Luckily the office is very kid-friendly, and the toys in the waiting room loosened her up before they took us back. Every member of the staff clearly adores kids, and they were great at interacting with her without overwhelming her. She had such a great experience that she was excited to go back for her second visit (and she suddenly liked brushing her teeth, but I'm unsure if that's related to the first visit or just the whims of a 2 year old). Overall I highly recommend the practice. The front office staff is sweet, the hygienists are skilled, and Dr. Loving is helpful and kind. We will keep coming to this office as long as we live in North Austin!

My daughter,…read moreyoungest of four kiddos suffered some really challenging medical trauma before she was 2 years old and the memories of that fear and pain lives in her body. She's cured every time she walks into a medical office of ANY type since she was able to communicate. When we walked into the dentist office for the first time it was no different. She was terrified. Dr loving and her team met her in her fear and held her. They have tenderly and patiently nurtured her and helped her rebuild trust not only with her body, but also with her medical providers. Giving her space to ask questions, taking time to show her and patiently moving at a pace where she could engage the courage she needed to step into situations and spaces that felt scary and overwhelming. Including things in her mouth, shots, x-rays, any anything where she felt a loss of control. Today we went in for an emergency visit, she had cracked a molar and turned out she needed a crown. 1 hour later we walked out with a smiling little girl, who she'd maybe two years before the procedure started. She did amazing and she left feeling proud and happy about her new "princess crown" a feat that ONLY happened because of the care and attention that has been provided by Brandy and her team. I can not recommend them enough. I have kids ages 15 - 6 and have had multiple different dental experiences since becoming a mom, hands down THIS IS THE BEST! I wish we had known about her earlier and can guarantee we will be with her as long we she will see my kids. I'm so thankful and feel like they have not only helped instill confidence in my daughter related to her experience at the dentist, but they have truly helped her heal from medical trauma that could have caused anxiety for the rest of her life. Early on, they pushed me to get a crown that I may not have needed. It seems they ground it down too far, because it kept falling off, and it's fallen off again, for the third time, I know they will "repair" the crown again, but I simply have no confidence in them to fix it properly. After three botched attempts (by three different dentists), their incompetence is clear. I only chose them because they were close by and in my network. Now I'm paying the price. Don't make the mistake I did!

The lobby is big and full of things to keep the children busy, while the front office staff is friendly both on the phone and in person. I've actually been a patient of Emily Ryu, DDS (her maiden name was Abbott) for many years but I used to go to her when she was at the Carus Dental location in Georgetown..yep, folks I live in north Austin but would drive to Georgetown just to see Dr. Ryu..I'm telling you she's a great dentist! Well, lucky me Dr. Ryu is now at the Carus Dental in North Austin & I just had my 1st visit at this Carus location on 2/6/2019 & I am so happy to report that Dr. Ryu is still her awesome self..she is so personable, very thorough, & does a great job explaining my treatment plan. The hygienist I had was named Christina and she was the perfect energy for me! You know how some hygienist talk too much, or hurt you while cleaning your teeth, or try to shame you if you're overdue on your cleaning?..well, Christina was none of those things..she was gentle and just put me at ease. And later I receive the claim letter from my insurance stating we was only responsible for 297. So my husband arrives to show the Billing Manager A L E J A N D R O the bill and statement and he explains that no the charge was correct. Long story short my husband left with A L E J A N D R O refusing to refund the money they overcharged. So check your claims with your insurance because they're double billing. I filed a grievance with my insurance company and they also stated us only being responsible for 297. I also reached out to the dental association and board as well. It's sad I have to look for a new dentist for my son because they can't figure out how to properly bill clients and insurance.
