and no one notified me. Had his condition continued to worsen without medical attention, the outcome could have been much more serious. What was equally disappointing was how this situation was handled afterward. When I spoke with the owner, Ron (or Roy), I found him to be dismissive, condescending, and lacking empathy. At no point did I feel that there was genuine concern for what my son had gone through. Even more surprising, no one from the facility reached out in the days following to check on my son after his emergency surgery. My younger son was also registered to attend camp that week, and no one contacted us to see if he would be attending or to ask how our family was doing. Because of this experience and the lack of communication, I chose not to send him. I understand that staff are not medical professionals, but they are responsible for communicating with parents when a child repeatedly complains of significant pain or asks for a parent to be contacted. A simple phone call could have made all the difference. I hope this review encourages the camp to improve its communication policies and take children's health concerns more seriously so another family doesn't have to experience what ours did.
