AR workshop is a super unique spot that is most definitely fun. You are hands on working on your project of choice. I came here with my bestie (as a belated bday hangout day) on a Saturday. We signed up to for the class about 3 weeks in advance. When you sign up, be sure to have looked at the projects they have avail for that day and know your customizations- you will need to add this at registration. They have a variety of cool projects- round signs, lazy susans, jewelry boards, framed boards, pillows, etc. When you arrive, you will see tables set up with supplies. Find your name and your project items should be there. Take a look at your stencil and make sure all of the info is correct. You are assigned a table host who will help you step by step. Most projects are not the same so there are more steps for others. A little patience goes a long way. And with your host, you are able to ask questions or ask for help. Our host Allie was very nice. She assisted with everything. All of the projects we saw were beautiful. It's so nice knowing you will take a unique project home and be proud of it. It was absolute fun and a memorable experience. I definitely recommend this to everyone and anyone as a group or for couples. I would love to come back and do more projects! Things to know- You'll need to pick out your stain and color (for most projects). Customize as much as you'd like! There is a drink bar- wine and bubbles :) They offer use of gloves and aprons You may need to use a drill or hammer to complete your project (don't be afraid of it!) Nice, friendly and helpful staff

Really fun team building event. They were helpful and clear and truly wanted us all to succeed at out projects. They were even patient with my slightly complicated ideas and helped me get them ten to work!

So much fun - highly recommend. We did the clock making class.

So much fun - highly recommend. We did the clock making class. The staff is so helpful, fun, and such a relaxing escape for my daughter's birthday. The shop is in the same parking lot as Bad Baker's Donut Shop and Starbucks (near Sutter + Kaiser hospital and on the same side of the street as the Chevron gas station). We will be coming back.

AR Workshop was such a fun girls day activity I did with my friends. I registered on their website about a month in advance. They have a huge selection of projects to choose from. From a painting to a pillow to a lazy Susan. I went with two other girlfriends and we brought along some snacks. You are allowed to bring in wine so I would definitely recommend that. They have a separate table area where you can set up your food which is nice. The staff is really hands on and they walk you through the entire project. So there's really no way to make a mistake or mess up. The cool thing is that you practically build everything yourself from nailing the pieces of wood together to adding the stencil. The only areas I struggled were picking out the colors for my painting. Thankfully the staff have such creative minds and offer great suggestions. Expect to spend a couple hours there. Take your time and enjoy the process! Such a fun group activity to do with friends. Would definitely like to go back. Also, pricing is reasonable. I spent about $60 for my painting with the willow tree. Don't forget to tip your helper too!!!

Such a fun and amazing girls night. We went in as a group of 13 for a private party and we all had such a good time. We were able to bring in some food and drinks and it was such a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Everyone keeps saying what a good time they had. The staff really made it the experience that it was. They made sure everyone was clear on what to do and gave each one of us their time and gave help when needed. With such a large group we ran over our allotted time by at least 45 minutes. But I never felt the staff rushed us. I highly recommend this place!

I highly recommend you get a group of friends together and visit AR Workshop. Last week, I joined a few friends for a class. None of us had ever been before, so we were a little nervous about the process. Our instructor was very informative and helped put our minds at ease that we would have no problem completing a wall-worthy project. We started the class with all the materials and tools that we each needed, already at our workstation. Right off the bat, we realized that these were not cookie cutter projects. You can really make each design your own by adding personal information to the design, distressing the wood on your project, or even selecting from a variety of paint colors and stains. I built a centerpiece box, but they also offer classes for canvas pillows, canvas totes, canvas wall hangings, framed wood signs, planked wood signs, and round wood signs. The directions were very easy to follow, even while we were gabbing and sipping bubbly! The best part was, the instructor was right, we were all able to make projects that we displayed proudly in our home, office, or even give as a gift. -- AR Workshop also has a little retail section where they sell jewelry, headbands, lotions, bath bombs, home decor, etc. I bought some roll on lotion that smells AMAZING!! -- I highly recommend you book a class. I know I will again!

It is a fun concept. My sister bought us projects for my birthday. The girl who helped us was extremely rude. It isn't organized very well. You walk in and find your place. There is a person assigned to your table to "help" pick out colors and explain the steps. There are 6 people per table. The entire process is supposed to take 2 hours. We were there for over 3 hours. There was still a person there being rushed to finish. I had to pick out my colors on my own and didn't receive help until the end when I was the 2nd person to arrive. My boards were really warped and I mentioned this before starting the project and the lady promised I would love my project. Well, it caused part of the wording not to show on my finished piece. I was told that I applied the "primer" aka Elmer's glue on too heavy and my paint would peal up. Fortunately it didn't, but the lady next to me did have her paint peal. Not worth the money for the stress. Let me be clear, I was never greeted at the door. I found my own seat. The employee was so rude that she actually tore the paint color samples out of my sisters hands to show another client. The employee must have been friends with this person because they spent the majority of our time helping this client. The girl next to me was told not to use primer and when she took off her stencil her paint came off in parts and then the employee had the nerve to tell her she put on too much primer. I like knots in wood, but don't like gaps between the boards, so my sign now reads "TFE" when it should read "THE". I was accused of over chiseling that board when I didn't. The whole experience was poor and not worth the $70 my sister paid for my sign. I would have enjoyed myself if we had a friendly outgoing instructor.

I absolutely LOVED this place!! The atmosphere is so inviting and laid back, everyone made it very comfortable and welcoming the way the staff was very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure I was happy! Our instructor was unbelievably awesome and knew what she was doing so she was able to fix a few of my mistakes ‍ and they are not even noticeable now!! I truly enjoyed my experience here it was so much fun and also very informative. I made a lazy Susan and I am utterly smitten with it I would recommend this to anyone and everyone and I'll definitely be coming back hopefully Soon!! This was the best gift I got for Christmas, hands down the most unique and thoughtful.

My best friend bought me a gift card for Christmas and we set our girl's night for tonight. It was great! The owner and asst were so friendly, helpful, and I love my sign! I have already picked out 3 more projects I want to complete. We not only painted but used power tools to put our signs together. FUN! I highly recommend them AR workshop for a fun night with friends.

This DIY workshop was so much fun!!!!! If you don't think you can do something like this because you aren't crafty don't worry at all!!!! There is a staff member at every table waking you through each and every step!!! The hardest part is picking what project you want to sign up for and then picking out all the colors you will put into your project. I highly encourage you to grab a friend or two and have a blast!!!

    Jessica S.

A must do for Date Night or a Girls Night Out! Variety of projects for either the beginner or the expert. The instructions are easily explained that even if you have limited woodshop skills you can still easily complete every step perfectly. I've never done anything like this and my woodsign looks like an expert made it. I'm excited to go back to create another one of their projects. Also, perfect projects to give to a family member or significant other.

All the staff is so nice, including the membership coordinators, the front desk check-in staff, the instructors (even those you haven't even taken a class from), the café staff, and even the cleaning ladies. I've had long conversations with the front desk, café, and janitorial staff. One Zumba instructor I play pickleball with sometimes! My primary activity is pickleball, of course! This is the premier place to play pickleball in the greater Sacramento area. Sure, you can struggle to play on a public court or join other sports clubs with pickleball, but where do all the pros eventually gather, and where are the most local tournaments held? It's here at the Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex (South facility) with its 24 beautiful and maintained courts. The beauty of Johnson Ranch's pickleball is that it's not hard to find open play. It's also organized by skill level, unlike the public courts. We have a pickleball director, multiple pro instructors, and 3 pickleball event organizers putting together fun events for us: the popular Kings/Queens of the Court, women's/men's/mixed doubles events, ladders, MLP teams (I can't wait!), beginner Pickleball 101 classes free to the public, Challenge the Pros game, prize challenges, Live Ball and other drill classes, and pickleball classes and camps. You can also reserve a court (pickleball, tennis, racquetball, or squash) or a swim lane for free with your membership. The North facility has 25 tennis courts. All our tennis and pickleball courts are lighted until 10 pm! Gym equipment, swimming pools, hot tubs, and children's wading pools can be found at both North and South facilities. The North facility has a sauna and steam room. The group exercise studio and cycling studio are in the South facility. Other than pickleball, these are my favorite classes: 10 AM Aqua Fit Class (M W F Sat Sun) Dance Fusion Class (Thu 2x, Sat with instructors Lori N or Ali B) Sometimes, I will go to Julia's 4:30 Warrior Flow Yoga class on Thursday before Dance Fusion class. I should try more classes, but they all conflict or compete against pickleball or aqua fit class. The Aqua Fit ladies like to chit chat and celebrate birthdays monthly with a potluck after class. To celebrate, one woman sometimes brings her homing pigeons to release, and they fly home...so cool! Kathee on Mondays and Wednesdays is the instructor I interact with most. Kelly on Fridays seems to be the most popular with her water aerobics class. The Dance Fusion instructors Lori and Ali have years of dance training in different types of dance. The rest of us in class are just trying to keep up and wishing to look as hip, coordinated, and graceful as them. We're working on the Beyonce Texas Hold Em TikTok Dance currently! We've done the Shivers line dance and Michael Jackson's Thriller dance before. There are group classes in yoga, cardio, strength training, cycling, pilates, barre, and more. The morning group exercise devotees will often attend three classes in a row! The food and drink menus at both the North and South cafes are extensive. I like the Chicken Caesar Salad for around $8 and love the $1 slushies! I need to try one of the homemade cookies someday. There's also homemade banana bread. I heard the smoothies were good from a personal trainer. You can hire a personal trainer or get private instruction in your sport of choice. Johnson Ranch offers after school programs and summer programs for kids (i.e., swimming, pickleball camps), as well as child care. You can contact a membership coordinator or sign up online for a free one week trial: https://www.sparetimesportsclubs.com/free-one-week-membership/ During the summer, there is sometimes a free two week trial if you contact AmyH@sparetimesportsclubs.com Last year, I won a free two week membership from spinning the prize wheel during a Friday Night Lights pickleball party. To cancel a month-to-month membership, you just need to give notice before the 15th of the previous month. You can also put your membership on vacation hold ($15 per month?) or medical hold ($5 per month, prorated when you start back up and the $5 that month is credited, hold for an initial 3 months and extend as needed). On the last Friday of the month, you can bring in 4 free guests. To look for pickleball events at Johnson Ranch, sign up for a free account on the Playtimescheduler.com website. Free 5 PM beginner Pickleball 101 lessons are usually in a brown circle on the 1st and 3rd Fridays every month. The free 6-9 PM Friday Night Lights party open to the public is usually in a brown circle on the 3rd Friday. Time is precious. If you want to play and improve at pickleball quickly, this is the place to be.

I've really enjoyed connecting with other theater moms and dads and working together on parent teams. I also like that parents are not involved in the classes. That means if your kid wants to do theater and you don't have the time to volunteer, you still have options for them. The teachers are passionate and highly capable. From what I've seen, they are immensely talented in their own fields. Each time one of my children takes a class, they definitely come away knowing more than they went in knowing, and it shows in their performances. Our oldest child has been involved with CYT over the past couple of years, and we have seen great growth in her singing and dance abilities, as well as her drive and work-ethic.
