We had an amazing time here last weekend! The rooms vary in size and difficulty level so we decided to start with The Lab as an intro and then moved over to Bitten which was quite a challenge. The facility spans across multiple buildings allowing plenty of room to meet up with your group before heading into the challenge. They provide seating and a large lobby and give a nice overview before getting started. This was helpful because our group was mostly novices. I was surprised at the elaborate set up with multiple rooms for each of our challenges with ingenious puzzles, tasks, illusions and other tasks you need to make it through successfully. I had no idea how elaborate and creative the staff would be to come up with all these concepts. Way beyond what I expected. We stumbled upon this escape room because we happened to be in the area and they had rave reviews!! I must say, being a lover of escape rooms, this place lives up to the hype!! The check in process was prompt, and quick! (Sign your waivers ahead of time people!!) our game host explained everything in detail and we were off! We did the Lab, considered "hard" on the difficulty scale, and it does make you think outside the c box. All the challenges are creative, my only qualms: (and not anybody's fault) no timer listed (usually there's a tv screen with a countdown and it can also be used for clues) but here the clues are communicated via walkie talkie. I also didn't like that there's no real "Code" for an escape, as soon as you "complete the challenge" they just tell you via walkie you've made it. Hehehe again, no big, just small things coming from doing multiple escape rooms! I love that they gave our party a little birthday goodie bag to find, and I really enjoy the photo they take for you and send it via email with your team name on there!!! Open late--winning! It's a breeze to book online and such a blast for celebrating my birthday. We tackled a beginner's room and nailed it with just ten seconds to spare. Plus, if you give them a heads up, they sneak in a cute little birthday card for you to discover in the room. When you get there, they check you in and request that you stash your phones away until after the game. Then, they guide you to the game room, explain the rules and objectives. I believe Beat The Room has a location in Rocklin and Vacaville but my friend organized her birthday for an escape room. She signed our large groups up for Bitten (5/5 difficulty) and Chasm (3/5 difficulty). You arrive earlier than your start to sign electronic waivers via QR codes. They have lockers for you to keep your stuff in. The staff are super friendly and really into it which makes it exciting! There are bathrooms inside and it was such a great time to not put any spoilers out. 2 people couldn't make the reservation and they were able to reimburse us for it. Everyone sounded like they had a great time both before and after seeing other groups. Would highly recommend this spot! Happy to say both of our groups escaped! read more

We had a blast for my son's birthday. There were eight of us and only two had tried escape rooms before. I won't lie, we burned almost twenty minutes trying to figure things out, but that's the fun of it. Once we started working together and actually using our brains (ok we did ask for hints a few times from our absolutely fabulous host), things progressed quickly! We got down to the wire but were successful, with seven whole minutes to spare haha. This family won't be winning any competitions among other teams any time soon, but I can't wait for another try at this. I haven't laughed so hard in a while. read more

The hosts were sweet and helpful. My family split up to do the Sherlock Holmes and Pirate rooms. Both had a great mix of puzzle types and the room themes were well executed. A few of the clues could use fixing and both rooms needed better lighting to help us read some small print, but the overall experience was excellent. My husband and I decided to try beat the room for the first time. This was our first escape room and I had been wanting to try it for a while. The price was steep but OMG was it an amazing time, the rooms are private so you will not be paired up with strangers. Which is a plus because I think with more people it would have been crammed. My husband and I did not beat the room, but we're given a bit of extra time to complete the puzzle. We finished in 58 mins. Staff was so friendly and helpful. it was exhilarating and exciting the whole time. I could not recommend it more! not only was it fun but also a great bonding experience with my husband and I to work as a team. We have not had that much fun in a long time. We did 221 baker room, the Sherlock Holmes theme. If you and your partner are tired of the same date ideas, I highly recommend this place! Get out of your comfort zone and just try it! Ok. That's it. Staff was friendly and helpful but the room itself was a let down. We did the pirate themed one and it was literally "beat the room." Aka there were no other rooms to navigate through, or surprises. I really enjoyed coming to Beat The Room! It's spread over two buildings (as far as I saw) and it's a big, clean space. We were welcomed into a large waiting room, that's has plenty of room to sit. They also offer hand sanitizer, which always gets a good rating from me! It's easy to check in and get your group ready. The staff is friendly and check in with you before and after. They also have a little space to take a picture (with provided props) with your group. I will definitely be back because the experience was so good! read more

I am a huge escape room nerd and have done 10+ rooms in different cities with various groups over the past few years. I did Space and The Initiation this past month with two different groups of 5, most of which had never done an escape room. My understanding was that these were among the easiest of their games, with about a 50% escape rate (the easiest is apparently Captain's Quarters). I have to say I was honestly pretty disappointed at just how easy these rooms seemed to be. Both times, despite having a smaller group than the maximum and having mostly new players, we managed to escape in about 30 minutes. The challenge just wasn't there and everything was very straight forward and linear in both games. The clues felt overly obvious and when you did get a hint, the answer was literally handed to you rather than just a nudge in the right direction. Do not try to do these rooms with the full suggested 8 or most people will just stand around and do nothing. The rooms aren't big enough and don't have enough puzzles to occupy more than 4-5 people MAX (really could be done by 2). Space Room: ion Room: 1/5 stars The Initiation was a bad room, very boring, straight forward, no real thought or effort put into it or the atmosphere, and just down right easy easy. The room's environment was just plain, simple, and never opened any secret rooms or hidden areas. They also didn't play any music or sounds the entire time which made it a lot harder to really get into when things are so sterile and obvious like puzzle, puzzle, puzzle rather than a story and feeling like you've been immersed into something. Basically you are literally just stuck in a small square room the entire time with nothing new to discover and small clips will play on a TV to give you the next puzzle. I would say total there must have been only 10 puzzles to the entire room, which you mostly had to solve one by one in order to unlock the next. Might be good for a small group of beginners (2-3 people), but any group that has done an escape room before will think this is way too easy and not worth the money. Space Room: 3/5 stars The space theme was cool, the room design was fairly immersive, but the puzzles were lackluster without really any innovation and didn't take too much thought to figure out. This had more puzzles and a bit more thought involved, but still straight forward. It is very small at first so a large group may struggle here. I would say 3-4 people is the right amount, but if you're an escape room nerd like me then 2 people max or it'll be too easy and not enough to do. Beat the Room is the closest escape room to me so I will be back to try their more difficult ones. I am hoping these are a bit more challenging and interesting. IF they matched Space in environment with more puzzles so it wasn't so linear, I think they've got a shot at being pretty good. read more

We've done many escape rooms and really enjoy an immersive experience. This was the first business to come up when we were searching in the area while visiting this week. It was not immersive like we were looking for but luckily wasn't too expensive with 4 of us. We did "the invitation" and was a little let down at the upkeep of the room. Panels were falling off of the ceiling and it didn't look very well put together. One puzzle set us back pretty far since the symbols didn't match up and that was super frustrating. Overall an okay experience for the cost but will not be returning for any other rooms they offer. read more

Just found this place and I've already been to three of their rooms in less than a month! Lol So of you like escape rooms you will love this place. The games range in challenge. I love that they have some games that have multiple rooms. Without giving too much away they are elaborate and well designed. I recommend the outer space one for beginners, the pirate one for novice and the golden dragon for experienced players. They have a few other rooms that I haven't tried yet but I will be back. The only thing that kinda sucks is its a little pricey but I guess you get what you pay for, so is worth it. read more

We loved beat the room. We went with 6 people and did Chasm. Chasm has multiple rooms and is cave themed. It was challenging, but kept us interested and busy. After yelling and arguing with each other for some time, we were given hints and guided when needed. Lol The details in the room were fun and the puzzles kept us excited! We loved the staff and the people that helped us. Ricky helped us and was a good sport with our many questions. We will continue to come back to do more of the rooms with more friends! read more
